  1. So anyone ever try Three Penis wine? Oh and my friend is seriously considering naming his next dog Mr. McGiblets
  2. QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Dec 7, 2009 -> 01:53 PM) Ha, 8-0 with wins over Washington, Oregon State etc and that's not good enough for the USAToday top 25. Oregon State isn't exactly good.
  3. QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Dec 7, 2009 -> 11:05 AM) Seriously, one way or another this thread has to die. And lets not do any more posts on the newest 'update' as yr then giving said source the satisfaction he likely craves. Then stop reading it.
  4. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Dec 7, 2009 -> 10:55 AM) Isn't there a good chance this dude is dead? I dunno. I seem to remember there being reports in the last few years that he was suffering from some ailments.
  5. QUOTE (KipWellsFan @ Dec 4, 2009 -> 05:02 PM) I disagree that Taiwan and Kosovo are countries! Got 140 though. Terrible at the WWII stuff. Got only 6. Should have gotten Iwo Jima and Midway. Canadians...
  6. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Dec 4, 2009 -> 08:37 PM) Basically under Pim Verbeek we play 4-2-3-1 with a big striker up front, with Kewell, Cahill and Bresciano behind. We've become pretty strong defensively, but have problems scoring at times. Pretty bad draw for us, and we'll have to get results against Ghana and Serbia if we want to move on. Ghana have Michael Essien who's argubly the best defensive midfielder in the world. As for the US, that's pretty much a dream draw, and if you can't advance to the 2nd round, your manager should be sacked. Without a doubt he's top 3. And they have STeven Appiah and Sully Muntari in the middle as well, but they clearly lack the top flight striker that will be needed, which is why I think they aren't much of a threat this time around.
  7. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Dec 4, 2009 -> 05:36 PM) You don't think Klose and Podolski are good forwards? They're good but I wouldnt call them world class. Basically I'm saying they are more than capable of putting the ball in the net but I wouldnt go into the game worrying about them the way I would about a Drogba or Rooney or Torres or Forlan. Germany's strength is undoubtedly in their midfield with Ballack, Schweinstager and Frings
  8. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Dec 4, 2009 -> 03:48 PM) Serbia gets Germany, Ghana, and Australia. Not an extremely horrible draw, but 3 very tough teams. Don't remember ever seeing Serbia play Australia and Ghana, but the last time we played Germany, we led 1-0 for like 80 minutes, then played all-defense hoping for the win and eventually lost 2-1. That was with a different coach and a less talented team. I like our chances of moving on. Our defense is what got us to the WC and it'll have to strong to move us through into the knockout rounds. Vidic/Subotic/Ivanovic and one of Dragutinovic/Obradovic/Lukovic/Kolarov. I'd expect at least 1 friendly with an African team before the WC to try and size up Ghana a bit. Ghana's strength is in their midfield. They lack a dangerous striker. Same can be said of Germany. Don't know much about Australia. So if defense is what Serbia is known for they should be in good shape to advance.
  9. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Dec 4, 2009 -> 12:33 PM) That was not an AND, it was Alexei + Jordan Danks/Flowers or Floyd/John Danks straight up. And I cant believe people here think Alexei is better than Uggla. I can see Alexei plus Danks/Flowers being too much, but Uggla is a better player than just Alexei. Whatever it is that you smoke, let us in on the secret.
  10. One of the best possible outcomes for the US right there. No excuses not to advance. Italy and Spain have cake walks to the second round. Hardest group is probably G followed by E in a close second.
  11. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 4, 2009 -> 01:16 PM) 3rd team in the US group is Algeria...thats a lucky break Best possible scenario. And that English team is beatable too. They wouldn't have been one of my top picks but it could have been worse.
  12. US gets England. Mexico of course gets South Africa
  13. What does Tiger Woods have in common with baby seals? They're both afraid of Scandinavians with clubs.
  14. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Dec 3, 2009 -> 04:17 PM) Yeah I accidentally got that one by trying to type Dominican Republic. Or are those the same country? QUOTE (lostfan @ Dec 3, 2009 -> 04:19 PM) Apparently 2 different countries b/c at the end it told me I missed D.R. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 3, 2009 -> 07:09 PM) 133. Also, there were at least 3 countries I typed it that it didn't recognize for some reason. And, there were another 3-ish I couldn't spell right but knew. And, its not 100% right. There is country Dominica, for example. And it misspells Phillpines. Damn, I need to brush up on my caribbean states, and parts of Africa. the island nation of Dominica
  15. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Dec 4, 2009 -> 09:17 AM) Same thing with Burma. I typed in Burma, but it put it in there as Myanmar. I'm not sure which name they go by. Its Myanmar now but Burma is often accepted on Sporcle. Same with Ceylon for Sri Lanka, Chinese Taipei for Taiwan and both the French and English spellings of East Timor and Ivory Coast. Also an FYI if you want to type Democratic Republic of Congo save time and type DRC. Same with CAR for Central African Republic.
  16. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 4, 2009 -> 08:49 AM) If it was a spoken word quiz, I'm fairly certain I would have gotten another 10 or so. The only areas I was truly lacking knowledge was central/southern Africa (where I got some, but a bunch I didn't), and the Carribbean (It's always confusing to me how many of those small islands are actually countries). Another thing is, countries change names, which is weird. For example, I typed in Congo - no response. Typed in Zaire - no response. Typed in Democratic Republic of Congo, and that worked. Because Congo is not a country, it is too ambiguous. There is the Democratic Republic of Congo (sporcle accepts DRC) and Republic of the Congo. I've taken that quiz a few times. Best I did was missing just two. I'm basically a human map. Easiest way to do it is go region by region. I always seem to miss one of the western African countries like Togo or Cote D'Ivoire. Last time i took it I was pissed because I forgot Saudi Arabia and Italy.
  17. The League was quality again last night.
  18. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 4, 2009 -> 07:35 AM) Is ESPN360 free or is it an Insider subscription deal? I want to watch the SIU/William&Mary game Saturday and need to know if I have to pick up a copy of ESPN the Magazine so I have Insider It's free.
  19. QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Dec 4, 2009 -> 12:03 AM) Other names rumored for KU job are Sumlin, Fedora, Edsall, Fulmer, Strong, Gil, Koetter Pleaasseee stay at UCONN Randy Edsall!
  20. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Dec 4, 2009 -> 08:51 AM) Was kind of hoping Australia would face the U.S in the group stages but that won't be happening. Besides South Africa, I'd love to get either England or the Netherlands out of Pool A. England I think are susceptible, especially if they keep going with Emile Heskey next to Rooney, while if Robin Van Persie misses with an ankle injury, the Dutch lose their main strike weapon up front. Really? I'd rather draw Argentina, Germany or even Spain before the Dutch.
  21. QUOTE (thedoctor @ Dec 3, 2009 -> 08:50 PM) bell: viciedo had a "great" year All things considered I would agree with him.
  22. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Dec 3, 2009 -> 03:17 PM) Not sure if I've seen anyone mention The League but that's a pretty funny show. It's hilarious. I introduced a friend to it on Saturday before we went out and naturally it involved into a "which one of our friends will be each character in 10 years" conversation.
  23. QUOTE (scenario @ Dec 3, 2009 -> 04:12 PM) Yeah, he regressed all right... all the way back to 10th in the AL in ERA among qualified starters (3.77)... ahead of other slackers like John Lackey, Josh Beckett, and Mark Buehrle. And the only two lefty starters with a better ERA were Sabathia and Lester. It's Thursday afternoon... so I think you qualify as a candidate for B&B's "Who You Crappin'?" bucket-o-suck. Or SNL's "Really!?!?" segment on Weekend Update
  24. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Dec 3, 2009 -> 11:07 AM) The finale was terrific. I thought the episode the week before the final was even better
  25. QUOTE (AssHatSoxFan @ Dec 3, 2009 -> 11:32 AM) I don't think you can draw another African team if you get South Africa in your group but that may be wrong No you're right. I forgot about that. Then best case would probably be to draw Chile or Uruguay from the CONMEBOL/CAF pool along with South Africa from pool A
