Yikes, you aren’t kidding. I just looked around on Twitter. He is getting shredded universally by baseball fans in general, as well as White Sox fans. I think he’s going to have to address it, but not sure how he can walk this mistake back at this point.

If it had only been that first time — the Kaplan / McGuffy interview? — he would have been fine. Four times makes it obviously look like he truly thinks Acuna is a switch hitter. Not a simple brain fart. Also, for as great as Getz has supposedly improved the front office, how does not one of his hires notify him of his flub after the first or second time he said it? How does Getz even try to walk this back now? 🤣

Definitely feeds the idea that the Sox just took back the Mets’ long-rumored trade offer since they agreed to not take back any money from the Sox in the deal. As does all the immediate trades and signings that occurred right after Robert’s $20 million was freed up.

Jeez. Truly makes me think that the extent of Getz’s knowledge on Acuna is reading old Rangers and Mets scouting reports from 2023 and 2024 when he was a still a top 5 prospect in their organizations.

Not sure there’s much of a choice. The Red Sox grabbed every mediocre option already, including the Brewers’. And are the Brewers truly trying to contend? Seems like a quasi rebuild.

In the follow-up tweets, they mention lefty 1B prospect Blake Burke for either Sosa or Mead. Burke is the Brewers #16 prospect. I’d be fine with that. Nice guy to have around in case Murakami leaves via free agency in two years. He could also DH.

My only point was that it could very well be that those young players all developed because of the changes that Getz made, but I also don’t think we can just assume they would have failed if Hahn remained the GM. For as much hate as Hahn gets, it is rather ironic that four of those key young players mentioned were acquired when Hahn was the GM.

Because no one knows for sure if they would have failed as prospects without Getz taking over as GM.

The majority of players you mentioned were drafted or acquired by Hahn — Colson, Baldwin, Quero, and Sosa. Only Teel and Vargas were acquired by Getz. Just thought that was a bit funny.
