Imagine being a fan of a team that dumps a good cheap reliever to make room to sign an even better and more expensive closer. I hope the Dodgers win the next 5 World Series and make every other cheap team eat 💩.

Other teams spend on things like this all the time and still manage to also have a reasonable payroll. The Sox have to do this now because they’ve failed in choosing the wrong front office, scouting, development, and technology for years and years. And we still don’t know if they nailed it this time either. No bonus points granted for that.

We already saw what happened. The Royals extended Witt last February and then the team went on to finish 86-76 with a playoff berth.

No, but they did manage to sign Witt to a $288 million dollar contract. Jerry is at $75 million.

Yet those many teams at the bottom have still signed players to $100 million dollar contracts.
