Luis Robert trade thread: La Pantera stays.
Robert already showed he was healthy enough by starting in CF last night and having a decent night at the plate with a hit and a walk. If there is any player in the MLB that would get injured in his last game before the trade deadline and f*** over this team worse than he has already done with his two poor seasons in a row, it would be Robert. I see no reason to risk it.

Agreed. I think you sit him due to the injury risk and the fact that whatever team acquires him can immediately start him instead of having to wait for his next turn in the rotation.

Sox trade Andrew Vaughn to acquire Aaron Civale
Good point. Still a very small sample size but Vaughn had only 7 walks and 43 strikeouts in 193 plate appearances with the Sox this year. He now already has 7 walks and only 7 strikeouts in only 57 plate appearances with the Brewers. Once again, still a very small sample size but WTH was the guy doing at the plate for the Sox? Swinging at everything because he didn’t give a s%*#?

Of course. Is one game or one start really going to change the minds of teams interested in Robert and Houser at this point, to be worth more than the risk of them getting injured? No way. Will be interesting to see if Hauser gets scratched and Robert is out of the lineup. I wouldn’t be surprised.

Tauchman Rumors
Sure does. https://www.mlb.com/amp/news/andrew-benintendi-white-sox-deal.html Perhaps we should be somewhat happy that Jerry always refused to sign any player to a massive 10+ year deal. Of course the one time everyone wanted to do it was with Harper and that one would have been worth it.

RIP Hulk Hogan
Yes, Hulk did raise a moronic man child in Nick that probably still thinks he did nothing wrong in his life. In 2007, the guy put his best friend into a paralyzed vegetative state from drunk and reckless driving while drag racing. Hulk actually blamed the best friend/victim in recorded calls to his son Nick while he was in jail. In 2023, Nick got busted for a DUI so what do you do after that? Surely the wise move is to take your son on tour to bars, clubs, and restaurants around the country in order to shill your Real American Beer. Perhaps that wasn’t the wisest of decisions when your son obviously has a problem with drinking. That was just a totally awful decision and look. https://youtu.be/829CE9nmYAA?si=MIcE0Enl0gXnxeiM

Luis Robert trade thread: La Pantera stays.
I don’t know anything about either guy, but it looks like Chace walks the world and would be the last thing we need. Getz has acquired enough pitchers like that already, so unless the Sox think they can fix his control with a tweak rather easily…

Yes, I don’t think it will happen — eating Robert’s entire remaining salary. Just hypothesizing.

Adrian Houser traded to TB for former top prospect Curtis Mead
Yep, the risk of injury would make starting Houser tomorrow a very stupid decision. Also, with skipping his start tomorrow, whatever team that acquires Houser will be able to start him almost immediately makes it a no brainer decision.

Luis Robert trade thread: La Pantera stays.
Yep. The problem with the Phillies is that the prospect we would really want from them (Crawford) is likely too big of an ask for Robert + Wilson/Altavilla, even if we eat most of Robert’s salary. The scary thing about this Acuna rumor is that the Mets have better options for the Sox that aren’t rated too highly to be unrealistic targets in Clifford, Ewing, and Gilbert. This just feels like the Mets are trying to push Acuna on the Sox because they know he’s no damn good and are trying to deal him for what they need while he still has value.

Oh, sorry, I meant the Sox. Assuming the Sox interest is in Acuna, I could see them converting him to CF.

39 games in CF in the minors. 2 games in CF in the majors (both this year). I would definitely hope Getz aims higher than Acuna, but I really wouldn’t be surprised to see him do something like this. Samuel Zavala won’t even be on the Sox top 30 prospect listing after this season and is looking like a part of another poor Getz trade return. What other CF prospects do they have?

He would hit more homers if he had any patience and wasn’t swinging at every bad pitch thrown his way. His current BB to strikeout rate is eerily close to last year, and both are bad.

Luis Robert trade thread: La Pantera stays.
I would not be surprised if the Sox tried to make him a full-time CF. Either way, BAD. You can have great tools but you still have to be able to hit. How did this guy make the MLB’s top 100 list two years in a row (#71 in 2023, #93 in 2024)?

I didn’t think the Sox could target a worse option than Vientos, but apparently I was wrong. We could have a nice collection of some of the weakest hitting 2B of all time.

Tauchman Rumors
He would be cheap to bring back via salary arbitration and start in RF next season as a bridge to Braden Montgomery. Jerry likes cheap. Regardless, with Montgomery on the horizon and Benintendi unfortunately signed for two more seasons (2026 and 2027), it wouldn’t make much sense to sign a free agent corner outfielder for multiple years in the offseason.

I think this makes a lot of sense. Day game after a night game, righty Taijuan Walker on the mound for the Phillies, off day on Thursday (trade deadline day). No reason to risk injury to Robert. I even question starting Houser tomorrow over doing a bullpen day.

Sox trade Andrew Vaughn to acquire Aaron Civale
I question that he keeps it up. Doesn’t mean it’s not hilarious that he does this as soon as he leaves the lowly Sox. He is possibly earning himself millions right now after he was sent to the minors by the Sox and looking like a non-tender in the offseason if he remained with the team all season. That’s what is amazing.
