Algeria and Greece have advanced so far today. -
QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Nov 18, 2009 -> 12:15 PM) If Flowers is traded it really puts the Sox in a spot. They bring in Blanco and then they risk severing the relationship with AJ. As things stand now, I bet AJ would back for a series of short term cheaper deals........it would just have to guarantee him playing time. It's the same deal if they keep Flowers though. AJ would be gone after this year, I'd bet Why???

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Nov 18, 2009 -> 11:21 AM) Got Assassin's Creed II yesterday. I'll let you guys know how it is, as I should have plenty of time to play it the next few days (I had hernia surgery yesterday, ha). If you played AC I you'll find it starts off painfully slow. I understand they need the "tutorial" (b/c that's essentially what it is) for people who didn't play the first one, but most of it is somewhat annoying if you're already familiar with a lot of the aspects of the game. Graphics are beautiful. I've only played about 2 hours so far so I'm not really into yet nor have I been able to do much yet. Seems like there's much more to do though.

QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Nov 18, 2009 -> 10:07 AM) sorry if this has been asked and answered, but why isn't Mitchell playing somewhere or is he and I am completely missing it? The AFL is for AAA and AA players. I think teams can send like 1 player from the lower levels. It's not at all surprising Mitchell isn't there.

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Nov 17, 2009 -> 12:23 PM) Palin is a far right goddess. Simple as that. She is an idol. She's really not. Simple as that. I hear probably 10 times more about her in this thread than I do in every day news. An interview her comes on, I change the channel; I see an article on msn.com, I don't click it; I see an article in the newspaper, I don't read it. You greatly underestimate how many Republicans simple couldn't care less about her anymore. I wish she would just go away, and i'm fairly confident that's the majority opinion of people with half a brain now.

UConn's perimeter defense has been very disappointing to start the year. On the inside, it looks like they could lead the country in blocks per game for a ninth straight year (especially once Majok is eligible). Dyson has to start knocking down shots and Calhoun has to get one of his freshmen guards into games to knock down the three. Robinson/Walker/Dyson are way too hesitant. Like what I'm seeing from Coombs-McDaniel so far as far as aggressiveness goes. -
SN: White Sox Show Interest in Henry Blanco
ChiSox_Sonix replied to Chisoxfn's topic in Pale Hose Talk
If they do sign Blanco I'd say it's a much safer bet to assume Flowers will start the year in AAA rather than as our DH. If that does happen I'd hope we keep in Charlotte until June (like Beckham this year) and if he is producing and appears ready then we could call him up after the magic date and save another year of his services, -
Beckham finished 5th. Don't agree with that.
-
QUOTE (103 mph screwball @ Nov 16, 2009 -> 02:01 PM) Gary Matthews is a 10 million dollar Brian Anderson. Ouch. But if it allows you to get Adrian Gonzalez for a couple years at $5M you have to do it. How long is GMJ contract anyways?
-
QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Nov 16, 2009 -> 01:46 PM) If the John Danks extension is not going well he could be going with Konerko to the Angels for a ton. Doubtful. But if that even was the case Hudson wouldnt be going anywhere. No way KW would be fine with Freddy and Torres as our 4/5 starters.
-
QUOTE (striker62704 @ Nov 16, 2009 -> 01:40 PM) What if Beckham was going to the Padres? Would you still pull the trigger? No. I know Adrian is a better player but we'd only have him for two years and we would have yet another hole on the offense we'd have to fill.
-
QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Nov 16, 2009 -> 01:27 PM) One of his draft day scouting reports said he should be able to make the transition to C. I don't know if he's played there or not, but he supposedly has all the tools to do it. If so, rather than look like an average 3B he could look like a potential All-Star catcher. Oh ok. Well if we trade Flowers they may work on a transition for him.
-
QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Nov 16, 2009 -> 01:21 PM) If it comes from Phil Rogers, take it with a grain of salt. When I saw this I immediately thought, "we're shopping Morel." When the Sox themselves say Viciedo can not/will not play 3B then we can pencil in Morel IMO. Until that point, there's no guarantee either of these guys are even in our organization two months from now. If we do keep Morel, and if we're going solely off scouting reports here, I'd love to move Morel to C. His value would skyrocket as a C given his bat and his ability to steal 25+ bags per year. I dont feel like looking it up...has he ever played catcher or are you just floating that idea out of nowhere?
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 16, 2009 -> 12:37 PM) Konerko to the Angels for Wood, Wood and Hudson to the Padres for AGon? Probably also need to include at least 1 if not 2 of Flowers/Danks/Viciedo too
-
QUOTE (docsox24 @ Nov 16, 2009 -> 12:27 PM) I dont see why the Angels would want Paulie. Kendry was damn good last year and better than PK. Not sure that they would give up much. Plus KW trades never are started with a rumor, they just happen. I am teased (but excited). The Angels have had their eyes on PK for years...kinda like how KW is accused of paying too much for guys he's had his eyes on, hopefully they do the same here
-
I hope the Angels over value PK so we may not have to give up as many prospects for AGon...this would be quite the deal if it works out. Like Jake Peavy times 5

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Nov 14, 2009 -> 07:34 PM) Uconn's men debut against William & Mary was a pretty entertaining game to be at.W & M kept it pretty close. They have some great 3 point shooting on that team. Loved how good Dyson looked in his first game back. Not many people at ESPN are mentioning them, but that backcourt is gonna be crazy good this year. Kemba Walker may have the quickest first step in the country (Collins/Lucas have an arguement) and Dyson can just take over a game at both ends of the court. If it's true that Walker's 3 point shot has improved they're gonna be dangerous. Really sucks Majok won't be available for the Kentucky game. Oriakhi's gonna have a good year but Okwandu is just brutal. No depth at all right now up front. -
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 16, 2009 -> 08:36 AM) Phil Rogers seems to feel that Brent Morel has surpassed Dayan Viciedo as the Sox' 3B of the future: From this article. I wonder if he actually heard anything from the Sox, or if he is just flinging s*** at the wall. My guess is the latter.

QUOTE (G&T @ Nov 12, 2009 -> 12:50 PM) Yeah, I've heard a lot of good things. I'm pretty excited. St. Catherine's Street is, um, interesting.

Beckham's Deep Thoughts on playing 2nd base
ChiSox_Sonix replied to CaliSoxFanViaSWside's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 12, 2009 -> 07:35 AM) KW's comments are nice and all, but calling Ramirez a "young player" as an excuse for his lack of focus is stretching it about as much as he was streching it when he said Marquez was Garland and Lillibridge would steal 40 bases in 2009. He's 28 years old. At least. Well in terms of his major league career he is "young". And he is right in the fact that he hadn't played the position regularly in 4 or 5 years so I don't really take what he said as that much of a stretch. Young doesnt always have to refer to age. -
QUOTE (jasonxctf @ Nov 10, 2009 -> 11:12 PM) if someone close to you died, and the murder was up for execution... would you support or be against the execution? I'll say that I would be against it... not that I'm pro-life or anything, but I'd just like the person to suffer each and every day of their live, living in a 4 ft by 4 ft cell, never seeing freedom again. I feel like executing them, is the cowards way out. Agreed entirely. I'm not anti-death penalty, but I too agree that they killer would suffer more by being in prison than he would by being executed.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 10, 2009 -> 04:45 PM) I honestly have no idea who that is. http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/d/deazaal01.shtml He actually won the Marlins opening day CF job in 2007 and was off to a pretty good start before getting hurt about a month into the year and killing his year.
