This makes zero sense though. Lopez had one good season with the bat in 2021, that is all. Only the Sox would be stupid enough to view Lopez as a starter. It’s embarrassing. And does he truly move the needle at all on the fan base, just because he is from Naperville? You have to still be a good player for fans to care about you, which Lopez is not.

Sheets has already come back to earth in the last week or so. We will have to see where he is by the end of the season but I wouldn’t at all be surprised if he is a non-tender candidate by the end of the year.

Yep, that doesn’t make sense. You don’t arbitrarily call someone up in a season if the player doesn’t appear ready for the majors.

Like you said, there were other options. Call up Sosa instead. Hell, bring back old man Moustakas to play 3B and cut Justin Anderson. The entire defense of Getz signing veteran bums this past offseason was to allow the minor leaguers time to earn their way to the MLB roster, you know, when they were actually ready. It feels like Getz was going to call up all of these young guys this season regardless of how they were performing in the minors at the time.

I think drunks have more respect for their favorite lightposts, just like dogs and their favorite fire hydrants.
