  1. True. Think about how much more ridiculous free agent money will be in 3 years, especially when good (not great) players like Profar and Joc get paid what they did now. As long as Bregman doesn’t fall off a cliff (injuries or performance), he should do well.
  2. Agreed, but it could go either way. If he was a couple years older, I’d say take the guaranteed years and money from Houston. Will he still be good enough at age 33 to make $36+ million more? Perhaps. He’s rich either way but he’s betting on himself.
  3. Funny how Getz has now acquired both guys I thought would be cheap worthwhile pickups last year. So is Getz as stupid as me for acquiring those two guys? You can’t have it both ways. And I never said either guy was going to save the season or be flipped for good prospects, perhaps low level A ball prospects. Once again, this is your continued hyperbole and you do it to everyone here that you disagree with. The White Sox dumpster diving meme never gets old because they have done it for years and years and years. The strategy has not changed from Kenny, to Hahn, to Getz. I don’t know how you could even try to deny this. Everyone on this site knows it and has lived through it.
  4. Dems the rumors. Cease, yes. Turner, only if he’s short-term and cheap. Dude is 40.
  5. That’s brutal. They gave a meh player a two year extension during which the Bulls will no doubt be bad, rather than taking a first round pick.
  6. Sadly, they are likely better off without him in the long run at this price and the fact that they have Matt Shaw. Nightengale said their final offer was 4/$120. $40 million AAV for Bregman is crazy money. Also, not spending this money on Bregman could help them resign Kyle Tucker next offseason.
  7. That’s all WE employs — hyperbole. He is saying I raved about one mediocre player when all I said is that Taylor would be a good “flip candidate” for Getz to acquire last offseason. Meanwhile, WE is the same guy that claimed last year’s bullpen could be lockdown. So while he is spouting hyperbole about how I was wrong about one mediocre “flip candidate”, WE was wrong about an entire crappy bullpen that his lord and master Getz built. But this is what WE does. He’s a lot like Jerry — defer, deflect, etc. Anything to ignore the absolute flaming dumpster state of the White Sox.
  8. Like I said in another thread, Taylor was good in 2022 and 2023 so I thought he would be a good add last offseason. The guy completely tanked in 2024, likely due to old age — if his offense tanks worse than it usually is because he was never a good hitter to begin with, his great glove can’t make up for it. Obviously, I was wrong and Taylor would have been a bad acquisition last offseason. So I’m not sure what point you are trying to make here. I doubt he is going to improve another year later at age 34. I guess if Robert is traded during ST, it could make some sense, but what about all the other mediocre veterans that were acquired? Why does Getz continue to acquire bad veterans when he has his own young players to give at bats to?
  9. Going back 20 years? Okay… Well, the White Sox have been a team in existence since 1901. The Padres have only been around since 1969. That’s 68 more seasons that the White Sox have played. In 68 less seasons, the Padres have 8 playoff appearances while the White Sox only have 11 with an insane advantage of time. Let me repeat that — in 68 more seasons of baseball, the White Sox have only been to the playoffs 3 more times than the Padres. That’s flat-out embarrassing no matter how you try to justify [sugarcoat] it. I’m pretty sure this stat is also still accurate — among all 30 MLB teams, the White Sox have the worst ratio of playoff appearances (11) compared to their total seasons in existence (124). Meanwhile, the Padres have to compete with the Dodgers while the White Sox division is typically one of the weakest in all of baseball. If you think the Padres are a pathetic franchise worthy of your jokes, what does that make the White Sox? Finally, what does your last sentence even mean? Why can’t the White Sox start acting like a major market team and do both — spend money AND win championships? Yes, “LOL” indeed. 🤡
  10. Ripping on the Padres as a White Sox fan is hilarious. When is the last time the White Sox had 4 winning seasons in a 5 year stretch and made the playoffs 3 times in that window?
  11. I think they may just be this stupid. For example, how long have they employed this dumpster diving strategy to build a roster, whether they have young players that need playing time or not? It never works and it never changes.
  12. JR is still reeling from that Benintendi signing.
  13. Crazy money. Cubs are probably better off in the long run considering their top prospect is a 3B.
  14. Funny how most of the players Getz acquired last year had to sign for half the money or less because they were so bad with the Sox last season. Getz sure knows how to pick em.
  15. Tigers signed RHP John Brebbia to a one-year, $2.25 million contract with a $4 million club option for 2026.
  16. Who is they? I thought Sheets was a decent lefty bench bat and Julks was good enough to be the right-handed side of a RF platoon? Why did Getz cut such talented players?
  17. The Dodgers also acquire a hundred good players to cover for their injuries. The Sox have guys like Touki as a backup.
  18. Jerry cloned himself and can now live forever.
  19. Check your sources again. Benintendi won a GG in 2021, not 2019, and Tauchman never won a GG.
  20. I’d like to see anyone try to refute your point here and try to justify what Getz is doing.
  21. And these veteran signings getting playing time over the Sox own young players (even if they all completely flop) is not going to be a difference maker in the season. It will be a losing season regardless. Which is why it would make more sense just to give the at bats to the young players. It’s like Getz is trying to continuously build a bad team full of mediocre veterans rather than just giving his own prospects a shot. The results will be a losing season either way so what is the point?
  22. Eldridge. One for one swap. Unfortunately, that’s probably not realistic at all.
  23. And he sucked last year after a good 2022 and 2023. He is turning 34 next month. Time changes everything. But I guess this shows us what Getz thinks about Fletcher and Colas. And since you kept ripping adding Taylor last offseason, shouldn’t you think this is a pointless/stupid move again this offseason?
