1 hour ago1 hr This may also be the first of many moves to ease the upcoming 40 man roster crunch. They are currently at 39 with 8 guys on the 6o-day IL. I think it's likely that Mason Adams eventually gets added as well. So, even though I'm a little sad about this, it's not insane.

On the other hand, we are the White Sox.I'm hoping maybe they didn't like his underlying metrics or something cause this is poor value. If u really want to move him or if you are planning to extend Murakami and hes blocked get a SP for him at the deadline rather than the pick.I will be absolutely shocked if they extend Mune....he bet on himself and won and he will go to free agency.I also hope I'm wrong.
1 hour ago1 hr This is a sign Getz is playing the long game and wants to build this farm up to be a powerhouse and build a sustainable MLB pipeline. Gonzo has nowhere to play so why not deal him for a stud college starting pitcher close to MLB-ready? Could be an overpay but we can’t see their draft board. That said, if Getz considered Gonzo trade bait and used him to snag a comp pick rather than improving the 2026 roster, I expect the deadline to be fairly quiet for the Sox. You don’t trade a top trade chip away for a comp pick if you plan on pushing in some major chips on this season.
1 hour ago1 hr I like this trade. Important draft and the budget is part of it. If NIL is reducing value of comp pick, the value is we have more money to outbid NiL.Great move. Should allow us to trade for some pitchers.

Don't get this at all. Gonzales can play and the Sox could have used him in the infield.Guess it all depends on what the comp pick brings.
1 hour ago1 hr I also appreciate that the Sox did this trade with a future focus rather than eating all the risk by taking on an expiring contract or some such.
1 hour ago1 hr There was a report in late June that the Pirates were open to moving their CBR-A selection as well as players in their minor league system. They’ve now done both in one deal. Gonzalez debuted this season with the White Sox. He provided near league-average production while playing mostly first base, but was bumped off the roster when Munetaka Murakami returned Friday. Eisert has been a regular in Chicago’s bullpen since last season. He’s scuffled to a 5.93 ERA in 2026.mlbtraderumors.com
1 hour ago1 hr If this were pre 2026, everyone on the board would have loved this, but let the guy have a modicum of success in the bandbox at AAA, and all of a sudden, this is a 'gigantic loss'.

It's clear Getz likes plenty of guys who were here before he took over. But it's also true that Getz isn't going to care (nor should he) that a few years ago the Sox took Gonzo in the first round. And it's part of his job to figure out which players are worth hanging onto and which ones aren't. Seems that he isn't all in on Gonzo. Gonzo isn't exactly Lenyn Sosa in this regard, but he's also not a plus swing decisions guy and to me that is something that Getz cares about a ton. I also have a gut feeling the Sox org doesn't think he plays very good defense anywhere on the diamond. Puts a lot of pressure on a bat that couldn't crack a .700 OPS anywhere in the minors until this season.
1 hour ago1 hr 5 minutes ago, fathom said:So why do some feels this guarantees Roch?Yeah I don’t get that at all. I don’t know it’s a signal of anything except they like this draft.
1 hour ago1 hr So essentially we traded Jacob Gonzalez for a comp pick, as the two crappy relievers canceled each other out, right? Am I missing something?
1 hour ago1 hr What an absolute dogshit and low IQ trade. What are the chances the comp pick even reaches the majors? Gonzalez is a lefty SS with good power potential. He just turned in up the last couple weeks. .934 OPS in his last 11 games. Getz is a dumb f***.
