QUOTE (iamshack @ Oct 4, 2016 -> 09:59 PM) My best friend...the man and his father that I named my son after...two very intelligent, rational, reasonable, good people....actually support Trump. It has more to do with the state of our political system than with the candidate they support. At least that's what I keep telling myself. I would go so far to say that I would rather see a Cubs World Series than President Trump. The two party system isn't a good thing and neither is the gridlock in Washington. I am actually voting republican in Illinois so there are people who can stand up to Michael Madigan. I am not big on Hillary but my conscience won't allow me to vote for Trump as well as my head.
-
Is any other voter terrified of Donald Trump becoming President? It seems more and more possible as each day goes by. It's rather frightening, if you ask me...and I am an independent voting for both sides this election.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Oct 4, 2016 -> 06:17 AM) Lmao called it. So this dude was bluffing the whole time?

Frankly I don't really care. I'm still voting for her instead of Biff Tannen. What could be so damaging to middle of the road voters that would make her be "done?"

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Oct 2, 2016 -> 01:56 PM) Jimmy Johnson putting nails in Cutler's coffin with the Bears sitting at 7 points in the first half. Seems about right. Jimmy Johnson is an old fool. Cutler may be back before the year is over.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Oct 2, 2016 -> 05:07 AM) If you bought into his transition to a moderate Republican and stripped away all of his extreme viewpoints and statements over the years. He seemed more on point regarding economic solutions and uplifting the middle class than most of his fellow Republicans. I've voted on both sides of the aisle and really was looking to vote for someone that could work across party lines to get things done. I can accept that politicians change their minds and some will say what they will to get elected. I just felt like Kasich was the adult in the room during the republican debates and had much more substance to his arguments and policies than the brash GOP nominee did. I'm not really looking forward to having to vote for one party for president and the other party for the state elections, but like the Northsiders winning the World Series, it is what it is.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 2, 2016 -> 01:21 AM) Does Trump actually have any supporters? He's going to lose in a landslide. The sad thing is some Americans think Hillary is just as bad as Trump and I am one of them. She is no better. Our country couldn't come up with better candidates?? There was a better candidate - his name was John Kasich.

QUOTE (flavum @ Oct 1, 2016 -> 07:10 PM) I want to be the first one to say that we're not calling him "Ricky". He can let that stay with the Cubs and their homer reporters. I already corrected a friend of mine who said "I told you they were going to hire Ricky." It's Rick - let's not be homer Cubs reporters.

QUOTE (chisoxt @ Oct 1, 2016 -> 08:22 PM) If true then the dominoes will start to fall into place and a rebuild will commence ....I would not be surprised if Sale was the first to go. I wonder who made the Shields move, was that a KW move or a Hahn move? If it's KW's move, then I wonder if that had any hand in him getting fired (not just that trade alone though). I doubt Sale would be the first to go, but I do think they'd move guys like Quintana, Robertson and Cabrera...not that there's a lot of value for the last two guys.

QUOTE (Baron @ Oct 1, 2016 -> 07:31 PM) Barstool guy if you consider him legit. Sounds a little more to me like reading the tea leaves. That would be the news off the year if it's true.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Oct 1, 2016 -> 07:27 PM) Clearly, every really good manager can mean a difference of 2-3 games per season, and bad ones 2-3 additional losses. Let's just hope we finally see consistent refinement in some of the fundamentals, especially from the non-veteran players like Anderson, Tilson and Saladino (scary to say rebuilding without a young core of position talent beyond that, and hopefully Collins in late 2017). Do we think they'll do a sell off or they'll retool? I hope they trade some pitching to get some young bats.

QUOTE (Baron @ Oct 1, 2016 -> 07:21 PM) I would like a full cleaning of the house...but they arent putting Rick Hahn out there only for him to get fired later...he's staying I would have loved a full cleaning of the house too, including Don Cooper. I don't care what he's done with pitchers, it doesn't hurt to do a full fall cleaning once in awhile. Plus some jackass told me "I didn't know baseball" since I thought it would be a good idea to let everyone go, including Cooper.
-
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Oct 1, 2016 -> 06:38 PM) Well Don Cooper will be staying. I wonder if a new hitting coach will be hired and if there will be staff changes. Well, I guess Renteria is better than Ventura out there and I would hope they'd hire some new coaches. I guess it's fine that Cooper stays. And I guess Sox fans will get what they want.

Hopefully Benetti doesn't leave the organization for another job because it's not full time.

Why do I get a bad feeling about this...
-
1.) The McCaskeys are part of the problem, is what I thought when I saw Virginia McCaskey in the box. 2.) Football is not an individual sport, so the blame can't be solely on Cutler when the defense isn't stopping anyone on downs that matter. There are so many holes outside of the QB position, it's not even funny. 3.) I don't know why it isn't obvious to Cutler haters that they can just wait this year out, let the guaranteed money get paid and they can draft a young QB in the first four rounds. Then again, they need more defensive help than a QB. 4.) Meatheads will say Hoyer should be the starter the rest of the year and that he is better than Cutler. Or say he doesn't care because he's not passionate on the field. Tools.

QUOTE (staxx @ Sep 25, 2016 -> 11:13 AM) Good call on Dorsett. I was mostly between Parker and him. I'd go Crabtree and Cobb for you. That's what I went with, thanks!
-
Randall Cobb, Michael Crabtree and Michael Floyd. 3 pick 2.
-
QUOTE (staxx @ Sep 25, 2016 -> 09:49 AM) Philip Dorsett, Allen Hurns, or Devante Parker Need 1 for WR slot. That is a tough call, but I would actually go Dorsett. Parker is questionable and I don't trust Miami's offense and Hurns is going against the Ravens pass defense. Dorsett is the team leading receiver in terms of yardage.
-
I'm taking a chance and am starting the Miami defense over the Jets and Giants. Thoughts?
-
I just can't believe people actually believe Cutler is the only problem on this team. Check out Facebook threads or talk to people about the Bears. They say they hate Cutler and want him cut, traded or benched but offer no solutions for the QB position. Furthermore, they don't comment on how the defense is the one that gives up third and fourth down conversions as well as TDs at will. As a team, the Bears just collectively suck - you can't blame Cutler for everything or even insist he's the main problem. Call me an apologist but I really don't agree that he's the main issue on the team.

QUOTE (bmags @ Sep 19, 2016 -> 10:16 PM) I used to think this but I'm done with it. Is he Jim Miller bad? No. But last year at end I looked and saw all these "bad qbs" with better numbers. That we hope to get 20tds and 10 INTs as a "good" year under him shows how much we are losing. Does he singlehandedly lose us games? No, but you need a QB that wins you them. That plan of action does sound good though...a rookie QB and depth. That and maybe a Jeffery departure to really rebuild may be what they need. Look at the roster turnover the Eagles had as an example.
-
Cutler didn't have a good night but he's only responsible for 6 points. The defense gave up the rest. He didn't get any positive momentum going though. I think it's time to just lose, pay him his guaranteed money and cut him after the year. Then draft the QB everyone wants if they can trust the regime to do that. I would rather see them build up the defense though. I've seen plenty of meat headed posts on Facebook about Cutler though.

QUOTE (Brian @ Sep 16, 2016 -> 09:18 AM) My grandpa died in 1995, never saw a Cubs World Series. I was lucky enough to see my team win one when I was 25. As annoying as some Cubs fans are, I just don't care if they win it all. They saw us celebrate already. They can certainly celebrate, but I am more worried about the insults that they'll have for the next crosstown classic and for when the Sox and Cubs banter gets aggressive. I have said that I'll congratulate the Cubs for winning the World Series and I'll be happy for people who I love that will see that, but I won't be happy for all of the assholes that I know that love them.

Let me ask you all this. Is there, or should there be "Chicago fans," where people are loyal to one team but cheer for the other in the postseason if their team is not there? And, if your wife/girlfriend/family/friends are Cubs fans or have ties to being Cubs fans, how would you approach what is about to happen this October? My approach right now is to just not address it and say they are having a hell of the season. I wish them well but I am not actively cheering for or against them. I really can't see anyone but the Nationals having a legit shot beating the Northsiders in the postseason.
