I think part of the problem is that we have a scewed view on how things are elsewhere. Heck, anytime we see a fresh pitcher straight out of the minors, they shut us down and make us look like little league players. So obviously we think that is how every minor league pitcher is supposed to play.

In the beginning, wasn't Frank known mainly for getting those silly little bllop singles that nobody could get to? Well, basically wasn't it for the fact that he would put the ball almost anyplace he could? No matter what, he was going to get the job done? He just seems to be trying too hard still. I still love the guy, and think the Sox should keep him around for his whole career, but when he isn't hitting strong, he just isn't hitting. He is still a very smart hitter in the box, unlike many of our other "power" guys who swing at the first pitch and always seem to get out.

I love all of them, but I have to say Farm and Roon. There is more knowledge there and they speak the truth a little more. Hawk, to me, is what Ron Santo would be like if he was good at his job. I like Ronnie, and think he should have a talk show based soley on the Cubs, but he is no good for being in the booth. Hawk is a 100% company man, and obviously LOVES the Sox, but he lets his love get in the way of the job too much, but he is still great. DJ is getting better each year. His first year made me SERIOULSY miss Wimpy. I still miss Wimp, and loved the interplay he had with Hawk, but DJ is the becoming the better broadcaster. Farm and Roon just work great together, IMO, in every aspect.

I have to ask again: Do we have the same scouts as we have had for the past 5+ years? How can a team that has gone through so many changes with coaches and the manager still have the same problems with rookie pitchers and pitchers they have never seen? What is the deal with this? This has been the most consistent problem with the Sox since I can remember, and it is pathetic. Heck, every team in the majors just needs to call up their AAA pitchers when they go to face us and they have a garaunteed sweep!
-
Gee, never seen them do that before. How is it after coaching change AND manager change, we still have this problem??? Are our scouts still the same?

Winston and Baker are better with creatures, but NOBODY did gore in the 80's like Savini! Now days there are no great "artists, just companies. Though Baker keeps proving he is more than a mortal man.

I think what the conspiracy folk are getting at is that he DIDN'T die, and that it is all FX. That is where the WAG THE DOG comparrison comes into play. Also the lack of blood. Though the lack of blood is just where the conspiracy falls apart. How hard do people think it would be to fake that stuff? Hire Tom Savini and you will have yourself enough blood to satisfy any loon. FX have come so far any goof can do a bang up gore effect in there own bedroom if they wanted to. The last thing a faked death lacks is blood, it usually goes over board.

I've watched my share of Horror films, in fact I am a reviewer for numerous Horror sites and magazines, and there is no way I have eny interest in seeing this. I like my stuff fake. Heck, I can't even take Horror films after 1970 for the most part anymore. I will say that when I first saw the pictures of Mr. Berg though, in the jump suit, I did think to myself that this has happened at an awfully convenient time for Bush and the rest of the people trying to skirt the abuse topic. I don't think it is a conspiracy, but this time out, the reasons to buy into one are all over the place, if you let your mind work in those ways.

That's pretty damn funny! Do you think we will ever find a President though that everybody likes?

As a kid my Mom used to take in injured birds all the time. I raised a morning dove once. This was about...20 years ago though.

I'd gladly ride my bike everywhere if it meant getting out of that joint and forgetting the Middle East even existed all together.

Tennesee, thats it. You are probably right about them always being Coors, actually. People just kept telling us they were a micro originally, probably just the story to make it seem cooler. But that would be a shame, as it is a fine brew for being a macro. Yup, I know who Mike Jackson is. The wife and I were at a book store recently and she was looking at wine books, and came across the Jackson stuff. She showed them to me, and I explained to her how Jackson was looked at as a bit of a God amongst the beer folk. She is a beer fan also, and it is a "hobby" of sorts we both take part in. We have a Spring Beer Fest coming up in two weeks as a matter of fact at a local bar. Last year was a heady event to say the least. I have been tempted to order his glass selection, but thanks to a local bar I have been able to stock up on my glasses. I have a Chimay chalice, a Celebrator glass, a Hoegardden glass, a couple of Corsendonk glasses, and a few others that I am forgetting about. Basically one for every type. http://durtynellies.com/pubmenu.html?page=...g_beer_festival Thats the link so you can see what pleasures are to be served. The Oktoberfest version had a better offering, obviously, but it is still a fine selection. I had to avoid the beer for a little while recently. I came down with the flu one night over the winter, but just before I went to the :puke stage of it all I had finished a local micro Porter and after that a Sami Clause. If you are not familiar with the Sami, lets just say it is the last thing you want returning on you!!! The odd thing was that as I was enjoying it that night, I said to my buddy "can you imagine how evil one of these would be to get sick on?"!!! Granted, it was the flu that got me, and not the drinking, but it was the thing that came up, and I was stone cold sober, so that made it all that much worse I think. This was back in the beginning of December, and I am just now being able to go back to the Malt Monsters. Hops are cool with me still though. Yes, Hoegardden is a VERY nice beer. Goes down SUPER easy! Oh, I forgot though, my standard beer, the home base safety beer, is a typical Hacker-Pschorr Weiss. When nothing else sounds good, that always puts a smile on my face. Good luck getting to the Goose Island outing. I need to get to one of those. If you go, keep an eye out for the Demolition Ale. It is only served on special occasions, and in special places. The stuff is friggin' AMAZING!!! If you ever see it anyplace, get in line and enjoy!!! I'd love to go on a beer journey, but I hate air travel, and I am pretty sure I can't drive to Europe. My buddy and boss are planning a real Oktoberfest trip in the next few years. Lucky s.o.b.'s...

Not to make the dreaded comparison, but do you think the White Sox could have ever signed this guy and gotten away with as little controversy as the Cubs did? When they first signed him, there was a fair amount of stink, but it didn't really damage the happy cute image over there. But what do you think the signing would have done to the Sox? Good to see this idiot fail, BTW. Hopefully no other team chooses to pick him up. The numbers that they show there aren't terrible, so I can see somebody in a pinch deciding to give him a whirl. Though the stink of the controversy will probably keep the PR headache away.

FlaSoxxJim, you sound like my type of person to hang with! My buddies and I have converted numerous bars in our area to start carrying better beers. I just got back from the local liquor store (another place we have helped to convert) with a sixer of Grants IPA (though from word of mouth I am not expecting too much) a bomber of Bear Republics Hop Rod Rye, and a slab of Chimay cheese. My buddy grabbed a bunch of Founders stuff such as their IPA, Imperial Stout, and their Dirty Bastard. Blue Moon is good, but not great. There are many others out there that are better, but for it's availability and price, it is a happy day to walk into a bar and see it on offer so that I can steer clear of the regular macro junk. No food in my beer, thank you though. And to the best of my knowledge, Blue Moon started out as a true micro, and then was gobbled up by the Coors beast. I believe it started life in Atlanta, or some place in the south. Supposedly they have a whole line of beers such as a Raspberry Cream Ale, but the only variation we have been able to find has been the Pumpkin Ale. We have even had people scour the country for the stuff, to no avail. My drinks of choice though would be Great Lakes Burning River, La Trappe Quadrupple, St. Bernardus 12, Westvlettern (when the wallet can afford it), Rogue Nutbrown, Spaten Optimator, and the nectar of the God's: CELEBRATOR!!!

Gee, I would love to write down here what I really think should happen over there, but I would rather not get into political idiocy on one of the boards I visit.

I think that everytime I order a diet with my junk food. What happens though is that while dieting, you drink the diet stuff, and your taste buds adjust to it. Now when I go back to reagular pop, it's like drinking liquid cotton candy and it knocks me on my butt!!! I know the silliness in it all, but man, that stuff is soooooooo dang sweet! Plus, you can lose 15 lbs. just by cutting reagular pop and juice out of your diet. That stuff is just vicious.

The heck with those guys! Where is Chris Snopek? He was my wifes favorite. The only player to get brought up who actually played with Jordan! Or so I remember reading. I also saw recently that there was an article on Caruso, where is he now? Did he retire? I think Ichiro copied his style of leaving the box during the swing. Yes, I am kidding. But Caruso did the same thing, just not quite as effective.

You mean there is a use for my TV other than watching Baseball and DVD's? I had no idea there was anything else on it!!! Explain please how this works?

Well, how about the fact that every team that has a home game during this gets $50,000 for it? Oh, except the Yankees and Red Sox get $150,000. Yup, there is the MLB doing a wonderful job to even out the spending and the income.

I heard that Hawk got him booted. I heard it once, and never heard anything more about it. Shame, as I liked the two of them together. DJ is getting better each year and I think he will be great one day, but I also miss Wimpy. I agree that this team reminds me of the fun that was around in 2000, but I feel better about this team. 2000 seemed to be a lucky team only, this team seems to be doing things like they should, and making adjustments where and when they need to. If the long ball isn't working, then they switch to small ball, and vice versa, but always keeping the running game in play. Also they seem to step up the hitting when the pitching isn't where it should be. Just seems like a smart team, aside form some of those crazy base running ideas.
-
It's also not his fault he keeps being handed the ball. It makes sense to keep him up here, but I think he should only be used when we can afford to give up a few runs. But he does seem to be able to REALLY lock it down when he needs to. I also respect the heck out of the fact that the guy has never danced around what is his problem. He doesn't blame anybody else, and I would lay money on it that it a HUGE part of the reason he is not being given up on. He seems like a cool cat and he also shows a passion that not many others do. I like him, but I don't want to watch him, he gives me a queezy feeling on that mound!

Ya know, I was flipping through the channels the other day, and ESPN Classic was replaying the Wood 20 strike-out game. Believe it or not, but the stands were half empty!!! Now I know that Wrigley sells better than US Cell, but I think the Cub fans and everybody else are making a much bigger hooo-haaa of it all then is really deserved and necessary.

Deborah on "Everybody Loves Raymond". humina, humina, humina...

I always tip the guys lugging the stuff through the stands. The people in and on the concorse I usually don't. Do they all get paid the same? I see the people in the concorse as to being much like a worker at McDonalds, and I don't tip them. Am I wrong? Do the people in the concorse get paid the same amount as the people slaving with the stuff on their backs?

Rock on! Thanks for the "BSelig" name! It worked. Seriously, somebody needs to do this for all of these dang sites that require a name and password. Thank you for providing it, if you created it!
