QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 18, 2014 -> 10:16 AM) An out is recorded on a FC. All that other stuff is taken care of with ERA, and your batting average. But if there was no one on base you would have otherwise been out. Therefore, you are not being rewarded solely for reaching base at the expense of another baserunner.
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 18, 2014 -> 09:55 AM) I understand that, but that is handled for the pitcher with their ERA, and for the batters batting average. If it is 3 and 2 and the pitcher doesn't throw a strike, you go to first and that is earned. If the pitcher makes a good pitch and you hit one to 3rd and the 3rd baseman doesn't throw a strike, and you are safe, that already goes against your batting average, but you are on base and you didn't make an out, so it should go towards your OBP. It isn't enough to make a big difference, but it really doesn 't logically make sense to me. Same reason you don't credit for being on base when reaching via a fielder's choice. You only reached base because some unusual event occurred that allowed it, when otherwise the play would have resulted in you being out.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Sep 17, 2014 -> 08:22 PM) And for assaulting his kid. He really did not want to be topped. To be fair, this happened back in July, it's not like he just did it yesterday. Doesn't change anything but just a clarification. This will be interesting as Dwyer is a much more expendable player than AP, Hardy and Ray McDonald. -

QUOTE (SnB @ Sep 17, 2014 -> 04:40 PM) Vereen is going to make his points by receptions. Unfortunately, I think the pats will be up big again this week and they won't use him again. I'm sitting him for Joique in my league (PPR) I'm sitting Vereen for Rashad Jennings in my PPR league this week too QUOTE (ptatc @ Sep 17, 2014 -> 04:53 PM) Brian Quick or cordarelle Patterson in PPR? Quick is the best option for STL. Patterson may suffer with no AP. They couldn't throw at all last week. Patterson. Not even a debate. He can score every time he touches the ball and there are way too many pass catching options in STL to trust anyone there. Stedman Bailey will be back this week too and they really liked him in pre-season. -

QUOTE (chw42 @ Sep 17, 2014 -> 11:33 AM) I don't think Vereen would get those carries, it's more likely to be Bolden. I don't know. Vereen had 7 carries in Week 1 and Bolden isn't very good. It's hard to trust any of their RBs due to Belichick though. Tough call. -

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Sep 11, 2014 -> 12:45 PM) The possibility has to exist. Michael Taylor does exist. He is a human entity currently playing baseball for the Chicago White Sox baseball organization. Unicorns do not exist except in fictional fantasy and video games. They also exists in North Korea, duh. -
QUOTE (LDF @ Sep 11, 2014 -> 11:39 AM) have you ever had a corgi, b/c there are things you need to know. No. I grew up with Shelties, so I'm familiar with herding type dogs. And we did research so we didn't just randomly choose a breed. What are you referring to?
-
We bought a Pembroke Welsh Corgi about a month ago. Birthday present for the fiancee. Went with Cooper as a name which I'm sure is quite unoriginal. I wanted to name him Jamaal Charles but that was immediately shot down

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Sep 11, 2014 -> 10:40 AM) There's another guy in the NFL Mike & Mike were talking about this morning who was found guilty of assault in a domestic abuse case, he's appealing it, but there was an adjudication of the charge. And he's still playing. Greg Hardy? -

QUOTE (iamshack @ Sep 9, 2014 -> 04:32 PM) So if this was, say, a woman bodybuilder, who had slugged her boyfriend, do you think there would be anywhere near the same reaction? It's not exactly the same thing, but Hope Solo is still playing professional women's soccer and is still part of the USWNT despite her incident earlier in the year -

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Sep 8, 2014 -> 11:02 AM) Come on, let's have some perspective here. Rice is a terrible human being and he did a terrible thing, but he didn't murder someone. He didn't get his 6th DUI. If Goodell is lying about not having the seen the video, then yes, we could see a situation where there is pressure on him to resign. -

QUOTE (chw42 @ Sep 8, 2014 -> 10:28 AM) Seriously, screw Andy Reid for ignoring Jamaal. They deserved to lose the way they did. Instead of giving to to a guy who ran for 1500 yards last year, they let their game-manager QB throw 3 picks. Well it was obviously because they thought the way to win was to target Donnie Avery 14 times! lol The whole play calling was disastrous. -
Awful new video of what Ray Rice actually did in the elevator leaked today. Disclaimer: It's brutal. He needs to be suspended for a lot longer after witnessing this http://m.tmz.com/videos/0-ekaflcqq/

Kansas City could not have had a worse start. They looked awful, they refused to give Jamaal Charles the ball (7 carries, 4 targets) and played completely flat and uninspired. Oh, and they also lost their pro bowl MLB to a ruptured achilles in the 2nd quarter and then their starting NT to the same injury about 10 snaps later. This is gonna be a long season. Hopefully they suck enough to draft high enough to take Winston or Mariotta in the 2015 draft. -

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Sep 7, 2014 -> 09:56 AM) Really obscure officiating question: If you bothered to watch to the very end of the ND-UM game, on the last play, ND intercepted a pass and returned it for a touchdown. However, during the return, ND got a personal foul penalty. The officials ruled that, because "the game can't end on a defensive penalty", ND was penalized 15 yards from the spot and awarded an untimed down from that spot. So, while it mattered absolutely zero in this situation because of the score, that doesn't really seem like a fair rule in that case. Once ND intercepts the ball, they are really the offensive team and no longer the defensive team. If they committed a penalty during an interception return, it seems like it should just be the end of the game, just like if the offense had committed a penalty on the last play. Maybe these officials just applied the rule incorrectly, but if not, then the rule probably should be changed. It would really suck to lose a game that way. I don't know the rule but it seems that should be the case. If the ND player would have fumbled and Michigan recovered then it would have been a new set of downs because of a change in possession. That should imply that once the ball is initially turned over the possession changes and I would think the team in possession of the ball would always be considered the offensive team -

Unless Rashad Jennings gets 40 points, I'm going 2-0 this week. Andrew Luck, Le'Veon Bell and Julius Thomas put up huge numbers for me in the other league and if I can get a combined 27 points (PPR) out of Calvin Johnson and Keenan Allen tonight I'll win the weekly $$ prize as well. Good way to start the year. -

QUOTE (ptatc @ Sep 5, 2014 -> 03:18 PM) Spiller or J. Bell from Detroit in a PPR league for RB2. Bell. Spiller was so hit or miss last year splitting time with Jackson and now they have Bryce Brown as well. Plus, the Giants suck and I think the Lions are going to score a bunch and Bell is their goal line back in addition to the work he gets out of the backfield as part of the passing game. -

QUOTE (TRU @ Sep 5, 2014 -> 09:16 AM) What I read said that since its a negotiation between the NFL and Players Union they could have part of the negotiations be that its retroactive. Plus, the NFL really wants this HGH testing so it wouldnt surprise me if they gave up that to get the deal done. That would be awesome. Not just because I own Josh Gordon in my most important league, but he was a blast to watch play last year. And because both of those suspensions are pretty much bulls***. -

QUOTE (daa84 @ Sep 5, 2014 -> 08:53 AM) their road games: Easy Wins: @Was, @StL, @KC, Should Win: @Car Will Be Favored: @Phi, @Ari, @SD Toss Up: @SF Their more difficult road games feature multiple teams who are primed to/look as if they will take a step back this year (Ari, SF, Car, arguably SD and Phi too). I dont mean to say that I think they will go undefeated, or even that they have over a 50% chance of doing so. I do however, think theres ~10-20% chance of them going undefeated, which thus makes it a real possibility Not one of those road games are easy wins. Maybe the Redskins, but St Louis is a pretty good team with a tough defense and KC is a good team with one of the best home field advantages in the league. Carolina hinges on Newton's health, the Eagles and Chargers are decent and Arizona is like St Louis but with a better offense. And SF will without a doubt be a favorite in their game in SF, barring injuries. Taken individually, there is an easy case to be made for Seattle winning any of those 8 games. Taken as a group, that is a pretty difficult road schedule. All of those teams could finish with a .500+ record and have a shot at the playoffs. We're not talking about the Jaguars, Bills, Raiders or Jets here. -

QUOTE (TRU @ Sep 4, 2014 -> 10:56 PM) I dont know if anyone saw this or not, but Josh Gordon might have a chance to be reinstated and miss no time at all this year. The NFL and NFLPA are about to agree to HGH testing with some changing of the rules for drug testing which would include raising the fail limit for marijuana tests which would make Gordons failed test, not failed, and thus no longer suspended. I saw that and it mentioned Welker wouldn't have been suspended either, but I did not see anywhere that it mentioned the suspensions would be retroactively rescinded. I took it to be more of a going forward policy. Either way, I still am hanging on to Gordon in my deep league until I need the roster spot or he officially announces he is not going to attempt to sue to play -
I actually think Barnum, Hawkins and Beck all had positive seasons. Same with Saladino prior to the injury
