2025 Rule 5 Thread
Yeah I think he’ll be back. We didn’t protect Mason right? That guy should’ve been picked. Him and Murphy could turn in potentially above average seasons in mlb. Adams especially since he’s still on the IL I believe.

2025 Rule 5 Thread
Hate that we didn’t protect Pallette. Pleased he was the only guy taken though, he wouldn’t have been my first choice of the guys we didn’t protect. I know nothing about the two guys we selected but there is now an “Alexander Alberto” and “Alexander Albertus” in the system. Griff McGarry is the guy I liked and the Nats took him right after us.

Kyle Schwarber back to Phillies 5 years/150 mil
Yeah I would've liked watching him next year and I bet he'd win us some games, it's just a lot of money and I can't see him getting any better or even propelling the team to the playoffs. I think it makes sense for Philly, for other teams it feels like the Benintendi special. Tucker is the only high-priced American hitter I'd want out of this free agent class and that's unfortunately not gonna happen. Okamoto is the guy I'd really want the Sox to make a run for. I think the class next year looks better and we have another year of seeing who's actually useful and who needs to be replaced.

Kyle Schwarber back to Phillies 5 years/150 mil
Why did any Sox fan even want Schwarber? He's a nice player, but he's 32-years-old and can't play a position. Certainly doesn't fit within the timeline of a team that is just starting to tread out of its rebuild. I'm glad he's sticking in Philly. They really like him there. Some of my Philly friends compare him to Ryan Howard, not just in their power/eye kinda game, but their impact off the field. Schwarber is a fan favorite and the city likes him, he was obviously gonna stay there. He wasn't getting that sort of love on the north side.

White Sox win draft lottery, will pick #1 in 2026
I think Emerson could be the pick but I really prefer a college guy if Roch can play like he did last season. Bonus points: another MLB player from my high school and the best prospect it's produced since Terrell Suggs (or 4th rounder Bellinger if you prefer).

BA 2026 Top Ten White Sox Prospects
I think everyone in the top 10 will be a real impact MLB player. Cool that they put some respeck on Bonemer's name, that guy is so good. Hagen vs Carlson is interesting. Is that due to Hagen's strong AFL performance/end of season or are they docking Billy a little bit? I think Oppor and Antonacci could both rise up the ranks. Oppor seems like a surefire top 100 prospect, I almost like him better than our other lefty prospects, but I think Antonacci could be there too. OBP machine, I think he has a little more power in his game than he's shown. Not like 20+ homers, but maybe he could hit 10 next season and 30ish doubles.

very solid draft at the top. good news! the college SS is the highest rated by FV in years.

Quero Being Shopped
Jasson Dominguez or Spencer Jones or I’m not interested. Hopeful the Yankees land Tucker and/or Bellinger for this reason.

Chicago White Sox's Offseason FA Signings Trades Megathread
his value is going to increase. why would you trade him after a 5 ERA season when he's clearly much better than that? what's the rush?

White Sox acquire LHP Chris Murphy from BOS
Calling Ronny a prospect is a stretch. Was worse in 2025 than 2024 at A level, his power evaporates year by year and he’s ok behind the plate but can’t throw anybody out. If he ever reaches mlb, he’s likely a 1b without any power. I’d be surprised if he ever gets past AA frankly. If you’re the Red Sox, I guess it’s better than DFAing a guy for nothing but the dude is the epitome of a lotto ticket.

White Sox sign Anthony Kay to 2Y/12M deal
Presumably not which is precisely why he should throw a slower fastball with movement. His four-seam is a fuckin meatball.

Manfred legacy...
Hate the rule changes but I think it’s fair to say baseball has experienced a resurgence under him. Whether or not he has anything to do with it, I’m not sure, but I have the feeling the MLB will inevitably usurp the NBA in popularity.

White Sox sign Anthony Kay to 2Y/12M deal
if the White Sox have a favorite aisle at the Dollar General -- it's Guys Who are Willing to Try Another Fastball. Smith and Gómez were able to reinvent themselves in the second half by adding a two-seamer, while Cannon and Burke are hoping to iterate on late-season revelations with theirs. New pitching coach Zach Bove also referenced the Royals having recent success by expanding arsenals and introducing more fastball shapes, with Kris Bubic making more use of a sinker and rookie Noah Cameron throwing more cutters serving as examples Great, somebody tell this to Thorpe.

Sox winter meetings preview...
Keeps the spot warm for Ely Brown. Robert might return an actual player.

Sox winter meetings preview...
I’m more interested in the idea of a Robert trade since Jake “we have Rickey Henderson at home” Meyers is apparently available for a controllable pitcher. I don’t think the Sox are in the market for a late inning reliever. Leasure and Taylor are fine.

White Sox tender Derek Hill, non-tender Cam Booser, Tim Elko, & Mike Tauchman
But what about the network side of things? I think ESPN's deal is valued at $550mil a year, that's a lot of money to give up for an impending lockout. Of course, perhaps the networks don't pay MLB if no games are played, I don't know how all of that works. Still, doing a short term deal that is long enough to extend beyond the current CBA leads me to think the owners do not want to risk a lockout. I don't think it's to due with labor relations but rather alienating the biggest cashcow they have.

Teams have asked about Teel
I think a more realistic option, depending how FA shakes out, is Quero for Jasson Dominguez. Wells is an OK catcher but they have no depth there and Quero will almost certainly be the better hitter. Also no depth behind oft-injured Stanton at DH. If the Yankees land Tucker or keep Bellinger, Dominguez (and/or Spencer Jones) have no where to play. Quero may end up the better player, but I’d rather have a guy who plays every day at a position of weakness. Lee is a fine backup.
