April 28th Game Thread 1:05 first pitch

WOW!!! This is the ULTIMATE Love/Hate team!!! You ultimately LOVE them, but they sure do make you start to hate them from time to time!!! LOL!!! I was actually telling my wife last night how much I love this team, and my boss the other day, even during the bad times, I love the heart and energy they have. Yeah, some might hate Ozzie, but there is no doubt that they are playing this way pretty much due to him. I love him. -

Wow! I turned the game off a little while ago, and then they started to come to life! I'll do all of us a favor, and I will keep it off and just pay attention here!!! -

Geez, maybe the Indians will win the Central. Lord knows it doesn't look like we should. :puke ***keep telling myself it is only April and we have been good so far...kind of*** -
Well, just to say that i have noticed that the Sox do NOT get any kind of coverage in the NW Herald. On more than one occasion you have to search really hard to find any coverage. But ya know, when I was a kid growing up in the area, they once had the fire department cleaning it's floors as the headline story on the front page. The Herald has always sucked. No big deal. The Cubs will be the media darlings for the next...years. Oh well. The media also loves to exploit violence, pain, and human suffering, so why look to them for what is correct to give the public? Heck, covering the Cubs is par for course with them.

You don't think Mariotti was talking about the Sox getting an announcer like Chip Carey...do you? I mean, is Mariotti that f'ed in the head that he might consider the Chipster to actually being good? I have run into many Cub fans that hate our announcers, but as long as they have Chip, Ron, and Pat, I just let their words roll on by. Chip is as bad as Jim Rome as far as annoying people go. :puke

It just would not have been what I believe in. No medical reasons, or anything legit like that, other than what I believe in my heart. I don't have enough room here for my explanations, or the time. I can't claim it on religion, due to not being overly religious. I guess it would come down to my belief in everything having a right to life. No matter how I look at things, and no matter how much certain events in the world hurt, I can't get past the belief that nobody is right. Does this make any sense? I was 19 and on my way out the door to enlist in the Marines. My Dad is an ex-Marine (if there is such a creature) who always made sure everybody knew he was a Marine, and spent his life telling me to get my butt into the corp. Well, as i was on my way out the door, he pulled me aside, and we sat down and talked. I never joined because of him. A few months later the whole Desert Shield stuff started up. I have no doubt that I could defend my family and do what I need to do, after all I have many years of Martial Arts training. But I really never felt like the US has ever been in any real danger. The danger we face is a danger that no military can actually stop. Pat Tillman fought for a belief he had, and he has much respect from me for that, and so do the other people who serve in the military. I understand we need a military, but it just wasn't the path that my life was meant to take, and of that I am certain. Probably as certain as Pat was of the path he chose, he just made a greater sacrifice at an earlier time in his life than I might eventually. Oh, and I will freely admit that when I was 19 I was a selfish jerk who had a lot to learn in life. At 33, I have learned quite a bit.
-
Really? I did not know that. I guess if you have a green card and can work in the US, then you can also fight for it? Thanks for the info.
-
But is Shammy a citizen? Also, let's not fault somebody for NOT joining a military branch and serving his or hers country. It is an honorable thing that Pat did, but I am sure that he would be the first to say that his choice was not the correct choice for everybody. I might be covering my own butt as I never have served, but it also would have been wrong for me to have served. But the people who have served, and continue to serve, I will always say are braver than I.

I'm not a football fan at all, and don't follow the game a bit, but his name and the pictures of him I do remember, for some reason. Seems like he was a heck of a guy, and one full of integrity. Hopefully he found what it was that he was after, and hopefully he will be a bit of a lightening rod to other people in following your heart.
-
Yeah, I'm not too worried about this. He didn't hit worth a squat for a few games there. I think we will be fine.

does anyone else really hate Jim Rome?
Kid Gleason replied to sox4lifeinPA's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
I don't know anybody who can come close to even tolerating the guy! Geesh, I would almost rather have The Huge Show back on! Atleast there was a really good mind to go along with the idiotic ramblings on that show! No offense to anybody here, as this is a sports site, but Rome reminds me of the musclehead asshole jocks I so despised in high school. Plus that whole voice and speech of his...ugh. And yes, I do NOT listen to him, but my hand will never be fast enough to turn down the volume before they put one of his commercials on ESPN, and I actually do enjoy Mike and Mike, Mac, Jurko and Harry and I don't plan to stop listening to them. Guess I wil just have to deal with that "phenomonal" annoyance until ESPN gets their heads out of their butts. But I think I have another case of Mancow on my hands, and I think I am stuck. I'm all for free speech, but those two jags make me rethink my stance! -

Ah, it's pretty much just like any organization like this though, the heart is in the right place, but the head is shoved so far up the ass that the cause gets lost in all the s***. -

It's cool that Ozzie leaves the pitchers out there to get out of jams for themselves early in the games, but should that REALLY be the mindset in the 9th inning with a pitcher known for blowing games? I know we are onto Adkins (Atkins? I can't remember), but this confuses me.
-
I think Ozzie is still being aggresive on the basepaths. Oh, Ozzie is on the top step! Probably signaling for a steal.
-
I think you are forgiven. We can forgive a LOT considering the circumstances...
