  1. I’m not disagreeing with you. My point is that it’s strange Elias threw any money at Tyler O’Neill and Gary Sanchez rather than just stick with Heston Kjerstad in the outfield and René Pinto at backup catcher. Find a cheaper DH against lefties (Mayo/Basallo). Use that $58 million toward a starting pitcher. Don’t waste those millions on positions you can already replace with your own farm system.
  2. And strange, lol. Do the Reds have a lot of players that have bounceback seasons or something? Most fans would be saying they should get Robert for a prospect out of their top 10.
  3. I read the same thread. General consensus was it was a good trade for both teams as they know they will lock Crochet up long-term. But many stated that it was a lot to give up for him. But it was the old adage — you have to give up something to get something.
  4. That makes sense. He’ll be 28 soon and might not fit the Sox window but would be desirable to a contender if he keeps doing what he does. Cannon fits the Sox window.
  5. Yep, this is something Hahn at least did quite a bit more than Getz. Obviously not very successful but why not try? No one will remember Tauchman and Slater were even Sox in a few years except for the diehards. Try someone younger…
  6. That should definitely be the focus — SS and CF. Everyone can be moved around later, if needed. If Getz is able to trade Robert for Arroyo or Crawford, that’s a great offseason for the future, even if he doesn’t make another move.
  7. Wow, pretty impressive. Hope Getz also sold them on the consolation prize of Robert for Crawford.
  8. Chicago White Sox The 121 L's Train Shirt Losin’ Ugly Shirt
  9. Yes and yes, unless you don’t think he will improve at all. He’s only 24.
  10. The offseason isn’t over yet. If Elias doesn’t improve his rotation by the start of the season, he definitely fucked up. Meanwhile, Elias didn’t set the modern record for losses like Getz did. But I guess Getz just made one good trade so all of that is forgotten, huh? 🤣
  11. But they are practically unnecessary moves when you need starting pitching.
  12. It also doesn’t make much sense. Elias doesn’t want to spend any money but gives 3/$49.5 million to Tyler O’Neill when he already has a dirt cheap and good young replacement outfielder for Anthony Santander in Heston Kjerstad? He gives 1/$8.5 million to Gary Sanchez to fill a backup catcher and DH against lefties role? If Elias neglects to improve the Orioles rotation this offseason, maybe I’ll buy this story. But those two moves don’t really line up with a GM who doesn’t want to spend money and that desperately needs to bolster his rotation.
  13. I don’t think we really do, but maybe he’s referring to Benintendi in a salary dump or swap of bad contracts?
  14. The Red Sox jumped on Teel at #14 right before the White Sox picked Jacob Gonzalez at #15. I remember hearing that the White Sox would have taken Teel instead of Gonzalez but what am I missing? They were beaten out by one spot.
  15. For the White Sox it would be.
  16. I don’t think the 3-year max window Robert could be here is quite long enough to fit the Sox window to be competitive again. Plus, you always have to worry about his next injury. I still think he is traded before we find out what kind of season he has. But in your scenario, I think he would then be traded at the 2025 trade deadline.
  17. If Getz can move Robert for a good SS prospect, you can always slide Montgomery over to 3B eventually and improve the defense on the entire left side. Colson is a pretty big dude at 6’3”, 225 and may be better suited for 3B in the long run.
  18. It could be, but more than likely Robert will be traded before Montgomery makes the majors. Benintendi might be gone as well via a swap of bad contracts / salary dump, if Jerry has his way and Getz finds a willing suitor.
  19. I don’t know about all that but hopefully he’s a genetic splice of Dustin Pedroia and Kevin Youkilis. It would be nice if he can be a legit starter at 2B. It would also be nice to get a legit SS or CF prospect for Robert now.
  20. Crawford from the Phillies or Arroyo from the Reds would be nice. Sucks that Robert had such a down year that those guys are a stretch in a one-for-one trade.
  21. Curious to see what other teams were offering, if those offers leak out.
  22. I wonder what the offers are for him and what Getz is expecting.
  23. And where is the evidence of this? I must have missed these posts.
  24. Yeah, but like @Bob Sacamano said, that didn’t happen. Is it possible that this is the first big trade that the majority of posters think Getz won right from the beginning / on paper?
