  1. Yep, cuz you know if Robert has another mediocre-to-bad season, Jerry isn’t going to approve Robert’s $20 million dollar team option. No way, no how. He’s getting his $2 million dollar payout.
  2. Yep, and MLB has him at #92 on there top 100 list. Arroyo’s value is down because he missed the entire 2024 season after having surgery to repair a torn labrum in his left shoulder. So realistically, the Sox would need to get back another good prospect along with Arroyo to trade Robert (and eat some of his money — haha!).
  3. Sure, their two top pitching prospects, but they won’t be trading either for Robert. And the Sox need a position prospect headliner anyways. But I assume that is what you are getting at.
  4. And keep in mind, Wittenmeyer covered the Cubs beat for years here in Chicago for both the Sun Times and NBC Sports Chicago, so he should be very aware of Jerry’s cheapness. What a clown.
  5. Yeah, I just listened to the podcast and now I think Wittenmeyer is a dope. He mentioned how the Sox could pay Robert’s entire contract — well, sure they could Gordon, but look at who the owner is. Not.gonna.happen. Also, Wittenmeyer said that this would only be a one-year proposition for the Reds to acquire Robert so they aren’t going to want to pay too much. Huh? Does he not know about Robert’s team options for 2026 and 2027? This report lost all value once you realize Wittenmeyer is clueless.
  6. Agreed. Do it. The cash included may counter Robert’s loss of value for being so bad last season. Pay up for the better prospects you want, especially considering two things — he’s your last good trade piece and god knows the Getz has cut the payroll so much ($67 million?) they have some money to burn.
  7. Good point. Why would they sign a legit manager to a 3-year deal with a 4th year option if they aren’t “going for it”?
  8. I heard he’s also in the best shape of his life.
  9. Eliminated before the season even started. Sure makes you want to spend your hard-earned dollar on Jerry’s product, don’t it? 🤣
  10. He needs to start showing some semblance of power though. Still very young though.
  11. Berroa will walk the world. Good luck with that bullpen arm. It won’t be pretty.
  12. Getz paid him $4.3 million guaranteed. The Cubs get him for a non-guaranteed $1.5 million.
  13. That Santos trade is looking like hot garbage right now. But perhaps this move indicates they will keep Montgomery down for a bit, which is good.
  14. It’s a running theme with both of Jerry’s teams so it shouldn’t be a surprise.
  15. And it doesn’t match up with his perpetual “Cubs fan troll” attacks on anyone that doesn’t support the Sox.
  16. Reinsdorf is an abomination in two sports. What an owner.
  17. Let’s look at this a different way. Perhaps you are one of the reasons the Sox suck and never spend money. You support this garbage team and owner. Jerry knows you will spend money on his garbage product regardless so he never has to spend money on the team. Enjoy watching games this year for a $67 million dollar payroll team.
  18. We have a GM who got a mediocre return for Cease and chose to trade for Fletcher over McCarthy. Getz choosing Vargas over Keaschall wouldn’t be surprising at all. At least it looks like he may have nailed the Crochet trade.
  19. 😶 https://syndication.bleacherreport.com/amp/2794480-re-ranking-all-30-mlb-farm-systems-at-the-end-of-2018-milb-season.amp.html
  20. More like “yet another awful player that Getz once acquired.”
  21. Acquiring Vargas instead dropped them to #2.
  22. He also greatly underestimated the number of peons chanting for Jerry to sell the team.
