  1. I can’t read the full article but it seems like a direct shot at Hahn’s old strategy.
  2. I’m not painting it in any way. I just posted the facts.
  3. Flexen wasn’t great last season but he was better than he was in 2023. Strange that he would have to take less money this offseason than last offseason. Or perhaps the Cubs gave him what he is worth and Getz just overpaid the guy last offseason.
  4. Flexen got $1.75 million from Getz last offseason and signs a non-guaranteed minor league deal this offseason.
  5. It’s funny that you had no problem questioning The Athletic’s Dan Hayes regarding his story about trade talks between the Twins and White Sox and Luke Keaschall. Do you pick and choose which journalists you believe and which ones you don’t based on if you like their stories or not?
  6. So this was the draft pick they got back in the Gregory Santos trade? Yikes… Zach DeLoach — DFA and no other team wanted him so the Sox retained him. Prelander Berroa — 6.41 ERA and 1.83 WHIP in Charlotte last season. Looked good with Sox but had a near 1.50 WHIP because he walks too many batters. 69th pick in the 2024 draft — Blake Larson — needs TJ surgery
  7. Numerous comments that he was light on experience for the role. And then he was light on experience yet again when JR promoted him to GM.
  8. Is it even pessimism though? It’s easier to justify a ranking for a load of guys that have at least tasted the minors and had success already. If B. Montgomery has some success this year, he could probably jump like 50 spots on their next list or something ridiculous like that.
  9. Horrible numbers but he supposedly has a 5 pitch mix. Still only 25. Definitely worth a shot.
  10. At this point, obviously you play the guy (Fletcher) to see if he can do something. He’s 27 years old and you already traded Mena for him. It’s now or never so you may as well play him. Why the hell would a team that will likely lose 100 games sign a starting platoon RF of old mediocre players instead, that likely won’t be flipped for anything of value? Fletcher has 241 plate appearances with the Sox. He’s already a sunk cost and the Sox still haven’t given him enough playing time. Getz is clueless and moves like this make him look way in over his head. What are we doing here giving playing time to Tauchman and Slater?
  11. Better late than never, I guess. But since this is all new to the Sox, they are still behind other teams as a result.
  12. Yes, let me bow down to our GM’s greatness. He also forced us to watch the suck that is Vargas going forward and that Cease trade ain’t looking so hot these days. He also traded for a 5’6” outfielder that he is now looking for excuses to not play by signing 3 (maybe 4 if Gallo makes the team) over-the-hill veteran outfielders. Anti-Getz bias? The guy blows… But let me praise him for a trade that netted an A-ball reliever after he failed numerous other trades.
  13. Oh yeah, Tim Hill was good once he left the Sox for the Yankees.
  14. Defense and leadership is all you need!
  15. Have any of the players Getz signed last offseason signed for more money this offseason? Sure seems like none of them have.
  16. I don’t think any of those players can be qualified even that highly.
  17. We already know the answer to this — the guy can’t stay healthy and that’s definitely what the Sox fear most.
  18. Yep, that’s a problem. $100 million dollar contracts don’t even get you really good players anymore.
  19. It didn’t happen. An offer isn’t a contract. The fact remains… 5/$75. Period. Do Blue Jays fans still give credit to their team for trying but failing to sign Ohtani? No. A failed signing is just that — a whiff, a failure. No one cares. No one wants to overpay bad players. I don’t see anywhere in this thread where anyone claimed that the Benintendi signing was great. But continue on with your stupid hyperbole and lies about what I said about Michael A. Taylor. I wanted the Sox to sign him last offseason for $3 to $4 million dollars as a flip candidate. Well, he sucked bad and the Sox just gave him $2 million this offseason instead. Why you think this is some sort of burn, I’ll never know. You continue making excuses for a bad, cheap owner and team — “The Sox last big contract was bad so they are justified in never giving out big contracts!” No. The problem is with the awful GMs that Jerry hires picking the wrong players to sign. And it doesn’t matter anyways. SS2K5 nailed it here. So while you continue to fantasize about a contract offer that was never formalized, remember that the Sox would still be in the minority of cheapskate teams even had Wheeler accepted it.
  20. The running theme is that Getz continues to take back the wrong players in his trades, regardless of the scale of players involved. Even with lesser trades, your team isn’t going to improve when you continue to take back negative WAR players over ~2 WAR players.
  21. 5/$75. We are in the basement with the A’s. Does that impress you? An offer isn’t a contract. Do you agree that 5/$75 is pathetic and embarrassing?
