Is “The 78” Dead? Or even more alive? Fire announce plans for SSS

If they ever build a retro style park in the footprint of Old Comiskey, the immediate reaction of pretty much everyone will be “retro parks are dead. The White Sox goof it up once again. Why did they abandon a perfectly good and serviceable park across the street for this outdated white elephant?” -
OK.
-
NOT my point.
-
Exactly my point. The next time a sports radio guy Cubbie fan gushes about the 2016 Cubs, call in and tell him that the 2005 Sox’ 11-1 run and World Series sweep was more “impressive.” See what happens.
-
Let us not forget that after he threw his perfect game, Dave Bleephead immediately said that Kerry Wood’s 20 strikeout game was more “impressive.” Media idiots like Dan Bernstein glommed onto it and we were treated to “discussions” of what feat was more “impressive.” The enraging part for me is imagining if a Cub pitcher threw a perfect game and a Sox fan told a radio host that something a Sox pitcher did was more “impressive.” He would be dismissed as a jealous lowlife and laughed off the air.

No, he wouldn’t

1994 was an incomplete season.
-
Not true. Cubs outdrew the Sox in 1993, even though the Sox won their division.
-
Lovable Comiskey? No, it wasn’t. It was never accorded the reverence given to Wrigley, Fenway and Tiger Stadium. A 1990 Sporting News article trashed it and quoted players who hated the place.
-
Are you kidding? There are fans still mad at Al Lopez for not starting Billy Pierce in the 1959 World Series. And Bill Veeck for his trades in 1960.

I think the outrage stems over the fact that people are automatically assuming that he taunted Marte over his mother being dead. Turns out it was just a standard issue “your mother’s a…” crack that players hear all the time. It affected him because his mom is dead, which 100% understandable. What bothers me now are the usual moral outragers, the ones glomming onto it to torture the guy and put him through hell. It’s uncalled for and, as one person already said, unacceptable. He opened his mouth and said the wrong thing to the wrong person. His banning is enough, hopefully he learned his lesson. He doesn’t need an internet lynch mob coming after to him to revel in their moral superiority.

My sister gets upset and honks at people. I have told her the same thing you tell your wife.

I don’t get why you’re asking me.

At least your little pun impresses you.

And so blinded by hatred that they’re happy their team has the all-time loss record just to stick to the owner. And are disappointed that that record might fall this year. Pathetic.

The players were responsible for 1919.

Sox looking at building in South Loop

There's a concept. -
No, the Jordan three-peats don’t count because Reinsdorf broke them up. I mean, Jordan was retiring and they don’t win without him, but if Reinsdorf hadn’t broken them up, they would of kept winning and winning and winning forever and never got old. So throw out the six titles, I’m mad about all the titles they should of won.

He wrote an op-ed for the Tribune saying this very thing in 1999. But I’ll give him a little credit. He’s consistent, unlike his self-styled “arch-nemesis” who obsesses over him on social media. For years he yelled about Lindberg’s mantra “where are they going to go? There’s no place left!” Now the same guy is gleefully taunting “fanboys” over the move as if it’s already a done deal.
