  1. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 17, 2017 -> 12:55 AM) So basically tech incubator/s, maker's space....whatever you prefer to term it? Yes - using empty retail outlets in Downers Grove to be tech incubators, shared workspaces or even just offices for new startups and small businesses.
  2. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 16, 2017 -> 06:09 PM) So the anti-Amazon/Wal-Mart? How to drive demand/traffic? What niche are you going after...or you're trying to create a new market for certain products? What can you offer, other than subsidized/lower rents? I haven't thought it all the way through, but basically if brick and mortar stores are closing and people aren't flocking to create retail businesses, why not provide incentives to have startups and entrepreneurs take those empty retail locations? It's just a thought, even though Illinois is in the financial state it is in. In other words, make Downers Grove a place for startups like San Francisco and Chicago.
  3. Go back to school to get a master's degree in secondary education, take courses in journalism and get my data science certificate (I am pursuing this in the fall). Buy a house, car and invest the rest in a startup scene in empty retailers in Downers Grove while I go find work in something that doesn't pay but is something I would love to do. Money can't buy you happiness, but what can happiness buy you?
  4. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Jun 14, 2017 -> 10:01 AM) Dems own this, like it or not. poor taste or not. What's your point?
  5. QUOTE (raBBit @ Jun 9, 2017 -> 12:41 AM) What?
  6. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Jun 8, 2017 -> 07:26 PM) Well said. I'm very very independent myself. I know this isn't a popular opinion on here but I still maintain that the Clinton campaign used the Russia hacking situation as a distraction from the somehow ignored conspiracy against Sanders. That deflection has become this huge thing and I would bet my house that nobody on Trump's team including Trump is/was acting as some kind of Agent for Russia. A lot of people have already suffered and been smeared because of this. I don't like Trump but I want him to be able to get to work being President without all this baggage. Some of his ideas are bold and I'd like to see him get his shot. But it's not a good thing for America if the deck is stacked against the President, no matter who it is. Trump's gotta do his part and shut up about it too. Like you said, at some point let's get back to working on America. A whole ton of people didn't like Obama's lack of any leadership position prior to becoming President but he still got his shot. His legacy is Donald Trump like it or not. As an independent myself, sure, I'll let him get to work, even if I don't like him. But his policies and agenda aren't working for all Americans, like he had promised he would work for everyone on election night. I doubt he gets impeached, but I would like to see things get done in congress that aren't just a republican agenda. I wish there were more independents and moderates that worked together and everything wasn't so partisan, but I am probably in the minority here.
  7. I don't mind losing, but we can't keep having guys like Quintana, Robertson and Frazier perform poorly. It hurts the acceleration of the rebuild.
  8. We better hope he returns to form by the deadline and they can move him for something to move the rebuild forward. Otherwise we need a solid year the rest of the season and they need to trade him in the offseason. Sonny Gray kicked ass and looks like the better value right now. Darkish too. I hope they do deal Robertson though. As far as I am concerned, they need a 3B, C, and OF in some transactions over the next year or so.
  9. I recently listened to ESPN radio 1000 in the afternoon on the TuneIn radio app and noticed how bad some of those shows are from a learning standpoint compared to Bernstein and Goff. I do think that B&G gets old after some time and even to an extent the morning show on 670, but that might be because of the fact it is the Cubs flagship station and heading the Go Cubs Go song and World Series highlights gets old after several hours of listening. I do like the humor on the afternoon show on AM 1000 and their transition is better. I grew up with McNeil, Jurko and Harry and loved them, the show that was on before them in that slot with Lou Connelis (who is unbearable on Fox now) and also enjoyed McNeil and Spiegel as well.
  10. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 23, 2017 -> 09:25 AM) http://www.insideradio.com/people_moves/ma...ee01fa52dd.html 16 years... CBS Radio sports “The Score” WSCR (670) Chicago producer/anchor Matt Abbatacola leaves the station after 16 years. According to Chicago media reporter Robert Feder, Abbatacola was passed over earlier this year for the co-host position with Dan Bernstein when Terry Boers retired in January. That position went to midday host Jason Goff who is now paired with Bernstein in afternoons. “The Score” operations manager Mitch Rosen confirmed Abbatacola’s exit telling Feder, “I wish him nothing but the best.” Damn, there goes my can't do it with Spiegel - "With the recent shuffle of shows at 670 the Score, which promoted Nick Shepkowski and relegated Matt Abbatacola to update duties, do you find that to be a fair move by management?"
  11. Can we just make the consensus to call him Robert or Ro-beart instead of Ro-bear until the White Sox confirm the name? Or are we going to be like that dumbass stoner Danny Parkins and say Ro-bear (like Voltaire)?
  12. QUOTE (Heads22 @ May 20, 2017 -> 12:49 PM) Did anyone ever clarify how to pronounce his name? Spiegel and Parkins kept saying Ro-bear until Rick Camp or Jay Zawaski said a Baseball America writer says "Robert."
  13. Can someone provide a link to his instagram account? Do the Cardinals have a history of bringing in Cuban ballplayers like the Sox do?
  14. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ May 6, 2017 -> 09:23 AM) I guess it's what a rebuilding process looks like He's got a decent scouting report but seems to have had some setbacks. I haven't paid close attention to him pitching but if I remember correctly he got lit up at least once this year. Maybe he'll slide to the bullpen when Shields or Rodon gets back instead of being sent back to Oakland.
  15. QUOTE (InTheDriversSeat @ May 6, 2017 -> 08:44 AM) True, but the Sox can't send Dylan Covey down to the minors because he was a 'Rule 5 Draft' selection. Rules require that he stays with the MLB club for the entire season, or else he gets released and returned to his former organization (Oakland). The Sox can only send down Dylan Covey next season, like what happened to Adrian Nieto. . Would it be so terrible to do that, or would it just be better to keep him up here to tank and see what this kid has?
  16. Pros: - The Bears finally get what their fans want, a quarterback. - The Bears can continue tanking and draft with the picks next year, trying to shore up a defense and offense thirsty for playmakers. - Ryan Pace and John ? have to own this pick, Pace could be fired after ? is canned. - Kendall Wright, Markus Wheaton, Eddie Royal, Cameron Meredith and Kevin White can be thrown to. - Jordan Howard might get better as a result of this pick. - Look up third round picks since Lance Briggs, only Hroniss Grasu looks like the only good pick. Cons: - They still have depth issues in the secondary. - They gutted their draft picks this year. - San Francisco may not have gotten the Cleveland Browns to trade with them and fleeced the Bears.
  17. So much for seeing a good ballgame at my birthday game.
  18. I was going to say that the guys who have trade value had good games, but I realized that would be false as not all of them had good games. The offense is brutal.
  19. I'm late to this party, but I want to be on the Tank for Beer party train. Can someone link me to a scouting report and tell me why he will go number one in the draft?
  20. Sucks to suck, team USA. Andrew Miller s*** the bed again.
  21. Robertson got out of a jam, looked good. Hopefully it helps his trade value.
  22. Does this mean no Leinenkugels?
  23. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Mar 4, 2017 -> 05:55 PM) He's joking Oh ok. I haven't spent too much time in here so I'm still figuring out what everyone thinks.
  24. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Mar 4, 2017 -> 09:46 AM) Way too many negative nellies in here. Hoping to see an uptick of posts telling us how his approval ratings are improving and that we need to give him a chance since he's our President. Huh? I've tried to give him a chance but don't agree with his policies so it is hard to. To me, he is growing more ridiculous by the day. This Obama claim is hard to believe too.
  25. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Mar 3, 2017 -> 08:43 AM) http://money.cnn.com/2017/03/03/news/econo...jobs/index.html Trump voters in the Rust Belt want good jobs now Good luck to them, I don't think they'll ever see $30 an hour jobs again with automation hanging around. Maybe this will in fact hurt Trump in 2020.
