Schoenny agrees to terms
He would gave gotten $2.0-2.4M in arbitration, so even if he meets all bonuses we still save a few bucks.

Erstad
Trading PK for Erstad dose nothing money wise. Erstad 2004: $7.5M 2005: $8.0M 2006: $8.5M I'd rather keep PK.

Latest news from Otis
Boston won't take PK, we'd have to trade PK to another team and take on Damon's salary. My point being if we can get rid of PK's salary, there's better options than taking on Damon's $7.5M.

Latest news from Otis
He'll do much worse, but for $7.5M you can get much more than what Damon offers.

.345 OBP in 2003 .356 OBP in 2002 .324 OBP in 2001 .347 OBP in his career Maybe its just me, but don't you need to get on base to be a lead off guy?

Aubrey Huff
Still no pitching and they will NEVER be able to win more game than the Yankees or Red Sox's.
-
Good News for the Future
When JR dies his son will probably take over and even if they sell we still have lots of cheap minority owners.
-
KW Still Stinging
50 Bucks says we offer offer arbitration, he accepts and we have him at $15M for 2005. Than again JR might decline arbitration and we don't get s***.

Sox Closing in on Closer
To be fair Scho has never been a guy to give up a lot of HR's, only 3 in 64.2 innigs last season and he's never given up more than 21 in a single season.

Sox Closing in on Closer
I don't get why people are so high on Damian Moss, he's 27, he's had one fluk season and it's not like he has good stuff or great control. At this point he's no better than Scott Schoenweis.
-
KW got something planned?
1. KW isn't doing s***. 2. I'm not impressed with KC's pitching. 3. This division is so weak no team is a clear favorite, which ever team can get hot and put a few winning streaks together will come out on top. But if i had to pick a favorite i'd still pick the Twins over the Royals.

Is Schoenweis
By the looks of things he will be in the rotation. A better question is who else will join him in the rotation? I don't think KW will sign another starter so it comes down to Rauch, that rule 5 draft pick, Cotts, Wright, and Diaz. We NEED more pitching.
-
Schoeneweis to return
He did pitch over 200 innigs in 2001. I actually like Schoeneweis, yes his ERA is a little high, but when you compare his other stats you should come to the conclusion he had some bad luck or he gave up a lot of runs in one or two outings. A .640 OPS is pretty good. He has good control and dosen't give up many HR's, i think people will be pleasantly surprised with him.

El Caballo Contract is
Well, if he would have went to arbitration these next two years he would have gotten more than 15 mil (given his level of play remains at the same level). The Sox's most likely saved money, its either pay him 15M/2 Years or cut him (i guess you can trade him, but you won't get fair value).
-
If Rogers is Right
I'd rather see Schoeneweis as the 5th starter than Cotts/Wright/Rauch/Diaz/Miller.
-
Schoenwies/Wunsch
Schoeneweis vs Lefits: .227 AVG, .571 OPS Wunch vs. Lefits: .127 AVG, .508 OPS I'd say its a good thing they'll be back.

Okay let me get this straight...
Even with Garcia, Nomar, and Williamson this team isn't good enough to make the playoff (Yes, even in this division). Now, i'm hope i'm wrong and the Sox's win 95+ games, than we can start rebuilding next season, but i don't think this team has is in them to be a playoff team.
-
Okay let me get this straight...
Which is exactly my point, there's no reason to trade for Nomar. The other trade in which Nomar is he's headed to LA in that 3 (or 4) for one swap at least leaves us with something.
-
Okay let me get this straight...
So we can end up with nothing after this season?
-
Can we please stop on Perez
Yeah, but Frank took a contract with nearly half his money being deferred, Maggs or Nomar won't accept a deal like that. PLUS, someone would outbid us for Maggs or Nomar.
-
Can we please stop on Perez
Well, maybe in six years the Sox's will be in a better financial situation (don't know how that could be possible), but the fact is we CAN'T (or at JR won't) resign players like Maggs or Nomar. All we can hope for is to somehow stumble onto a cheap young good pitching staff that rides us into the playoffs.
-
Can we please stop on Perez
Only way the LA deal goes down IMO is if Perez, Mota, Greg Miller and one more top 5 prospect is involved, in which case the Sox's get a great deal. It might be rebuilding, but its better than watching Nomar or Maggs leave after this season.
-
Nomah Doesn't want to come Here
Does anyone think KW is just saying he wants to keep Nomar to drive LAs price up? If LA can't find anyone, they might just give in to that ridiculas offer.
-
Nomar or Odalis
Yeah i see it more like Washburn>Garcia+Perez.
-
WSCR 670 just said
Once again, Huff is cheap, young, and has Maggs type numbers. To get him we'd have to offer A LOT.
