QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jan 20, 2014 -> 10:59 AM) Funny thing is Sherman was coached by Harbaugh at Stanford. IIRC, he wasn't Jim's biggest fan. There's a belief that he railroaded Sherman at the draft, causing his slide to the 5th round

This is a good article on Sherman More at link.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jan 20, 2014 -> 10:43 AM) It's not about being PC, it's about being a professional. Like it or not, these guys are role models for kids. I wouldn't want my kid acting like a clown after making a big play. I don't have a problem with him stating his opinion or even naming Crabtree in that interview. But the WWE-style delivery was dumb. Me either. Which is why I will teach them respect and humility. But I'm sick and tired of the athletes as role models line. Admire athletes for their physical gifts and skills, but not necessarily for who they are as a human being. The guy just won the game, was emotional and has a lingering hatred for Jim Harbaugh. Seeing an emotional, violent reaction come from an emotional man following a violent shouldn't be at all surprising.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 20, 2014 -> 09:10 AM) I dunno, his interview in season 3 was with an MIT rep and his character wiki says he enrolled at MIT http://shameless.wikia.com/wiki/Phillip_Gallagher_(US) Seems kind of silly that he would never be around the family if he is going to a Chicago based school There were signs for Chicago Polytechnic in the season opener. So either the Wiki is wrong or the show messed up and forgot to removed signage from their shots

QUOTE (oldsox @ Jan 20, 2014 -> 07:58 AM) I had a bunch of guys over for the football games yesterday, including a couple of zealots from Boston. The word they got from their contacts there is Tanaka will go to either Scrubs, Yanks, or Dodgers. All FWIW. Decision Day is Friday. That's quite the limb they went out on there.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 19, 2014 -> 10:39 PM) I understand people don't like Sherman, but I love the guy. He is the perfect heel, he has a crazy mouth and he can back it up with his play. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jan 19, 2014 -> 10:41 PM) Must be the wrestling fan in us but I completely agree. I hate wrestling but I agree. I don't get why everyone is so upset. It's a f***ing game. The guy is going to the superbowl and was full of emotion. He didn't swear or use vulgar language. America got to see him come across as an idiot but that's his right. Get over this ultra PC bulls*** our society is ultra-obsessed with nowadays.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 17, 2014 -> 10:35 AM) Kellen Winslow was jerkin it Yes, "looking for Boston Market" is incredible and what I am going to call jacking off from now on. That's really the only reason I'm posting this. Hold the gravy please!

QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jan 17, 2014 -> 03:07 AM) The last thing we need here is people rioting when Tanaka signs somewhere else, thinking that we were right there in the thick of it. I'm pretty sure that's how you get cancer. That's incredibly unfunny.

Nice win for UConn on the road at Memphis last night. DeAndre Daniels really stepped up -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 14, 2014 -> 04:04 PM) I finished the second episode last night. Honestly it is pretty boring and I am sick of the ominous narrator voice constantly being dubbed over with "IF THIS PROVES TO BE TRUE..." statements, when most of them don't pan out. Glad to see the coconut fibers were dated between 1290 and 1450, otherwise I might not have tuned in again. It is a cool legend and all, but in two hours (god knows how much real life time) they hadn't really found anything of substance, and I was losing interest. Well that's going to happen since they probably could have done this in a 2-hour documentary but are trying to push a whole show out of it. QUOTE (juddling @ Jan 15, 2014 -> 12:43 AM) I remember reading the same Readers Digest article the one brother read about the island and it always fascinated me as well. I caught a ad for the show a few weeks ago but I was assuming it was going to be a documentary on the island, history, etc. not so much a reality show. I agree that the announcer is beyond annoying as he tries to make every small thing sound like it could be a huge breakthrough. I have it set on the DVR just in case i miss it but then again...there isn't much on at 9pm sunday nights. **sidenote.....I DO believe that something of some value is buried there. will be interesting to see what if anything is down there. I've read a few works on the money pit as part of research for papers in college and I am pretty convinced that something is or was down there. There's no question in my mind that it is man made

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 14, 2014 -> 01:25 PM) Hilton is easily the best receiver between the two teams, even better than Harvin, but the Colts have nothing after that, especially after Fleener disappeared. Their other receivers were LaVon Brazill, Da'Rick Rogers, and Griff Whalen. At the very least, Wilson has multiple pass catchers he can throw to. The Seahawks have Tate and Baldwin. That's it. Fleener is better than Zach Miller and the RBs pass catching ability evens itself out. They're both not good but Luck had more players who could make plays
-
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jan 14, 2014 -> 01:16 PM) Someone in here mentioned yesterday that the Seahawks may have the worst WR corps in the NFL. With the current state of Percy Harvin, that's a definite possibility

So rumor is Johnny Depp is meeting with Marvel about playing Doctor Strange
-
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 14, 2014 -> 12:39 PM) Wilson also has a great running back to help divert some of the attention away from him. The Seahawks' receiver depth is also better than the Colts, as Luck was throwing to f*** all after Wayne went down (and besides Hilton). I really, really like Russell Wilson, but if you are going to argue that Russell Wilson is better than Andrew Luck, you're barking up the wrong tree. There are going to be very, very few people who will agree with that. That's not really true.

QUOTE (Paulstar @ Jan 13, 2014 -> 03:07 PM) The guy is special, he just has a lack of talent around him which has led to him trying to make too many things happen all by himself. He basically turned a 2-14 into a playoff team all by himself because nothing much else changed on that team from 2011 to 2012 except their defense. Wilson is the overrated one in my book. Right now he is a glorified Trent Dilfer. Unlike Dilfer, I actually like Wilson though and think he is much more talented than Dilfer to. But so far in his career, he's been in an easy situation to thrive in. He isn't asked to throw the ball much, and has a great defense and running game to support him. Plus, he has a great home field advantage in Seattle to. Put Wilson on the Colts and Luck on Seahawks 2 years ago, and people probably aren't talking about Wilson and instead Colt fans would be saying how much they miss Peyton. In Seattle with Luck, they're probably going to back to back Superbowls. Especially since he gets to throw to players like Sidney Rice, Golden Tate, Doug Baldwin and Zach Miller. A veritable murderer's row of receiving options.

QUOTE (SmashROT @ Jan 13, 2014 -> 11:56 AM) Can anyone suggest lodging? I've been surfing hotels and B&B's this morning and have yet to find an available room for that weekend. Probably have to stay out of town. There are several small towns but not sure about their accommodations. Oneonta is a nice little college town about 20 miles away and then Albany and Binghamton are bigger cities about an hour and 20 minutes or so away.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jan 13, 2014 -> 11:25 AM) Ugh, but Pete Carroll is the worst. Meh. Carroll, Belichick and Harbaugh are all equally "the worst" to me.

I started watching The Curse of Oak Island and it's really well done. That stuff has always fascinated me to begin with and I wrote a paper on pre-Columbian trans-Atlantic voyages in college so this was a no brainer for me to watch. But the show after that I mistakenly watched for a couple minutes because I meant to get to bed but couldn't stop watching. Appalachian Outlaws. It was surprisingly highly enjoyable and I can't wait for the next episode.

There is pretty much nothing likable at all about this version of the 49ers. The Patriots are still the Patriots and as a Chiefs fan I detest the Broncos. So I'm all aboard the Seahawks bandwagon from here on out. Russell Wilson is one of the most enjoyable QBs for me to watch play so I'm rooting for them

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 12, 2014 -> 03:27 PM) If you drive into the area on that day/morning, is there parking? QUOTE (ROC Sox Fan @ Jan 12, 2014 -> 04:08 PM) If I recall, there's not a ton of public parking (and this was a non-indution weekend) but there's big lots outside the village that have Trollies or something of that sort to bring you into town. Yes. Also, lots of people offer up their lawns for parking around $20 per day.

QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jan 10, 2014 -> 04:10 PM) Any new shows that started that are worth a watch?? Was thinking about Chicago PD and True Detective. I watched the premiere of Aliases. It was alright. Some of the accents were comically bad but it's based on a true (and very intriguing) story and the first episode was interesting.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jan 10, 2014 -> 01:45 PM) They also promote the fact that they believe in a mythical figure. If you truly believe in what is taught in some of those "theology" classes, then you may as well believe in Santa and the Easer Bunny as well. As do many other universities. BUY, St Johns, St Joe's, St Louis, DePaul, Providence, Xavier, Temple, Gonzaga, Santa Clara, Nova, Georgetown, BC, Baylor, Marquette, Seton Hall, etc... Your belief or disbelief in what they were founded by is pretty irrelevant -
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 10, 2014 -> 11:33 AM) So I was just kicking this around with a buddy: Say the Broncos go 1 and done in the playoffs again this season, what do you do if you are Elway? You have to imagine some of those offensive pieces are getting close to getting paid, they have a lot of money wrapped up in Manning right now. At what point does he have to accept that this probably wont work? Aren't Decker and Moreno free agents at the end of this season?
