  1. Vaughn is terrible and a complete waste of a top 5 pick. Getting Vaughn and Madrigal out of the tank years was a massive L. How is Abrams doing for the Nats?
  2. Liam is the most likeable guy on the team, but it's easy to forget about him because he's been sick and injured for all but a few weeks this year.
  3. Yoan is either completely lost at the plate or is too injured to play.
  4. Eloy is doing everything but avoiding nagging injuries and hitting HRs this year. If some team thinks they can tap into his raw power I'd trade him.
  5. Yeah I was talking about Erick Hernandez.
  6. I really thought he figured it out in 2019. I'd be thrilled if the 2021 version showed up again. Not holding my breath though.
  7. Are Reyes and Hernandez making strides in the DSL? Last I saw both their numbers were........yikes.
  8. Rocky brought hockey back to Chicago, but his role in the Beach scandal can't(and shouldn't) be ignored. It's a complex legacy that is up to each individual to define for themselves as a Hawks fan.
  9. I have a feeling they're going to give it rest, and see if he comes to ST able to do something but I expect him to get surgery in May 2024 and his Sox career will end quietly.
  10. I was going to say the same thing about Yoan as Kopech, idk if it was covid or just someone that peaked physically very young. I remember how the ball used to just explode off his bat. I'm not sure if there's anything the Sox could have done because I'm not convinced those guys were s%*# scouting, i just think their bodies weren't made for 162 games of baseball once they got into their mid-20s and there's no way to know that. This applies to Eloy too.
  11. Yeah idk what happened there this year. His BB% has just cratered in 2023.
  12. It's so sad what has happened to Kopech. He's a shell of the guy that was a top 20 prospect in baseball. s%*# happens to pitchers, though. The Sox sure haven't helped him. Could probably say the same about Crochet too, but he was never a top prospect.
  13. This outcome is entirely predictable. I hope Harold is right that it is Kenny working the phones, and Rick gets an office for the rest of the season before getting whacked.
  14. I don't think anyone disagrees but I'd be shocked if they trade Cease before the end of next season.
  15. I actually don't think the owners want a cap and floor either, because that means they have to open up the books. But yes, for everyone except the superstars a cap and floor system is better for them than the current system.
  16. 1. Based on what has been reported, they're probably not trading Cease or Robert until they're 1 year rentals at best. Maybe they might consider it as a 1.5 year rental. 2. I'm expecting an approach similar to 2014-16 going forward until ownership changes. 3. The reason I'm saying rebuild isn't an option is because of Jerry moreso than overall strategy. Yes the draft changes suck going forward but they could try to buy prospects by picking up short term deals in FA and if they're having a good year, sell high. I think they're gonna sell by 8/1/23 because it's clearly over, but I really doubt they're going to listen on anyone that isn't a pure rental. Where it gets interesting is when Eloy's team options come. I was excited about the trades they made in 2016-17 but very skeptical about Madrigal and Vaughn. I kept an open mind though. The majority of what could go wrong, did. And here we are.
  17. Idk how palatable it will be to Jerry to sign FA with the explicit goal of buying prospects with them. There are already rumors that Jerry's takeaway is that rebuilds don't work rather than the FO being putrid at their jobs
  18. It's because they either can't pick top 6 or top 10(not sure) in consecutive seasons.
  19. This. I thought it was just that large market teams couldn't pick top 6 in consecutive years but if it's top 10 it's even worse. This is why tanking isn't a real option.
  20. Yeah and they can't even pick top 6 in consecutive years, which would functionally mean they're unable to pick top 10. They're going to have to draft, internationally sign and develop their way out of this and there's not a lot of hope on that front. Even though Montgomery and Schultz look really promising, Hernandez and Reyes (top international signings) look like a disaster. They also really did a 180 in the draft department, which makes no sense after seeing the early success of Montgomery/Schultz.
  21. Obviously cleaning house in the FO should be the first priority, but how should they move forward from here? I'm at a loss.
  22. I wasn't saying that he was keeping them competitive, but rather keeping a few guys going so that the team wasn't a complete disaster.
