  1. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Nov 10, 2009 -> 09:59 AM) There was a series involving the Kings a few years back that was absolutely absurd. 2002 Conference Finals with the Lakers. Beyond ridiculous. It was that series that essentially killed the NBA for me.
  2. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Nov 9, 2009 -> 11:15 AM) I assume he will be extradited and his detention and trial will be overseas since I was told that terrorists shouldn't be kept on our soil. *yawn*
  3. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Nov 9, 2009 -> 01:37 AM) That is also part of the reason why I started calling him that, and Johnny will obviously become Joh. Danks. Sucks for people who will have to buy a new Johnny Danks jersey! You do realize that is how he's been listed in box scores since signing last summer right?
  4. QUOTE (lostfan @ Nov 6, 2009 -> 01:12 PM) You'll have to forgive me if I found this... just... so boring. edit: wrong window. what the f***? disregard this post, I'm leaving this up so people can laugh at me though. You're having bad luck with wrong windows today arent ya?
  5. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 6, 2009 -> 02:36 PM) BYU/New Mexico womens soccer game turns into a cat fight Obviously that's f***ed up, but you can't help but laugh a little bit.
  6. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Nov 6, 2009 -> 03:25 PM) Couple of things Walker should be able to help Teahan as they have/had similar approaches. I know Walker should have been fired but I digress. KW is saying Teahan will play third if nobody better is picked up to play third. Also, the bullpen will be better if the offense can help win games as the starters should all be able to go deep into games and the relievers will not have to protect a one or two run lead nightly. The bullpen can be shortened to 3 guys instead of 5 nightly. LOL. Come on. I know what you're trying to say but that's not exactly a recipe for success. The bullpen won't be any better if we don't replace some pieces with better pitchers.
  7. If the price is right I'd welcome back Thome to DH as well. I'd sit him against lefties though and give Flowers those at bats, assuming he's here all year.
  8. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Nov 6, 2009 -> 02:39 PM) Jeter/Cano? Bartlett/Zobrist? I think it's still arguable. Jeter is getting up there in years and Bartlett and Zobrist need to do what they did this year again. Of course, Beckham hasn't even played a full year and Lexi is only a 2 year vet but I could easily see our middle infield tandem combine to hit .285 with 40HR and 160 RBI and steal 30 bases next year. Not many teams can say that.
  9. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 6, 2009 -> 12:37 PM) New FSU uni's by Nike http://img691.imageshack.us/img691/471/fsuuniform.jpg Nice. I hope it's just an alternate though as I really like their classic gold helmets
  10. When i saw this yesterday I wondered why it had to be put in the 'Buster and couldn't just be in SLAM like most of the tragedies that get reported there. Silly me. Should have known better...
  11. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Nov 6, 2009 -> 11:11 AM) Toilet seats are made from rock?
  12. QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Nov 6, 2009 -> 10:46 AM) No it's not. The Brewers are said to be considering using Gamel to get pitching. Also, Gamel is nothing like Beckham. Gamel may have the potential to hit more home runs, but he's no sure thing like Gordon. Yeah that probably was a bad comparison but he's one of the Brewers top prospects and was a top 30 prospect in baseball going into this year. My point was basically he's not the kind of player we should realistically be looking to acquire. You say the Brewers might dangle him for pitching. Well, that means bye bye to Floyd or Danks and I would not be willing to do that.
  13. QUOTE (1977 sox fan @ Nov 6, 2009 -> 09:36 AM) or maybe try for Gamel ? Proposing we go after players like Gamel is equivalent to people on the Padres/Orioles/Mariners/etc... boards proposing they try to go after Flowers or Beckham
  14. QUOTE (balfanman @ Nov 6, 2009 -> 07:41 AM) Why won't Retherford do? He has caught before and your third catcher would at most catch a few innings in an emergency situation. The possibility of even needing the emergency catcher is pretty low anyway, It's not like he would be catching a game every week. Bingo. You're right. Starting your backup catcher at DH is fine if you have someone who can catch in a pinch because as you said worst that would ever really happen is they'd have to catch a few innings. It's actually an ideal situation to have someone like that so you can use the other bat in the lineup if you so choose to.
  15. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 01:01 PM) I thought that was my job! /Ross Gload / Ehren Wassermann fan Every Batman needs a Robin
  16. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 12:58 PM) Tell me why Chris Getz is a good player. Tell me why he's better then Nix or Teahen. Give me some numbers, don't give me feelings. Its been discussed ad nauseum in about 4 or 5 threads already. Go re-read what countless people have told you countless times already. I'm not bringing it into yet another thread.
  17. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 12:55 PM) It's that kind of crap that made Chris Getz into a legend on this board.. What don't you like about Nix? That he struggled at hitting RHP in his rookie year? That he can hit for pop, steal a base, field the damn position better then Getz? The raw data works in Nixs' favor. You're just about the only person who feels this way. Sorry.
  18. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 11:05 AM) Per cowley: Sox have announced that Mark Kotsay was given a one-year, $1.5 million deal to return to the South Side as a key reserve Well he's not Kotsay's replacement. And I am completely fine with this. Gives PK a legit backup and he can still play the OF in a pinch. Solid veteran, good for the young guys and the clubhouse. Kudos Kenny
  19. Didn't know where to put this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9unlpJMAVHA Last week in the OHL some kid was laid out. Kid who got hit sent to hospital in critical condition. Fractured skull, concussion, bleeding etc...Apparently he's stable but still not out of the woods. Hate to see stuff like that happen but the OHL suspended the kid who hit him for the rest of the year and playoffs. It sucks seeing stuff like this, but this is not a suspendable offense in my opinion.
  20. QUOTE (docsox24 @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 10:52 AM) Why all the love here for CJ? I think hes gonna be just a utility type not an above average player. Last year that was what he looked like. But the kid just keeps hitting and hitting at every level and every challenge he faces. He's doing so-so right now in the AFL but if he comes into ST and lights it up or goes to Charlotte and starts hot he could very well play himself into a job here next year by June.
  21. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 10:50 AM) So Placido Polanco stole SEVEN bases last year and got caught twice. If the Sox go after him, we'll still need speed. I think Kenny has something else up his sleeve. I HOPE Kenny has something else up his sleeve... Rios could steal 20-25 Ramirez could steal 20-25 Beckham could steal 10-15 If Pods is back and healthy he could swipe 25-35 We have some players who could steal bases, but Getz was our best at doing it.
  22. As someone said maybe he is a replacement for Kotsay. He could fill in at the corner OF spots, 1B, 3B and 2B. But, is that worth losing your starting 2B? I really dont mind Teahen at all, but he's a role player. If they truly plan on using him in RF they'd better acquire an impact bat at either 3B or 2B. I wonder if his defense would be good enough to start at 2B? His bat at that position would make this entirely different.
  23. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 10:23 AM) f***, I love Getz, he's the type of player that we need, and will kill us for years. Dammit. I liked the trade at Fields. This. Teahen's not a bad player, but I don't know if he's the answer at one of the corner OF spots.
  24. I really liked Chris Getz. Is Mark Teahen the answer in RF field though? Doesnt seem like he has the power numbers to be a significant factor at that position.

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Nov 4, 2009 -> 09:50 PM) Ya, I'm kind of worried about that as I'm 6'6 and I'm pretty sure I can reach the bar from my knees. But we'll see what happens. Just finished my day 2 workout. Was able to do all of CardioX and part of Ab Ripper X. I'm feeling great and in just 2 days I've fallen in love with this program. Can't wait to get my pull-up bar tomorrow. I have a question for those who've done this. I'm not sure I can put a pull-up bar anywhere in my house. Is there any sort of substitute for that part or not really?
