  1. 1.) The McCaskeys are part of the problem, is what I thought when I saw Virginia McCaskey in the box. 2.) Football is not an individual sport, so the blame can't be solely on Cutler when the defense isn't stopping anyone on downs that matter. There are so many holes outside of the QB position, it's not even funny. 3.) I don't know why it isn't obvious to Cutler haters that they can just wait this year out, let the guaranteed money get paid and they can draft a young QB in the first four rounds. Then again, they need more defensive help than a QB. 4.) Meatheads will say Hoyer should be the starter the rest of the year and that he is better than Cutler. Or say he doesn't care because he's not passionate on the field. Tools.
  2. QUOTE (staxx @ Sep 25, 2016 -> 11:13 AM) Good call on Dorsett. I was mostly between Parker and him. I'd go Crabtree and Cobb for you. That's what I went with, thanks!
  3. Randall Cobb, Michael Crabtree and Michael Floyd. 3 pick 2.
  4. QUOTE (staxx @ Sep 25, 2016 -> 09:49 AM) Philip Dorsett, Allen Hurns, or Devante Parker Need 1 for WR slot. That is a tough call, but I would actually go Dorsett. Parker is questionable and I don't trust Miami's offense and Hurns is going against the Ravens pass defense. Dorsett is the team leading receiver in terms of yardage.
  5. I'm taking a chance and am starting the Miami defense over the Jets and Giants. Thoughts?
  6. I just can't believe people actually believe Cutler is the only problem on this team. Check out Facebook threads or talk to people about the Bears. They say they hate Cutler and want him cut, traded or benched but offer no solutions for the QB position. Furthermore, they don't comment on how the defense is the one that gives up third and fourth down conversions as well as TDs at will. As a team, the Bears just collectively suck - you can't blame Cutler for everything or even insist he's the main problem. Call me an apologist but I really don't agree that he's the main issue on the team.
  7. QUOTE (bmags @ Sep 19, 2016 -> 10:16 PM) I used to think this but I'm done with it. Is he Jim Miller bad? No. But last year at end I looked and saw all these "bad qbs" with better numbers. That we hope to get 20tds and 10 INTs as a "good" year under him shows how much we are losing. Does he singlehandedly lose us games? No, but you need a QB that wins you them. That plan of action does sound good though...a rookie QB and depth. That and maybe a Jeffery departure to really rebuild may be what they need. Look at the roster turnover the Eagles had as an example.
  8. Cutler didn't have a good night but he's only responsible for 6 points. The defense gave up the rest. He didn't get any positive momentum going though. I think it's time to just lose, pay him his guaranteed money and cut him after the year. Then draft the QB everyone wants if they can trust the regime to do that. I would rather see them build up the defense though. I've seen plenty of meat headed posts on Facebook about Cutler though.
  9. QUOTE (Brian @ Sep 16, 2016 -> 09:18 AM) My grandpa died in 1995, never saw a Cubs World Series. I was lucky enough to see my team win one when I was 25. As annoying as some Cubs fans are, I just don't care if they win it all. They saw us celebrate already. They can certainly celebrate, but I am more worried about the insults that they'll have for the next crosstown classic and for when the Sox and Cubs banter gets aggressive. I have said that I'll congratulate the Cubs for winning the World Series and I'll be happy for people who I love that will see that, but I won't be happy for all of the assholes that I know that love them.
  10. Let me ask you all this. Is there, or should there be "Chicago fans," where people are loyal to one team but cheer for the other in the postseason if their team is not there? And, if your wife/girlfriend/family/friends are Cubs fans or have ties to being Cubs fans, how would you approach what is about to happen this October? My approach right now is to just not address it and say they are having a hell of the season. I wish them well but I am not actively cheering for or against them. I really can't see anyone but the Nationals having a legit shot beating the Northsiders in the postseason.
  11. QUOTE (iWin4Ron @ Sep 15, 2016 -> 09:35 AM) I'm with you Greg. It's really an amazing time to be a live and in the great city of Chicago. I, for one, moved near Wrigley field (within a walk 0.5 mi away) to get to enjoy this wonderful moment coming. I moved out of Uptown just in time so I wouldn't have to be around there. My fiancé and her mom will be celebrating, but other than those two people I won't be happy for the other assholes who I know are Cubs fans (except for some elderly people).
  12. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Sep 13, 2016 -> 12:40 PM) 2013 Red Sox, 2009 Yankees, 2007 Red Sox are the only three teams in the past decade to win the World Series after having the best record in baseball. If you wanna crown the Cubs, then crown their asses. But that's why we have the playoffs. Here's to hoping you're right. Would love them to end up like the 2001 Mariners.
  13. I'm not a fan of West but am all for speeding up the game. I'm glad I don't have to read a headline of another no hitter that is associated with the Cubs. But I'll have to see headlines and posts about a Cubs World Series this year. Book it. It's almost healthier to accept it before it happens.
  14. Would people want Braun in the outfield?
  15. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Sep 8, 2016 -> 09:06 AM) The cubs did a baseball wide organizational rebuild which focused on philosophies on how they wanted to go about building their team. The white sox are not firing everyone from KW on down nor do they have any idea on how to build a team other than getting guys that had good stats on the baseball card as viewed in 1988. Okay, but they should be able to listen on offers for any ballplayer. If they don't consider the teardown, they are fools. And I'll gladly go to SoxFest, practice a good rant ahead of time and rip KW and RH a new one. Moreso KW, since he's the asshole running this s***show.
  16. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 7, 2016 -> 08:52 PM) Their front office is superior in the scouting department unlike our front office. The Cubs model will not work for the Sox. They got it right on a couple of picks. The players they traded away are nowhere near the quality of a Sale or Q. The Russell trade is a form of luck. The only other organization that could make a boneheaded move like that is the Sox. Okay, so why can't the Sox do what the Cubs did and do a complete teardown? The owner argument? The lack of fan trust in management to do a successful rebuild (and acquire the right pieces)? Or are the players we have to offer not what the Cubs did? The Russell, Rizxo and Strop/Arrieta trades were all luck.
  17. Can someone explain the outrage over releasing Gould and how the meatballs are upset by the direction Pace has taken? It's a complete rebuild that isn't done yet - I doubt Cutler, Jeffery, Houston and Royal are in the future plans.

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Aug 4, 2016 -> 07:08 AM) A week on the job and I already want to gauge my eyes out. I cannot sit for 8 hours a day making phone calls. I have applied for grad school and to be a GA through athletic administration (sports information work). Grad school is free, and I get a paycheck every week including summer. So, I might go get my MBA and practice something that I know I will love doing. I had an opportunity to take a similar route and I would recommend getting the masters instead of just waiting. That way, if sports information doesn't pan out, you have the MBA and are pushed to the top of the pile over some other 20 something with some random experience. Make sure the masters is an MBA or something useful though. PM me if you'd like to discuss that path as I was looking at going into sports and worked in sports information for a bit too.
  19. Why wouldn't they sign Josh Sitton at this point? They should have some cap room and they must know they need more depth at offensive line.
  20. If they do sell, then would that mean leaving Chicago and Illinois? Is it likelier to happen than staying put?
  21. I don't post much but I lurk and read the boards - I am deeply saddened to hear of this. My condolences to you and your family.
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 26, 2016 -> 04:36 PM) 670 The Score ‏@670TheScore 1h1 hour ago #Cubs DFA Clayton Richard to make room for Aroldis Chapman Dare the Sox take a flier with a waiver claim?
  23. Way to go 1-5 on the road trip you motherf***ers. Hit the ball for a change to pick up the bullpen! Add a bat or sell. Sell, sell sell!
  24. Hermy is at the game. Glad they are knocking the NL around. Sucks that Sale gave up a home run to a Cub, but maybe Quintana will get even for Sale.
  25. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jul 10, 2016 -> 02:44 PM) Awful awful awful offense Justin Morneau to the rescue! I've been thinking of the 1 to 2 run games and think they would have won more if they had acquired some other hitter this offseason and not just kept Garcia. I know he's a young player still but I still don't see his value. Hope they can come back in this one or at least keep pace as we enter into August. I doubt they'll get anyone at the deadline though.
