Juan "I came in hitting .180" Castro now has a walk to go with his double

QUOTE (mr_genius @ Aug 27, 2008 -> 07:19 PM) with a hitter like swish up next, moving runners over isn't really a priority IMO. He's not much of a hitter, he might draw a walk but the sacrifice is pointless then. He usually drives in runs with homeruns and he doesn't really have contact base hit or sac fly skills which are key to bringing in that runner on 3rd with less than 2 outs. He's basically a 'walk' or 'homerun' type. Wouldnt a HR guy by definition be able to get the ball up in the air with some decent pop? That translates into a guy who can give you a SF to me
-
I know you dont want to sac bunt with a guy like Ramirez, but there really is never an excuse for not scoring (let alone not even getting the runner to third) when you get a guy on second with no outs
-
Argh, Juan has left 2 on twice now

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Aug 27, 2008 -> 03:36 PM) ESPN boards back in the day were win. I know a lot of the first posters here came from there, and I eventually made the switch too once those boards became beyond awful. But really, they used to be great. I remember you from there too. I was much younger then and spent a ton of time on the computer. I had over 5K posts there before I came here. Those boards used to be a lot of fun, even with the trolls that would come over. I remember having actualy baseball chat with a Royals fan for an entire year through that board a year when they were decent. I also remember how you got your name; with the long running MB>KW and KW>MB debate that was on both Chicago boards seemingly all the time haha

Jason started it and a small core quickly became regulars, IIRC. I know i joined about a year later. I used to post on the espn.com boards with ss2k5, iwritecode and a few others. SS2k5 convinced me to make the switch

Boras questioning legitimacy of Alvarez deal
ChiSox_Sonix replied to witesoxfan's topic in The Diamond Club
I just read this too on espn. I really hate Scott Boras. He has done nothing positive for the game of baseball -
From a chat today on ESPN Steve (SD): I have first pick amongst the most recent MLB draftees...how do you rank the top 3 fantasy-wise? Jason Grey: Assuming quicker path to the majors is a factor, Wallace, G Beckham and Posey. T Beckham has the best chance to turn into a superstar, though he'll be in the minors quite a while.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 27, 2008 -> 01:15 PM) http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sp...1,3928547.story OUTSTANDING. Even one of their best players realize the fan base that shows up to Wrigley Field is, for the most part, a joke. I'm surprised to hear that coming from a current Cubs player's mouth. I wonder if the Cubs fans or media will get on him at all for that -
QUOTE (YASNY @ Aug 27, 2008 -> 12:32 PM) Then the Sox and Twins play a tie breaker and the results of the game are added to the standings, which means the loser of the game is out and the Red Sox are in as the WC. Are you sure? I always thought the two teams in the division played a game for the division, with the loser facing the other team for the WC.

This is very cool

Agreed. I rarely ventured into the PHT catch-all so personally I like this.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 26, 2008 -> 03:53 PM) LAX gets delayed a ton. Denver and SF are ok, but SF really isnt on your way, and either is LAX. Well to clarify, I'm going into DC for a couple days before i go back home to NY and i cant find a direct from Vegas to DC. The plane flights i've found all have a connection and its one of those three. Its not as if i am going to drive to one of those airports or something. Thanks for all the info everyone.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 26, 2008 -> 05:54 PM) I thought that had more to do with head injuries than it did anybody getting picked on. Probably a combination

So I am booking my ticket to Vegas sometime this week but I had a couple quick questions for anyone who's been there and/or out west. My return flight has to go through either Denver, LAX or San Francisco. Is there one you guys would recommend over the others in terms of least likely to get delayed and whatnot? Also, we are going to try to stay on the strip or just off of it. We'd like to be near some nice clubs. Any advice on where to stay? There's 4 of us and we'll only be there for 3 nights before going to Lake Havasu City so anywhere around 100-120 a night for the room is the range we're looking at. Finally, what are the best places to gamble with small mins (ie 5 or 10 dollars for blackjack) and what are some of the better bars/ngith clubs? Thanks for the help.
