If he doesn't pan out, he was just a bad pick in hindsight. He was a fourth rounder so he was obviously drafted fairly high, and he wasn't with the Sox long enough this year to have his hitting be besmirched by our minor league "development" staff.
True, he likes to have his team issue formal written press releases so he doesn’t have to face the media, even though our Chicago sports media is too cowardly to challenge him.
That’s the problem though. We need more legit OF prospects other than Montgomery and Wolkow.
This season would’ve been perfect to give one playing time.
Quero will be here soon enough but Fletcher is aging out (28 at the end of the season). I’d rather see Canario in this losing season. Still hoping he sucks enough with the Pirates that they DFA him. Canario in LF and Benintendi at DH. Giving at bats to Taylor in a starting role is just such an utter waste.
It’s amazing how many Red Sox fans still love the guy and are rooting for him. It’s the exact opposite of the usual fans that don’t want to see the prospects they give up in a big trade to excel too much and make the trade look bad for them.
Maybe it IS happening but JR is just downplaying it because he doesn’t want to be asked the question non-stop and be badgered by the media?
Nightengale just parrots whatever JR tells him, and I doubt he always gives him the truth.
