  1. QUOTE(The Critic @ May 9, 2006 -> 08:25 AM) Wouldn't know, never saw the movie. I got the soundtrack for Jeff Healey's version of When The Night Comes Falling From The Sky, which I think is great. Of course, I got the goddamned thing on cassette, which means I'll never listen to it again, but it's still a great song. Terrible movie with some nice fights. Sam Elliot mutters the line. He's likable in the movie, but that and the fights are all that are even close to being decent. Well, it does have the hysterical line "I used to f*** guys like you in prison" though, so that is worth it also.
  2. QUOTE(The Critic @ May 8, 2006 -> 10:30 AM) Wow, a Warren Zevon reference.....nice.....but was it intentional? I thought it was a Roadhouse reference.
  3. I just hate his melodrama. The worst actor since Keanu Reeves.
  4. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 8, 2006 -> 07:48 AM) RIAA is exactly why I won't buy CDs. There are better things I can do with my money, besides, there ain't much worth buying anymore anyways. There is a ton of great stuff out there to buy. Just none of it is on major labels, and none of it is on the radio/MTV/VH1 or any other cabel video station.
  5. I missed it when it happened, but I was watching the press conference after the game. It was a monster shot. I also found it funny that Bonds was saying that the hecklers were responsible for their actions in front of their kids. I wonder if Bonds realizes he is considered a jerk by many, many, many people and that his kid might hear that someday.
  6. I've never seen Blaine do this trick, but hasn't anybody ever wondered why there was a box or something in front of these guys? Or hasn't anybody ever walked to the front of them to see a foot/leg protruding from their pants? Seriously, is this trick THAT easy to do and to fool people with?
  7. They look like somebody put a sting ray on their heads.
  8. I think Taylor is the only Idol I would actually buy a CD of.
  9. QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ May 5, 2006 -> 11:40 PM) On the flip side, I am not too old to be able to enjoy newer (remember its relative) bands. I went to a festival tonight with Gin Blossoms, Cowboy Mouth, Sister Hazel and Blues Traveler. Tomorrow will see Better than Ezra, POD (eh) and Live. Not new bands, but newer than Styx anyway... Hell man, how is Cowboy Mouth??? Dumbest name in the world, but I have always heard such great things about them, and their live shows look friggin' amazing! Are you familiar with them before seeing them live recently?
  10. QUOTE(The Critic @ May 5, 2006 -> 11:53 AM) I think I'm gonna celebrate with a pizza and a Hacker-Pschorr. What can I say, I'm a traditionalist.... Actually, as it turns out I will be almost doing that. But it will be bowling with a pizza and a PBR (my standard bowling alley beer).
  11. So what will eventually happen with this fin? Will it eventually fall over, or will this be a new way to get to the moon soon?
  12. QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ May 4, 2006 -> 10:09 PM) Old enough to remember the original well. I enjoyed the performance pure and simple. That's cool. It's just that you made the comment about your age and I was not catching what you were saying. I didn't know if you were saying you are young, so Chris is your thing, or you are old...and whatever. I'm of the old variety.
  13. Ugh, I don't think Jake would be very good.
  14. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ May 2, 2006 -> 05:51 PM) With comic books, all a director has to do is follow a different timeline or make one up of his own. This isnt the last X-men movie, only the last one in this series. The next spiderman movie will be the last with the current cast, but it wont be the last. Hopefully the comic book companies will demand quality instead of quantity though, because it would be very easy to just start mass-producing these things like nobodies business. So far, I have really liked Batman, Spiderman, and the X-men movies. Superman looks like it was pretty well done too. Hopefully some of his crazier enemies start showing up in forthcoming movies, superman has fought some good ones. /nerd rant. Where did you hear that about the Spidey films? I've heard nothing of the sort, and have actually heard that Tobey and gang are still signed on after this one, especially with the possible introduction of Venom, they would be insane to kill this cast off now.
  15. QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ May 2, 2006 -> 07:49 PM) I thought it was pretty solid myself. I also liked Taylor's 1st song. Maybe it's my age, but I was entertained by both. How old are you Rex? The original "Renegade" had a much more "intense" and energy filled vocal performance. There was no attitude at all from Chris.
  16. I would just like to say that Chris's version of "Renegade" was friggin' terrible. The guy completely missed all the things that make the original version a great song. No scream in the beginning, no killer vocal work like Tommy Shaw did originally. Yes, they are supposed to make it their own, but when you do that by sacrificing what made the original great, then you just turn it to sucking. Lowsy, lowsy, lowsy version. No heart, no energy at all.
  17. I went and saw Kevin K. last night. Friggin' great show, though only 6 songs were played. The man is an icon to many of us. Plus he is a great guy.
  18. QUOTE(The Critic @ Apr 29, 2006 -> 07:42 AM) Nirvana ( and I liked them A LOT ) get too much credit for the death of "hair metal". The thing is, hair metal was killed by the recording industry, the same way the industry kills every other musical trend. By signing every single hair band out there, no matter how terrible, they oversaturated the market and made everyone sick of the genre. (Let the record show, however, that I personally was never a fan of the "lighter" metal. While others were going to Bon Jovi and Poison shows, I was seeing Testament, Metallica and bands of that ilk.) Nirvana just happened to have the first really catchy song of the next trend. When Nevermind first came out, every metal and punk fan that I knew had the album and loved it. It's only in hindsight that this hatred gets put on Cobain by metalheads. and I must repeat, big hair or not, GnR was NOT a hair-metal band. Not in any way, shape or form. You rule. Plain and simple. The best of the standard Hairband type of thing, the Poison thing, was easily Tigertailz. http://www.tigertailz.co.uk/
  19. I rarely use one in public, so I sure wouldn't install one in my house.
  20. QUOTE(The Critic @ Apr 28, 2006 -> 11:26 AM) Another chance to break out the old spandex??? I know that would be Kid's reason..... :finger I never wore "spandex". I wore some stretch jeans (still have them actually), but they just looked like black jeans. Hell, those are still worn by many, and I would still wear them if I wasn't forced to change my looks...thanks balding head. Damn, you're a pain in the ass today.
  21. QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Apr 28, 2006 -> 07:32 AM) Nuke, I would have to go with Ratt. As much as I was into the harder stuff, I still enjoyed some of the hair and makeup bands. And Ratt was the best of those, for me. Plus they had lots of hot chicks on their record albums. The first EP and Out Of The Cellar are great albums. Invasion Of Your Privacy had a great cover, and that was it. They had their songs here and there after OOTC, but that was it.
  22. QUOTE(Texsox @ Apr 27, 2006 -> 11:04 PM) Van Halen?! f*** them, he stole Valerie Bertinelli from me, the bastard I'm right there with ya man. BUT, she is back on the market. If I was single, I'd be heading to LA right now.
  23. QUOTE(mreye @ Apr 28, 2006 -> 06:59 AM) Bon Jovi and "80s hair band"?? They continue to go strong playing full arenas on their own and just sold out Soldier Field. They don't belong in this group. They may have survived, but make no doubt about it that they were at the forefront of the stuff. They transended it, but they were there.
