This team isn't even an abortion. This team is the seed that gets left in a tissue and dies on a nightstand after sitting there for a couple days.

I think I've figured it out. Jerry wants to prove to the city/state that the Sox can't draw any attendance so he can get that tax money for a new stadium, so he intentionally told Getz to build the worst team in baseball history.

That's being saved for the maximum impact -- after the end of the season, to detract and deflect from Jerry's comments at the end of last season about being close to a winning team with a few tweaks and Getz's horrible offseason as much as possible.
