i thought we should have rebuilt after last year...traded magglio and loaiza and whoever else would have brought anything. the downside of doing that was the risk of alienating the fans. but i think they've done that anyway.

i don't really see defense as being that big of an issue either.

guys who the sox were "seriously" interested in signing as free agents: a-rod mcgwire bonilla tartabull (when he was good) bob welch (when he won 27 games) joe carter (they couldn't even get buddy bell) i'm sure there were many more.

i think it's a combination of his inability to steal bases and some off the field "attitude" stuff.

half a season? more like a season and a half.

I think I read this morning he was coaching with Montreal. I don't really care who the bench coach is, it doesn't matter.

I guess my point is, he would be nice to have, but it's going to cost.

he made 11 million this year. he'll be 32. He's having a damn good year. I think he'd get at least $8 mil/year on the open market.

That lineup is average at best.

i think eddie collins played more for the sox than any other team. he's a upper echelon HOF'er.

this makes me think about last offseason when we waited and waited and waited for something to happen. KW is going to have to take a new approach... 8 years since we signed a significant FA in the offseason - belle.

maybe it's time to recalculate those numbers....
