  1. QUOTE(Capn12 @ May 15, 2006 -> 11:39 PM) All a matter of opinion I guess. After hearing it, I'm still a much bigger fan of Cornell's crooning. His slower, more voal driven stuff a la Euphoria Morning showed me alot about him. As long as there ARE some true 'singers' in the industry, we can all be content! Don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking Cornell at all. I can't stand Audioslave, and lost interest in Soundgarden after Louder Than Love, but the guy has an amazing voice. I was just saying that there are many, many, many people out there that still do sing, and without studio trickery. If this thread has shown us anything, it's that there are millions of bands out there we all have yet to be exposed to.
  2. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ May 15, 2006 -> 10:22 PM) The little bit of COC I've heard didn't make me want to listen to any more, so I must not have been impressed with the vocals. There are a lot of good vocalists and guys that can scream in a decent pitch, but true good singers are hard to come by, which is too bad. If you heard early COC, it's understandable why you would move on. But Pepper does have one of the most impressive "singing" voices. He's not a screamer most of the time. Check out their My Space page for some song samples: http://www.myspace.com/corrosionconformity

If she's dressed like that in the OR, then all is forgiven. If she's in scrubs, you're back to being s*** out of luck. I guess you and Dr. McDreamy can hang out though.

If it makes you feel any better, my wife has DVR'd last night and tonight and plans to sit down at 10 to watch all of it in one fell-swoop. She's quite thrilled about it. Of course this does nothing to prove your masculinity...sorry.
  5. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ May 15, 2006 -> 08:12 PM) Hell yeah, good stuff, but I really like Cornell's voice. One of the few true singers left in rock music. In "popular"/"radio played" Rock music. There are thousands out there (Pepper Keenan from Corrosion Of Conformity sings circles around Cornell for example), it's just a matter of finding them.
  6. QUOTE(The Critic @ May 15, 2006 -> 11:53 AM) Well, OJ obviously believes that the real killer loves to golf. It's a pretty solid theory, actually, since I also believe Nicole and Ron's real killer loves to golf. You think it was Tiger Woods also?
  7. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 15, 2006 -> 09:17 AM) Yeah, you would think ego or something like that would really make it difficult for the sum of the parts to add up to the whole, but they did it. Incredible stuff. What probably worked was the fact that the only member I ever heard of in that group that suffered from a rotten ego was Jeff Lynne. But when faced with who he was playing alongside, any ego would be quited I would think. I mean, there you stand next to Roy and George, how can you possibly have an ego with those two in the same studio???
  8. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 15, 2006 -> 08:04 AM) Of all things, I broke out the Traveling Wilburies this week, and remembered how awesome they were. Defiantely brought the term "superband" to mind. One of the few "Supergroups" to also live up to the hype of the people involved.
  9. QUOTE(bmags @ May 15, 2006 -> 01:57 AM) don't be silly, sirs. Not being silly. I think Radiohead sucks eggs. Can't stand 'em.
  10. QUOTE(bmags @ May 14, 2006 -> 10:33 PM) considering OK Computer and their completion of the most successful merger of electronic and pop with Kid A i don't think its mind boggling at all.How many good radiohead covers do you hear? i'm stirring the pot for jimH I'm still waiting to hear a good original tune.
  11. Yeah, I wasn't a listener when it first came out, after all I was only 7. But when I first heard it (probably around'83 or '84) I was blown away by it. But even then, once I heard The Dead Boys the Pistols started to fade away. It's still a great disc, and a must have for anybody who enjoys "in your face Rock and Roll", just not as "oooooo" as when I first heard it. I have a buddy who refuses to give it a fair chance, even though he loves stuff like Backyards, Hellacopters, Gluecifer, etc. It just baffles my mind.
  12. Call me crazy, but I am pretty sure that the reason we remember Nicole has more to do with the fact that her head was severed more than likely by OJ friggin' Simpson, one of the nations most beloved athletes, and he also killed her boyfriend, and then it turned into one of the biggest media circus's ever, due to the wacky stuff like the Bronco chase and Cochran. I don't think it has anything to do with racist America. But thanks for the sentiment and bringing it all back to the race card.
  13. I've been reading Nina Antonia's In Cold Blood: The Official Johnny Thunders Biography. I've been a fan of Johnny's for over 20 years now, and (obviously) always knew about his slight problem with junk, but how exactly how far gone he was is amazing. The man made Keith Richards look like a friggin' saint. So obviously I've been on a big NY Dolls/Heartbreakers/Gang War/JT solo kick. It still amazes me how hot and cold his playing always ran. But the book is truely heartbreaking if the man served as any form of inspiration to you. Without him, I can honestly say, I would never have turned into what I did way back in '84. Right now I am listening to probably the biggest of the original Thunders rip-off artists: The Sex Pistols. Still a good CD, but amazing how it has tamed over the years. Once it was all aggression, now it's just some cool riffs with some nice lyrics.
  14. Has anybody else heard this thing? The jist of the commercial is explaining why Cub fans stick around for the whole game! It basically sounds like an explanation of why the fans keep watching crappy baseball. Is this a real commercial, or is it an ESPN joke that got mistakenly slipped in?
  15. QUOTE(The Critic @ May 12, 2006 -> 07:21 AM) (and YEAH, YEAH, I listen to GN's overnight show a little.....it's hard to listen to David Stein on SCR or Jason Smith on MVP for very long, so I do a lot of channel-flipping on the train.) They do make CD's and other things so that you can bring your music with you and you don't have to listen to the radio. Just letting you in on a secret.
  16. QUOTE(The Critic @ May 11, 2006 -> 06:36 PM) For what it's worth, Chris is going to become the new singer for Fuel. They've struck a deal to buy out Chris' AI contract so he can record the new disc and then tour. There's some debate whether AI will allow this to happen until the summer tour ends. I like Fuel a lot, but I've never heard this guy sing. I hope he fits Fuel's sound. He does.
  17. On Mac, Jurko and the harry ones' show yesterday Rex was giving tons or respect to the Sox. He couldn't say enough good things about the Sox.
  18. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 10, 2006 -> 08:35 PM) Nope, there is nothing about Idol I hate more than Paula Abdul. I was sort of surprised to see Chris go home, as Kat really deserved it, but all in all I am glad Chris did not win. I feel the exact same way. On a one night performance, Kat was the one that should have gone. But overall, she is easily the one who should win it all.
  19. If they are all in HD, then it is the crappiest HD signal I have seen yet. I just got hooked up yesterday, and last nights game and tonights both look like a standard signal, even though they say "HD".
  20. QUOTE(Felix @ May 10, 2006 -> 02:04 PM) I really hate iPods, but I'm the minority probably. I'm much more of a Creative Zen person. I've had a few of the HDD ones (although I end up breaking them by dropping the bag they were in, which really gets frustrating after awhile), but I finally went to a flash player for ease. I currently have this one (512 mb): Fill in, why do you hate iPods?
  21. I actually think he might sell more than Clay Aiken ended up doing.
  22. QUOTE(aboz56 @ May 10, 2006 -> 10:09 AM) I really can't see what people see in Taylor. Simon is right, he is like a karaoke performer. The guy's dancing is ridiculous and out of the 4 left, he has the least impressive voice. I guess it goes to show that dancing around like an idiot can help you advance. If he wins I think thats pretty embarassing. I can't stand the douche. He has a hell of a good "Soul" style voice, as he proved with the second song. I would love to hear he and Rod Stewart together. He does Sam Cooke quite well, which is no easy feat as Cooke is one of the greatest voices to ever have lived. He does have talent, just not with dancing. I thought Chris's version of "Conversation" was one of the most boring performances ever. No emotion at all in the beginning. Even though the original was a little mellow in the beginning, Elvis still had the charm and presence to get the point across. Chris just looked and sounded bored. I do agree though that Kat will probably be going home, which is a shame as she is more talented than Chris.
  23. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ May 9, 2006 -> 10:41 AM) Axl is a nut job. I wonder why he'd want to revive his career. He should still have enough money and he hated the fame, freaked out and became a hermit....and his voice is shot Slash can play with anyone he wants and Izzy always seemed content with laying low and out of the spotlight....and his record with the Ju Ju Hounds record was decent. Izzy has actually had about 4 albums since that first Ju Ju release, all of them better than that one. He stepped out of the limelight, but never stopped playing and recording, until the past 2 years or so.
  24. Well, actually, Slash and Izzy are cool with each other, but they both hate Axl. The whole band actually only disliked Axl. But that's not to say that somebody can't change. Maybe Axl has finally come around a bit? Izzy left 100% because of Axl.
  25. I don't get why people would buy the Nano's when the 60GB is just a little bit more expensive. Some of those Nano's run around $250, so for $150 more you get 56GB more. Seems rather silly to buy anything less than the 60GB to me. But hey, I guess ya buy what ya can.
