I would hope that if a prospect like Clifford was being offered, Getz would have already taken the deal. I know all the rumors have been about the Sox wanting pitching in return for Robert, but Getz would be nuts to turn down such an offer, which makes me think the offers aren’t that good.

I can’t argue. At least Kelenic has youth on his side. I don’t see Conforto magically getting better or staying healthy. If we aren’t necessarily expecting to make the postseason, see what some outfielders can do that aren’t nearing retirement.

True, but Conforto is still not the guy you want in that scenario. He hasn’t been good in years and he’s just another year older. We need — “or someone like him that’s younger.”

Exactly. This new strategy by MLB teams finally makes sense. High AAV and lower years. Teams finally wised up. Why pay a guy $25-$30 million on a 10 year deal until they are well past retirement?

Not so sure about that, but we will likely never know either way.

The Cubs dumped Tucker for an older and less expensive bat. The White Sox think spending $34 million plus a posting fee on a player is a big deal. The fact is that all of these teams could spend more if they wanted to but still aren’t. You should be more upset with those teams than the Dodgers who make their fans happy by spending big.
