The comp pick is interesting, I don't know the ins and outs of the bonus pool and what this could mean draft wise for them.

Clearly they are identifing a guy they want at 34 badly. Woods is 24, has very good stuff... when he controls it.

Hate that Gonzo had to be dealt though as someone who is of (half) Mexican descent. Sucks.

I don't think it's just that. Having another pick and having more bonus pool flexibility is huge in general. While I imagine Thome is a part of the plan, he was always going to be a part of the plan regardless if they added a pick or not. It's just more talent that can be infused into the farm.
