  1. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Oct 21, 2009 -> 03:44 PM) Or this... LMAO
  2. I actually love this. I mentioned going after him a couple years ago. He has had some tough luck with injuries and there's a much better chance he never has an impact for us, but this is a no lose move that could potentially pay off. He has great speed, plays a good defensive OF and makes contact with the ball. If the guy can stay healthy he could make a decent player.

  4. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Oct 20, 2009 -> 10:08 PM) Like which sources? Seriously?

    Europe

    QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Oct 20, 2009 -> 11:50 AM) Spain is definitely one of my favorites. My cousin just came back from Ibiza, had a lot of fun. I'm going down to the Andalusia region in April. Probably take a day trip to Tangier while we're there too.
  6. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Oct 19, 2009 -> 10:01 PM) Thought Curb was very good last night. Obviously, had nothing to do with the Seinfeld storyline, but I thought it was funny. And How I Met Your Mother was the same: not important to the story line, but really really funny. Agreed on both. Loved Curb the other night. Couldn't stop laughing.
  7. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Oct 19, 2009 -> 10:09 PM) For anyone who watches Dexter,
  8. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Oct 13, 2009 -> 09:34 PM) f*** it. Just traded him for McNabb. The 3 runs and a punt late against Denver really bothered me. In 2007 Belichek would never have done that. Whoops!

    Europe

    QUOTE (Chi Town Sox @ Oct 19, 2009 -> 03:43 PM) I won a trip to London this past week, I am planning on going for around 2 weeks and catching as much as possible without feeling like I am spending the majority of the time travelling. Anyone ever do this before? I have been to Ireland 3 times so I have some family there and in England that I plan on visiting for a small time. Some other places I have on my list are the Swiss Alps, Amsterdam, Ibiza, Italy amongst others- Anyone have any tips and/or suggestions of where to go in Europe? How much to bring Money wise if we are staying in Hostels? I actually found flights from Dublin to London that are as low as 5 Pounds each! Well if London is your entry point it does limit you somewhat for the 2 weeks you have. If it were me, I'd try and catch and EPL match, tour London and hit up Stonehenge in England. Then i'd recommend taking the chunnel to Paris for a couple days. Take an overnighter into Switerland and go to Zurich. Vienna in Austria is nice too. You could go to Italy from here and swing back up later or go up to Munich and Berlin in Germany. If you choose the latter you could easily get to Copenhagen and northern Germany on another overnight train. Amsetrdam is close enough to reach next. If you go to Belgium, go to Bruges, not Brussells. There is nothing to do or see there. By now your two weeks would probably be about up. You could also go the opposite way and hit up Spain/Portugal/Gibraltar/Morocco if you so chose as well. But in all honesty, it's up to you and what you want to do and spend. Getting a Eurostar pass is essential if you plan on using the train a lot (it doesnt work in England though). You could feasibly see 7 or 8 cities but how much would be able to appreciate them? It just depends what you want to do. Paris and London for example you could spend days in and round those cities. Either way you should try and plan and map out ahead of time what you want to do to maximize your experience. Also, you could check out Rick Steves Wesbite for some ideas. He has some set itineraries and recommendations all throughout Europe for trips of varying lengths that could be beneficial.

Missed it this weekend. Assumed they already had their show set when this story broke.
  11. QUOTE (AssHatSoxFan @ Oct 19, 2009 -> 11:36 AM) odds on how soon south park makes an episode involving this? Gotta think SNL does something with it too
  12. QUOTE (lostfan @ Oct 17, 2009 -> 09:28 PM) Already did that. They buffer much faster when I'm already using the network Which in turn allows you to "buffer" faster, no?
  13. QUOTE (danman31 @ Oct 16, 2009 -> 03:40 PM) Maurice Edu will be back months before the World Cup. If Clark and Torres are in your rotation, a 100% Edu would certainly be a factor. As should Kjlestan. I'm just basing off the past few months. To me Clark and Torres have looked good recently. of course if Edu gets healthy he should be starting and if Kjlestan and/or Beasley ever get their heads out of their ass they should warrant consideration for some PT as well.
  14. QUOTE (zenryan @ Oct 16, 2009 -> 01:59 PM) I think we can basically forget about Davies in South Africa next summer but how about moving Dempsey to the top? He did pretty well in the Confederations Cup in that role. When his head isnt up his ass his is a great threat for us, plus we wont have to worry about him turning the ball over at midfield. I'd put Jozy and Dempsey up top, Landon-Jones-Bradley-Torres in the middle. Do you mean Landon-Clark-Bradley-Torres? Real shame about Davies. I agree about Dempsey 110%. IMO he is a much more effetive player when he plays up top as opposed to in the midfield. I'd definitely consider giving Robbie Rogers a look prior to the WC next June. He looked great the other day. And what ever happened to Eddie Johnson? We really could use another forward to step up. Onyewu should be back in time and contrary to what someone said earlier I do think he's a big deal. Big target on corners and takes up a lot of space on the defensive end. He got beat the other day once but he's still one of our top 2 or 3 defenders IMO.
  15. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Oct 15, 2009 -> 01:55 AM) News flash chief,Mexico is in the WC and who finishes first really doesn't matter... By the way,alot of you guys were talking smack about Mexico not even making it to the WC and you were only a last second goal on ridiculous extra stoppage time and 1 point away from being second in this qualifying group,come on admit it,Mexico finished strong and did administer a beat down in NY (5-0) and a come from behind win at the Azteca. Congrats to USA,Mexico and Honduras...Costa Rica won't beat Uruguay in my opinion. First off, talking about how your 'B' squad plus two of the best young players in North America beat our 'B' maybe 'C' squad doesnt matter at all, I don't know why you keep bringing it up. Secondly, the smack at the time was warranted. I don't think anyone who follows soccer closely really felt Mexico would miss the WC, but when qualifying started they sure were doing their best to miss out, that's for sure. And finally, did you watch the game? The stoppage time was entirely warranted. You had their subs literally walking off the field, their coach caused about a 2 minute stoppage himself, their players keep laying on the ground in "agony" only to miraculously get up again as soon as they hit the sideline and Onyewu had to be carted off the field with a legitimate serious injury. The 5 minutes of added time could have even been more IMO. It only turned into 6 and a half b/c the US scored a goal adding on a minute or so of extra stoppage time. But since you say you aren't really a soccer fan you probably don't care.
  16. The Cast of Seinfeld on 'Tweeting' Found this this morning on Slate. Pretty funny if you're a fan of the show.
  17. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Oct 13, 2009 -> 05:09 PM) I don't need to read the article to know it's stupid. Humans get paid and know the risks. Dogs get trained and beaten to be vicious and kill each other. Any comparison is stupid. /thread Yeah this is actually incredibly ignorant, which you would come to see if you took the time to read the article. Bill Simmons put this on his twitter the other day and I read it. A good read. Very interesting. And Steve, in case you were wondering it is not "preachy".
  18. QUOTE (Sonik22 @ Oct 13, 2009 -> 04:05 PM) US striker Charlie Davies was involved in car crash this morning that put him into surgury. 1 person died in the accident and davies and the other occupant were sent to the hospital. Prayers go out to everyone involved and to a speedy recovery for Charlie whos injuries are possibly "career threatening" Just terrible in so many ways. The fact that a young woman died being the toughest part, but Charlie was really coming into his own as a player as well. Doctors say injuries like his take 6-12 months to recover. Well the WC is 8 months away. With Charlie's fitness level you never know, but it is almost assuredly a blow to the US team and potentially the rest of his career
  19. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Oct 13, 2009 -> 03:15 PM) GOP.com has officially crashed. And they've decided to declare Jackie Robinson a republican... even though he was a self declared independent.
  20. Viciedo picks up an RBI on a first inning SF
  21. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Oct 13, 2009 -> 10:01 AM) What overall story? I thought it was hilarious. Robin and Barney are hilarious together. I dunno, I just felt it was too pushed the whole couples dating thing. It just felt like they tried too hard. Just wasn't a fan.
  22. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Oct 13, 2009 -> 03:25 AM) Wow thats awesome. Very classy of that guy, and he was right to. I was visiting some friends and we were walking back after a night full of vodka and partying and I never realized that my wallet fell out of my pocket. The next day I was freaking out and couldnt find it anywhere. I got home later that week and waiting for me was a package from one of his neighbors who found it in the gutter of the street rained on but still filled with the $80 in it along with my credit card. I couldnt believe it. I was so grateful for that. When i was out in Lake Havasu last November my camera slipped out of my pocket and I thought i lost it. Since its a smallish town in the middle of nowehere I called the cab companies hoping to give a description of the driver and try to locate it. Since the cab driver looked like Jerry Garcia it was actually quite easy. I got a hold of him and the guy met me at a bar the next night with the camera. I gave him $30 for his effort. I definitely thought my camera was gone the night before so I was relieved when everything worked out the next day.
  23. Okay, I love HIMYM but last night's episode was such a horses*** one. It was a complete throwaway. Did nothing for the overall story. Hated it. Like I actively rooted for it to just end. The only redeeming parts was the 'sexless innkeeper' line and Barney's reaction in the last seconds of the episode.
  24. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Oct 10, 2009 -> 10:02 AM) Oh ya forget about those 2. But I still think Rugby has more competition. I'll give you the competition is equal between the two sports. Even if the competition was even slightly better with Rugby it's still ridiculous seeing as how the "competition level" was one of the main reasons cited for the removal of baseball. It just doesn't make any sense to me.
