QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Apr 20, 2006 -> 02:33 PM) There you go. Having long given up on making better beer, Miller is going to worry solely about making a better can. My buddy just got back from Arizona today. I watched his cat for him. He brought me a bomber of Stone Arrogant Bastard, a bomber of Stone Pale Ale, and a 12 oz. Stone IPA. I think I made out like a bandit.

QUOTE(MEANS @ Apr 20, 2006 -> 11:02 AM) here's mine: 6th Pickler 5th Paris 4th Elliott 3rd Chris 2nd Taylor 1st Katherine I might say Paris would go before Pickler, as Pickler seems to have more coverage. Plus, I think Taylor will go before Chris. But both of those are up for debate, big time. But I can't argue your guess.

Odd question...anybody have a book of church tunes
Kid Gleason replied to Kid Gleason's topic in SLaM
QUOTE(Soxy @ Apr 18, 2006 -> 09:26 PM) I have two hymnals at home. I can bring them to school tomorrow and either photocopy them to mail to you or something. That would be great!!! -
I'm looking for the chords and all that bunk for the church tune "Hear Us Now God And Father". Is anybody able to supply me with it? I know we have some of you church goin' folks around here. (anybody ever notice that if you say it fast enough it sounds like "Hear us now goddamn father"? My sister-in-law told me the title over the cell phone and I sat there stunned for a few seconds about that being the name for a song at her wedding.)

I just got in, and couldn't find it on the channel's named in the beginning of the thread, but I did find it on 668 on Direct TV. Just for those still looking.

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Apr 17, 2006 -> 06:57 AM) its in the middle of the official white sox mlb page, under sights and sounds. It says "Iguchi's tremendous throw" Ah...there it is...I suck...you rule! Wow...that's a pretty crazy play!
-
O.K., the Iguchi throw is no longer on the page, anybody have it linked someplace? If you go to the video highlights, all you get are homeruns and Pods catching a ball while sliding.

Pre-Easter dinner: Tonight I smoked 3 pork butt roasts, did up some slaw, and made some sweet tea for all the family who came over. I'm a BBQ nut, and I am just falling further and further into the BBQ world. The sweet tea is this weeks addition, and the next time out with also include some collard greens or for desert some sweet potato pie. Yes, all day there was John Mooney, Lightnin' Hopkins, and Ronnie Dawson. If your going BBQ, ya have to also go Delta and Rockabilly. Tomorrow is the standard Easter meal: Ham, cheesy potato's, green bean casserol, and some other stuff, over at the in-laws. I could use the day of rest though, I am wiped after today. Now I'm off to play a little slide guitar. "I was born a poor black child..." keeps going through my mind.

Hell, if it wasn't for the letter "C" and his counterparts "+" and "-" I would have been screwed in school!

If I'm not mistaken, wasn't Scientology created after Harlan Ellison (or Bradbury, somebody else of great respect in the Science Fiction field) dared Hubbard to try and write his own religion, and while doing so he decided he really liked what he was coming up with?

QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ Apr 13, 2006 -> 10:36 AM) I work out, write it out and sometimes tell my hamsters about it. The last one costs me treats though. LOL!!! So, anytime you enter the room a bunch of hamsters look at you like your Mr. Carlin from The Bob Newhart Show??? "Crap, here she comes again. You take care of it Mitzy...I had to deal with her the other day she got all 'weepy', I'm sick of it."

QUOTE(Steff @ Apr 13, 2006 -> 08:31 AM) Exactly. Right after birth the mother gets the child and it stops crying until it's taken away for weight, bath, etc. Unless it's a C-section. My first born was taken for the weight and measures right away, then she was shown to her mother, but then whisked out while they finished the surgery on my wife. I sat with my daughter while I waited for my wife to get back into her room and to be done with surgery. I talked to my baby, and touched her face, but I still made sure that the first person who held our daughter was my wife. The nurses obviously had to hold her for reasons though. She was happy just being wrapped up like a burrito though. Scientology is just friggin' wacky.

Yeah, punching and kicking s*** always used to work for me. I also like heading to my basement, throwing the guitar on, and turning up REAL loud.

Yeah, but it's a bit of a pissed. Bucky actually grew on me over time. He seems pretty damned honest, and I feel sorry for him for having his "dumb hick" thing stolen by Kellie. But Bucky seems like a decent guy, and I kind of like his voice. Plus, out of all the guys, I think he might end up being the best one to watch live. Chris will be a "strike a tough guy pose" (and he always looks dumb at the end of songs). But Bucky just gets into a cool vibe and moves pretty damn good at times. Next week would have been almost as painful from me if they went from all of Rod's past, but since they are just doing the abysmal "Song book" crap, I will be able to tolerate it. But if they dipped into his GOOD period (Beck Group, Faces, first 5 Mercury albums), then I would probably throw myself off a building. Expect Taylor and Elliot to own the show next week.

You know, I never had a problem with Farmer, he was decent with Rooney. But now his weaknesses are really showing up. Good lord, he really is as bad as many have said. I am sitting here listening today, and what a friggin' sourpuss the guy is about everything. He seems to dislike everything about everybody on the field. He sounds like a cranky old man. The shinning spot is turning out to be Singleton, and even better yet, Singleton's willingness to call Farmer out on his mistakes and his crankiness. If there was some way of getting rid of Farmer next year and keeping Singleton, I would say they should do it. Has anybody else also caught him on his flip-flopping on calling what the managers should do? The other day he said that BMac should stay in the game. Next inning rolls in and Jenks comes out and Farmer says that it is really the only smart move to make.

I can't watch South Park. As bad as it might sound, I hate the artwork and I REALLY hate Cartman. I thought this whole South Park vs. Family Guy thing was being done in jest by both parties.

QUOTE(Soxy @ Apr 12, 2006 -> 06:09 AM) I agree with pretty much everything people have been saying. Although between Pickler (what's on paper?) and Paris' outfits I was kind of wondering if it was dominatrix night. And was it just me or did Pickler look a little Stevie Nixed out? Hearing the pretty awful covers really made me appreciate the real Queen a lot more. I think the best performance of the night was Taylor and the worst was probably Ace. Most of them were dull. Bottom 3: Ace, Bucky and Chris (I think his one trick pony of nu-metal, which I am soooo over is wearing thin). I think Ace will go home. My wife thought of Nicks also, but Stevie never dressed like that. I thought she looked and at times sounded like Bonnie Tyler. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Apr 12, 2006 -> 06:17 AM) Is it me, or do the people this year just suck compared to last year? I don't like any of them. And I'm not really watching this year beause of it. I like Taylor, but I love that style of voice. I would be interested to hear what he eventually puts out. He's the only one though. But the rest, yeah, typical, standard, been done to death are the phrases that come to mind.
-
Watched it. My wife wanted to see it. Ace needs to go. Seriously. When Warrant does a better job of "We Will Rock You", it's time to go home and hide. Bucky actually did O.K. Paula and everybody praising him for finding his voice in it. Idiots, it's basically a country backed song. Duh, what other choice was there for the guy? Chris...ugh. Simon is wrong, it's a great song, but a crappy performance. Taylor...eh...O.K....you can do "Crazy Little Thing"...so can 50,000,000 other people, and exactly like that. Elliot. I just don't see the stroke off for the guy. He can sing, but why is everybody convinced he is so good? Am I the only one who thinks he does not have an amazing voice? Paris. I agree with my wife, if I didn't have to look at her or ever hear her talk I would like her more. Decent version. Katharine. Good voice, ugly clothes. Could have been better, could have been much worse. Kellie. Started good, but once the painful kick in started (talk about a shock to the ears), her voice went to crap and was flat more times that not. In the end, it was what I expected. Freddie had such a power on those songs that I could not get his voice out of my head. I kept hearing it, and it caused everybody to sound like s*** to me. Anybody else still get teary eyed and choak up when they see footage of Freddie? I still to this day can't believe he is gone. Only a couple other people do that to me.
-
Wow, what idiots the judges are. Ummmm, the reason Queen never did "Innuendo" live had something to do with maybe Freddie being deathly ill when they recorded it, and never toured for that reason. Ummm, "Innuendo" came out in 1991, Freddie died in 1991. Idiots. It had nothing to do with them not feeling able to do it. THE GREATEST VOICE IN THE WORLD AT THE TIME WAS FRIGGIN' DYING!!! Paula, you suck.
-
So should I watch my tape or decide after seeing the results show? Can I get a "nice guess" on the Bucky doing "Fat Bottom"??? Please? I am surprised to see Chris went with "Innuendo"...kind of. I think only because I would naturally assume people to forget about the ending period of Queen. Interesting to think that quite possibly even in the grip of AIDS, and dying a painful death, Mr. Mercury probably still out-sang these people. Did Simon make any comments about Freddie? In the past he has kind of scolded people for attempting Queen material, telling them Freddie was one of the greatest ever and that you really had to be on the top of your game. How about Brian and Roger, how were their "interview" bits? Are they performing tomorrow night with Paul?

Any Fast Times At Ridgemount High fans? I laugh everytime I see it and the kid is b****ing about the scalp prices for the upcoming Van Halen show. What were they? Was it $20?
