  1. When has a JR owned Sox team gone after the big fish? They will do what they always do in free agency and spread their money out on a bunch of mediocre players, rather than signing one star that could out-WAR their entire offseason. It’s sad but true and it doesn’t matter who the GM is — Getz, Hahn, or Kenny. It’s Jerry’s call. He doesn’t believe in paying the price that top free agents cost. It will be more of the same strategy — sign mediocre, mid-level or lower tier free agents and hope they match their career years.
  2. There was hope last year that they would be good. This offseason, we watched our new GM sign a bunch of guys that everyone knew would suck. I don’t find any of these terrible vets likable.
  3. I like how he is using lack of fan support as an excuse for the team losing without having the balls to say it. Grifol is a coward and a clown.
  4. Bummer’s numbers are starting to look good. His K/9 is good but his WHIP is still high from giving up too many hits. But it could still be a good trade for both teams with the Sox getting Shuster and Gowens. I’m skeptical on Shuster but we’ll see. Lopez, Soroka, and Shewmake are trash unfortunately.
  5. If you watched each and every one of Getz’s roster moves, it’s pretty obvious he panicked. Trading talent for Bailey Horn and then having to DFA Horn is one example. He started out not wanting to cut bad veteran relievers loose to later cutting both these same vets as well as prospects loose to make room on the 40-man roster for new players.
  6. Well, that didn’t last long… Cutting one horrible pitcher to bring back another horrible pitcher who should also be DFA. ?
  7. He’s bad but he makes it worse by pretending to be completely baseball stupid just to set up Stone Pony to answer a question. But like @southsider2k5 has said, The Legend isn’t looking to help any of his partners very much by sparking much discussion.
  8. Compliments of @Quin…
  9. Remember when Flexen was tradeable for about 5 minutes? ?
  10. Nope, I heard it live. The dude literally said this on air. “Dan, I’ll have sex with your mother.” A sports radio producer said this live on air. Why? Cuz he’s a moron.
  11. Riordan is still an immature idiot. He talks like a teenager and he’s over 30. He would’ve been fired by any real company. https://www.thedailybeast.com/chicagos-shane-riordan-absent-from-radio-show-after-threats-to-bone-rival-radio-hosts-mom If you like Cubs talk, Spiegel is your man. He’s a Cubs fan and will always steer the conversation to the Cubs, just like David Haugh. Which I guess I can understand since the Sox suck. Parkins is like an infomercial hype-man. Listen to him and count the number of times he says “that’s amazing” or “that’s fantastic” or “that’s outstanding” to any lame comment or barely exciting story. You could make it a drinking game and you would be hammered by an hour through the radio show.
  12. After being DFA, Bailey Horn was traded to the Red Sox for Jerry’s favorite thing… cash.
  13. Does it seem like there is any rhyme or reason to some of Getz’s decisions / moves?
  14. What did he say this time?
  15. Someone else argued with me that Keller was a good signing.
  16. He’s just serving up those Maggiano’s meatballs.
  17. The strategy has been to acquire anyone who is cheap and hope they match their best season.
  18. Getz thought he was deserving.
  19. Brad Keller. Career WHIP near 1.50. Dude blows.
  20. I see Moncada and Eloy are raising their hands to respond…
  21. Riordan thinks he’s the greatest radio producer of all time because he brings in some “notable” guests on the show. It’s usually some B-level actor like Michael Rapaport. ? The irony is that most of the sports radio personalities all worked the very same radio producer job before they made it on air. It’s not even a very high paying job, but they have to work their way up doing it to get on air. I think The Score’s management knows that no one wants to hear Riordan with his own show because he’s such a dbag and that’s why he’s still toiling away as a producer. The truth is that the majority of posters on this site know more about the Sox and baseball than clowns like Parkins, Spiegel, and Riordan.
  22. Agreed, Schriffen is a little too defensive (“haters” comment and now this). I guess when the team sucks as bad as it does, these guys have nothing better to do than have these little cat fights.
  23. Exactly. Riordan likes to dish it but can’t take it. Many people are telling him that he and The Score are as soft as Charmin.
  24. I would agree with you. It seems like the scouting has improved greatly over the past few weeks On a side note, how are the Jeeps running these days?
