QUOTE (iWin4Ron @ Sep 15, 2016 -> 09:35 AM) I'm with you Greg. It's really an amazing time to be a live and in the great city of Chicago. I, for one, moved near Wrigley field (within a walk 0.5 mi away) to get to enjoy this wonderful moment coming. I moved out of Uptown just in time so I wouldn't have to be around there. My fiancé and her mom will be celebrating, but other than those two people I won't be happy for the other assholes who I know are Cubs fans (except for some elderly people).

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Sep 13, 2016 -> 12:40 PM) 2013 Red Sox, 2009 Yankees, 2007 Red Sox are the only three teams in the past decade to win the World Series after having the best record in baseball. If you wanna crown the Cubs, then crown their asses. But that's why we have the playoffs. Here's to hoping you're right. Would love them to end up like the 2001 Mariners.

I'm not a fan of West but am all for speeding up the game. I'm glad I don't have to read a headline of another no hitter that is associated with the Cubs. But I'll have to see headlines and posts about a Cubs World Series this year. Book it. It's almost healthier to accept it before it happens.

Would people want Braun in the outfield?

QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Sep 8, 2016 -> 09:06 AM) The cubs did a baseball wide organizational rebuild which focused on philosophies on how they wanted to go about building their team. The white sox are not firing everyone from KW on down nor do they have any idea on how to build a team other than getting guys that had good stats on the baseball card as viewed in 1988. Okay, but they should be able to listen on offers for any ballplayer. If they don't consider the teardown, they are fools. And I'll gladly go to SoxFest, practice a good rant ahead of time and rip KW and RH a new one. Moreso KW, since he's the asshole running this s***show.

QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 7, 2016 -> 08:52 PM) Their front office is superior in the scouting department unlike our front office. The Cubs model will not work for the Sox. They got it right on a couple of picks. The players they traded away are nowhere near the quality of a Sale or Q. The Russell trade is a form of luck. The only other organization that could make a boneheaded move like that is the Sox. Okay, so why can't the Sox do what the Cubs did and do a complete teardown? The owner argument? The lack of fan trust in management to do a successful rebuild (and acquire the right pieces)? Or are the players we have to offer not what the Cubs did? The Russell, Rizxo and Strop/Arrieta trades were all luck.

Can someone explain the outrage over releasing Gould and how the meatballs are upset by the direction Pace has taken? It's a complete rebuild that isn't done yet - I doubt Cutler, Jeffery, Houston and Royal are in the future plans.

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Aug 4, 2016 -> 07:08 AM) A week on the job and I already want to gauge my eyes out. I cannot sit for 8 hours a day making phone calls. I have applied for grad school and to be a GA through athletic administration (sports information work). Grad school is free, and I get a paycheck every week including summer. So, I might go get my MBA and practice something that I know I will love doing. I had an opportunity to take a similar route and I would recommend getting the masters instead of just waiting. That way, if sports information doesn't pan out, you have the MBA and are pushed to the top of the pile over some other 20 something with some random experience. Make sure the masters is an MBA or something useful though. PM me if you'd like to discuss that path as I was looking at going into sports and worked in sports information for a bit too.

Why wouldn't they sign Josh Sitton at this point? They should have some cap room and they must know they need more depth at offensive line.

Bernstein: Sources say White Sox might be for sale
The Beast replied to bmags's topic in Pale Hose Talk
If they do sell, then would that mean leaving Chicago and Illinois? Is it likelier to happen than staying put? -

I don't post much but I lurk and read the boards - I am deeply saddened to hear of this. My condolences to you and your family. -

Way to go 1-5 on the road trip you motherf***ers. Hit the ball for a change to pick up the bullpen! Add a bat or sell. Sell, sell sell!

All-star gamethread: American League vs. National League

Hermy is at the game. Glad they are knocking the NL around. Sucks that Sale gave up a home run to a Cub, but maybe Quintana will get even for Sale. -

QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jul 10, 2016 -> 02:44 PM) Awful awful awful offense Justin Morneau to the rescue! I've been thinking of the 1 to 2 run games and think they would have won more if they had acquired some other hitter this offseason and not just kept Garcia. I know he's a young player still but I still don't see his value. Hope they can come back in this one or at least keep pace as we enter into August. I doubt they'll get anyone at the deadline though. -
QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 5, 2016 -> 04:31 PM) Everyone vs JimH. Everyone except SpankyEaton vs JimH.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jul 2, 2016 -> 12:35 PM) If you are playing a video game, why don't you just keep the White Sox awesome players and add more players? Because they always underachieved after the trade deadline. I loved dealing some vets for prospects and turning it around the next year or somehow turning it around that year. But it's not real life. If it were real life and we waved the White Flag, I would still deal Sale because it would turn the team around with the package they'd get. But as I've seen discussed here, you can't trust Hahn and the current regime to turn the team over and evaluate players correctly.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 30, 2016 -> 05:41 PM) SSS had a column on this, about the many lives of Avi Garcia this year. If Jackson hadn't gotten injured, if Coats hadn't sucked (and/or not been trusted by the front office 100%), if Melky hadn't gotten hurt, if Davidson hadn't gotten hurt. As it stands, he better start hitting for more power (he has had a few clutch singles with RISP) or Saladino's going to take some of his time away. With Bourgeois or Leury, he probably doesn't have much to worry much imo. Hopefully it's Bourgeois, that guy used to take it when I used to see him play.

QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Jun 30, 2016 -> 04:26 PM) what a bummer. Such bulls*** luck! Avi stays alive on this team as all of the replacements get injured or suck.

How can this not be it for Robin? Changes need to be made and it's not entirely his fault. -

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jun 12, 2016 -> 04:24 PM) Can we stop with the stupid relocating theories? It's utter f***ing nonsense. Baseball is looking to expand and has at least two franchises with legit cases to relocate. The Sox aren't going anywhere until their sweetheart lease deal ends in the very distant future and when it does they'll likely move to the suburbs or lakefront. They aren't leaving the Chicago metropolitan area. I think attendance would improve if they moved to the suburbs but it wouldn't happen. Given the recent renovations to the park I doubt they'll leave the Cell and if Jerry passes, they'll probably just clean house (from KW on down) and change philosophy. I didn't say they were going to move, I just hope it never happens (unless it is to the suburbs). -
Hopefully Anderson will be more patient at the plate going forward. I realize double plays happen but he was not patient and swung early in the count. It's nice to see some young energy in the infield though, and I hope he can contribute like some of the Northsiders prospects have (Schwarber, Bryant).
-
I've noticed that Lawrie is always in an 0-2 count...pitchers must know to get ahead of him and he'll be an automatic out.

QUOTE (JoshPR @ Jun 12, 2016 -> 03:52 PM) Huh? Whats that supposed to mean Poor performance and bad attendance and Jerry's passing = a relocation to another city.
