  1. So AJP said he no longer works for the White Sox because he criticized their player development. I am drawing a blank on this. Can anyone share this story?
  2. A player is worth what a team is willing to pay for him. No team was willing to pay Pham that kind of money on the free agent market, hence his value wasn’t that high. I realize he was productive last year but he’s also 36 years old and could be in line for a steep decline. That could be why no team thought he was worth throwing $7 to $10 million at. Baseball is a young man’s game and only the Sox haven’t figured this out yet.
  3. And the potential to make $4.5 million. I realize a $3 million base salary isn’t much but no other team was going to sign the guy due to his age unless they suffered an OF injury. Pham was just sitting around waiting. For a team trying to compete I could see it making sense. But I’m surprised JR would agree to pay more money in an attempt to prevent what looks unavoidable, a record losing season.
  4. He shouldn’t concede anything to you. You’re wrong. Are you still living in the dead-ball era of baseball or something? A .725 career OPS for a 1B? Yes, that is indeed a schlub. That’s a mediocre to decent OPS for a middle infielder, not a 1B. Tim Anderson has a career .733 OPS. Meanwhile, Brandon Belt, albeit old at 35, has an .817 career OPS and he’s currently a free agent. Do I want Brandon Belt over Vaughn? No, because he’s 35 and does nothing for this team, much like all the other old vets that Getz acquired this past offseason and continues to acquire. However, Vaughn’s numbers are simply terrible for a 1B no matter how you try to portray them and he’s very replaceable as a player. Your expectations for players are extremely low because you are a Sox fan and this team has terrible players at almost every position. Take a look at other teams and their players and you will get the idea. Regarding your last point, yes it is absolutely SHOCKING that both Eloy and Moncada got injured. No one could have predicted them frequenting the IL for long periods of time this season. Who cares when it happened? It was inevitable. Here’s an interesting tweet for you: Also, Vaughn has put up mediocre offense for a 1B in his entire Sox tenure. Benintendi was awful last year and owns a .759 career OPS. He also plays LF, a position where teams typically put one of their worst defenders but the player is expected to make up for it with their bat. You act like these two guys are historically good hitters, when the evidence shows that they have not been. Benintendi has been the very definition of average to mediocre and Vaughn has never been a good hitter at all.
  5. I think he has a concussion from getting dunked on by Jerry, the worst owner in baseball.
  6. Getz and the Sox make me sad. But Walton Goggins is always worth the watch. He’s great in Fallout.
  7. Wow. Hoping this is just BS and Getz is smarter than this.
  8. I’m shocked that Pham got that much money and that Jerry approved this signing. He must really not want to set records.
  9. Just hit his sixth homer tonight.
  10. Can we go back in time and trade Vaughn and a pitcher to the Dodgers for Michael Busch?
  11. Rosario is no big loss but it’s a good thing they dumped Rodriguez only to DFA numerous guys later. But I guess it was important for the Sox to keep Bryan Shaw employed. Yes, this guy… looks like he’s about 48.
  12. Your logic is sound my friend.
  13. He’s better than the utter s%*# your boy acquired.
  14. They didn’t need either of these bums. Both were going to be DFA candidates from the start of the regular season. $6 million thrown into the fire pit. ?
  15. I was all about this one as well. Not a surprise that the Rays made better dumpster diving signings than the Sox.
  16. So we are supposed to applaud a GM who acquired terrible players in the offseason that should be DFA after a matter of weeks? The decisions taking place now don’t remove the fact that Getz signed all these losers in the first place. The fault always goes back to him, regardless of these sad excuses people want to make for him.
  17. I think only Brandon Belt is left at this point, after Getz already scrounged Grossman and Pham.
  18. How many other MLB teams look like they will get shut out almost every single game? This has to be one of the worst offenses in MLB history.
  19. The guy is terrible and they are paying $4.3 million for him.
  20. Remember all the Sox fans that said, at least he can tell what a home run is, unlike Benetti? Oops.
  21. At least AV sucking stops Stone from ridiculously fluffing him all the time.
  22. That’s not me. He should’ve been cut earlier to keep Jose Rodriguez on the 40-man roster.
  23. No, because he was called up after the deadline to retain a year of control on him.
  24. Carrying the team to the bottom of the standings.
  25. Don’t forget the $75 million dollar man at .367 and $4.3 million dollar Nicky Lopez at .374.
