  1. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 8, 2010 -> 03:51 PM) A few things with this post, not that I don't like the PS3 backing... For some that's an advantage, but I have not used, nor plan to use the PS3 to surf the web. But some people do. That's what I was saying. It's a general statement, of course not everyone is going to take advantage of every feature. However, it is a nice added perk of the system for those people who do choose to take advantage of it. It was an analogy. He was saying that because he has a separate Blu Ray player and a separate web browsing device, therefore the PS3 being capable of games plus the two other functions I mentioned was useless and not an advantage. Potential, absolutely. The devs flat out said they could not port Uncharted to Xbox even if they wanted to. And I agree that as we move on more and more games will be like that. However, with many games being designed at the same time now (ie not being ported from the Xbox to PS3) the graphics are often said to be better on the PS3. Obviously not always, but many developers in the industry will say that.
  2. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 8, 2010 -> 02:57 PM) Bama doesnt get the ball as much with McCoy in nor can they run the entire game when they are behind. Of course it would have been a different game. But that doesnt mean that Bama would have unleashed this devastating passing attack that they dont have. It also doesnt mean that McCoy would have gone off like many people are saying. Especially seeing as how he didnt exactly have a great season against better defenses. I just think it's funny how so many people are so sure about what the outcome would have been and not just what it could have been had McCoy not gotten hurt.
  3. The Togolese national football team's bus was attacked today on the way to their first game of the Africa Cup of Nations in Angola. Apparently the driver was killed and 2 players and 4 coaches were injured. Dodo Obilale and Serge Akakpo have been listed as the injured players but it is not confirmed. Manchester City did confirm that Emmanuel Adebayor was unhurt.
  4. QUOTE (T R U @ Jan 8, 2010 -> 02:23 PM) better graphics according to who? PS3 owners? Like ive said, ive played both and havent noticed any difference.. I already have a blu ray player, and I got this thing called a computer for web browsing.. nothing any of you have said has made a distinct advantage over the xbox.. So spending $500 to get 360 + Blu Ray players is better than spending $300 for a PS3 and better Blu Ray player then huh? Ok. I guess you got me there. And that thing called a computer? Well good for you. I've heard of those things. But being able to check your email or fantasy team or espn.com for a score or whatever right after watching a movie or game on the system can be awfully convenient. Especially if you have your computer in another room or have it currently turned off. The fact that you dismiss everything the PS3 does that the Xbox does not as no advantage because you could get the same from something else is ridiculous. It's kinda like saying why would I ever buy a universal remote? I mean I could spend more money to get 4 separate ones so therefore it has no advantages. And as far as graphics go, fanboys aside, it's pretty much universally accepted that the PS3 has superior graphics. It may have something to do with the fact that it is a more powerful engine/system/processor but who knows!
  5. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jan 8, 2010 -> 02:33 PM) And clearly I am a homer, but come on, that was a dismal display by both teams. At least Texas had the excuse of not having there star QB. Clearly Alabama didn't play up to their capabilities though. They made some mistakes that allowed Texas to get back in the game. But as someone else said, they played a ridiculously conservative game once they had that lead. It almost came back to bite them but I guarantee Bama plays differently (and most likely better) if McCoy doesnt get hurt. I bet during half time, with McCoy gone, 75% of that Alabama team (and coaches) thought that game was over, and it showed.
  6. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jan 8, 2010 -> 12:42 PM) s***, I think OSU and Iowa would have competed, if not won. That's funny. You want to talk about Alabama's QB but yet mention Iowa? Come on. Alabama may have had a one-dimensional offense but their ground game is very, very good. Their special teams are great and their defense is upper echelon. Ohio State would have given them a game, but I doubt they win. Iowa doesnt keep it within two touchdowns. They just wouldn't score.
  7. QUOTE (T R U @ Jan 8, 2010 -> 04:49 AM) Would you kindly enlighten me about all of the advantages the PS3 has over the 360.. and dont use the exclusive baseball game reason, I don't give a s*** about The Show.. I believe it's been mentioned several times within the past couple pages, but: -Better graphics -Faster engine -Blu Ray player -Capability to support games the 360 flat out can't (see: Uncharted) -Use as a media player The only real advantage 360 has is its online has a larger population and is more established. The exclusives advantage 360 had a couple years ago is now mostly if not completely gone. And as far as online, the PS3 has been rapidly catching up. If someone were to go out today and needed a system and had no prior experience with Microsoft or Sony, I see very little reason to choose a 360.
  8. These teams really do share players...
  9. Marlins. Been following them since their inaugural season, still follow them and their minors and try to get to NYC when they play the Mets. I have developed legitimate rooting interests in them but it doesn't even come close to the Sox. Still, it's fun following a team in the other league and though they can be such a frustrating franchise to follow, they still continue to develop exciting young players. Oh, and the two championships werent such a bad thing either.
  10. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 7, 2010 -> 11:40 AM) His dog? http://twitter.com/ESPY_TEAHEN
  11. Manchester City lost 92.6 million pounds last year. And they are about to add Patrick Vieira to their squad
  12. Not that there's much competition, but this may be one of Jason Whitlock's best articles ever. I actually agree with a lot of what he says in this. http://msn.foxsports.com/nba/story/Whitloc...uys-like-Arenas
  13. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 6, 2010 -> 04:49 PM) Ellis Burks go two. That's at least excusable as Burks was a pretty good player for several seasons.
  14. Who the hell gave David Segui a vote? That's the reason these votes should be made public, because that person obviously needs his privilege revoked.
  15. QUOTE (knightni @ Jan 3, 2010 -> 10:36 PM) Soxtalk ESPN Keeper : Knight's Shrubberies () ChrisWilliams74 (Soxtalk ESPN 2) : It's Mike Vick In a Box! Soxtalk Yahoo 1: The Bones Soxtalk Yahoo 2: Hurricane Ditka to you all! QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 4, 2010 -> 06:04 PM) This team name is brilliant Thanks haha I'd love to take credit but I did not make it up
  16. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jan 5, 2010 -> 12:34 PM) That's my point. He was referencing the online play being the same. When you add to that you're admitted statement of preferring solo games for the graphics etc on the PS3 all of a sudden the two systems can't be the same.
  17. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Dec 22, 2009 -> 10:18 PM) I saw a guy who struck out 184-213-200 in 3 years, while averaging 208 innings and 33 starts per year. I saw a guy who did all of that and got traded because he crapped the bed in a couple of stretch games and had a falling out with his manager. What did you see? Who cares if you can strike people out when you allow 4-5 runs per start? He has never emulated his success in the NL in the AL. How is that hard to see?
  18. QUOTE (SockMe @ Dec 22, 2009 -> 02:45 PM) I'd say that the Yankees would move from 4 to 2. More like it moves them from 4 to 6.
  19. This past week were our semi-finals. After the 4 o'clock games ended I was winning by 2 points. I still had DeAngelo Williams, he still had Brandon Jacobs. DeAngelo scores 2.6 before getting hurt, making my lead just under 5 points. Jacobs scores 6.3 points. I lose by 1.5 points. f***ing livid. I had the 2nd seed and the most points scored this year and Thomas Jones only gets my 5 points this week and Williams gets hurt in the first quarter! If Williams played one more series I probably win. Or if Welker caught just one of those 5 or 6 balls just behind him I win. Or if I played any of my bench guys at my flex position I win. Never been this mad about fantasy football before.
  20. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Dec 22, 2009 -> 11:56 AM) So, the Yankees get another great player for absolutely nothing again. Now, this is competitive balance. Javy is far from great and Melky is not a nothing player.
  21. The League was picked up for another season! 13 episodes next year.
  22. I also always press the lock button for my car door with the electronic thing 4 or 5 times everytime I want to lock my car.
  23. So Reifert is doing this via twitter so I figured I'd start a thread up here to get everyone's thoughts. I'm sure i'm forgetting something but top 10 for me would be something like this 1-Final out of the WS 2-MB's perfect game 3-Pods HR 4-Game 163 5-PK's grand slam 6-4 HRs off Randy Johnson in one inning 7-Thome's 500th 8-Thomas' return to Chicago 9-Sox-Tigers brawl 10-Crede's walkoff vs the Indians in '05 Honorable mention: MB's no hitter; Loaiza starting the ASG in Chicago; El Duque's inning; AJ's dropped strike 3; Cubs-Sox brawl; Back-back-back-back HRs; Blum's HR
  24. QUOTE (G&T @ Dec 21, 2009 -> 11:48 AM) According to Terry Boers and his people, the Sox did not think they would be stuck with Rios' salary. That was unplanned. What did they think was going to happen when they claimed him then?
