Sounds like Oakland was asking for MLB ready talent for the most part. Too bad they wanted nothing to do with Crochet, Burger, and Sheets. Murphy is a stud.
-
Are they? Reading conflicting reports on a lot of those guys
-
Why did Atlanta cut bait on Contreras so soon? This trade seems like a reaction to all the spending by Mets and Phillies.
-
Probably Crochet, Burger, and Sheets.
-
Like who?
-
That is true. However, that is also where the similiarities of the two rebuilds end.
-
I understand why the Sox would need to trade Hendricks if JR won't up the payroll. I just don't think it is a good idea. I also don't trust Rick Hahn to make a good trade. Hendricks value is also likely suppressed if he is as injured as you claim. Would he even pass a physical?
-
Feel bad for Oakland fans. Team is going to flee the Bay Area soon and they are likely to lose 100 plus games for the next 3 or 4 years.
-
Ha. 2022 isn't the only bad year Moncada has had. 2018 and 2020 werem't so hot either. Good thing the Sox didn't give up much for Moncada in the first place I suppose.
-
So are you saying that any guy can close? What do the Sox do if Lopez comes in and shits the bed as a closer?
-
Sox don't have the bullets to trade for Murphy. Also, what else do you expect Merkin to say? " Hey ladies and fellas, gather up the pitchforks and torches and get ready to storm the castle at 35th and Shileds cause the Sox are done with their offseason moves"
-
Let's just keep Hendricks and not put Lopez in the closers role. The Sox tried something like this with Matt Thornton way back when and it didn't work out well. What are all the data geeks saying about closers these days? Is it a job that any pitcher can do and putting big $$$ into a lockdown closer is no longer the savvy play?
-
Ha. Pretty sure all of White Sox nation would take the fruits of the Cubs rebuild over whatever it is that the Sox are doing. I guess Houston is the only juggernaut in recent baseball history?
-
Not sure you can trust Reylo in a position he has never done before. That is usually called setting your employees up to fail.
-
So who is your closer if you are trading away Hendricks? Does Graveman have experience as a closer?
-
Well Devers never got traded cause Boston knew what they had. Moncada was all style and no subtance. Keep being a Hahn stan if you want though. It's been working real great the last 6 years.
-
Yep. It's actually like they took the time to scout their own guys and project them out. Some organizations put in the work. Others sit on the couch and and eat cheetos and hot pockets all day and wonder why their pants don't fit anymore.

https://www.nbcsports.com/boston/red-sox/how-close-did-red-sox-come-trading-rafael-devers-chris-sale-let-dave-dombrowski-explain Dombrowski is quoted in the article as saying their reports were very smiliar for Benintendi, Devers, and Moncada. The Hahn quotes in that article have aged poorly as well. Still waiting for that first playoff series win yet a WS championship or two.
-
Or The Sox just did a terrible job of scouting the Yankees prospects and asked for total bums?
-
Sure. However, it is now six years later and the same front office that made the Sale trade is still around. There wer also warning signs with Moncada ( striking out like 70% of the time in his first cup of coffee and reports of terrible nutrition habits ( eating a box of twinkies a day). There is a reason why Boston was willing to trade Moncada and didn't declare him untouchable.
-
Good question. Hahn should have pushed harder for Devers instead of Moncada.
-
That article doesn't say anything about which stats are true and which stats are false in regards to Sox players.
-
Isn't Robert worth like 50 million plus? Surely the cat can afford lasik surgery or some designer glasses, no?
-
Do you have a source on this is exactly where stats lie?
-
Seriously? Do you have any links to a scouting report that links Madrigal to the OG Tony Gywnn? Any kid with that kind of bat profile is likely getting picked 1:1 straight out of high school and has no need for college baseball. It was never ever okay to take Madrigal with a top 5 pick.
