Gio Gonzalez, lhp, #38 pick
If Gonzalez signs, he's a bigger steal than even Sweeney IMO.

Wunsch clears waivers
Well, someone is getting brought up or a trade is going down quite soon.

Reagan 1911-2004: nonpartisan thread
Your ignorance never ceases to amaze me. As my Uncle said yesterday, he's probably being judged by the nuns massacred in El Salvador and the gays who died of AIDS. While I did not like him as a President, may he rest in peace.

And speaking of subtle
RHP Dan Wright had reconstructive elbow surgery June 1 and is not expected to pitch for the next 18 months, the Arlington Heights Daily Herald reported June 3. "His (elbow) ligament was beat up," trainer Herm Schneider told the newspaper. "He also had a lot of bone chips in there. They cleaned it up and strengthened the ligament."

Draft and Follow signings
I think I heard that this is not Duane Shafer's kid. COuld be wrong though. Everly was drafted twice by the Sox, solid pickup. Hear anything on Van Pope? BA rated him the 3rd best JuCo draft and follow.

What would it take to get Garcia?
Also remember that Finley is a 5/10 guy, meanign he can veto any trade he doesn't like.

Freddy Garcia Article
I'd do that trade in a second and laugh my way to the bank.

No, but I'll see if I can find it anywhere where I live (doubtful).

Oakland's pitching advantage?
Maybe that's why Zito has become so overrated and turned to s***.

Botch and Stat Padder
Throw out the first game Shingo pitched and you've got: 19.1 IP 9 H 1 R 1 ER 0 HR 5 BB 16 SO My trusty calculator says that's an ERA of 0.46. WHIP of .72. If you don't think Shingo should be our closer, I'd suggest watching hitters flail all over the place trying to hit a 60 MPH frisbee after seeing a astball paint the corner at 87.

Boos rain on Cubs in loss
So Corey would rather make on out than take a strike? Well Corey, enjoy being a sub 800 OPS all throughout your career then. You make my signature proud.

Favorite Movie
I think the contrast between Flora's face when he first joins the partisans and when he leaves the barn did it for me. While I have heard that he might have been hypnotized at that scene, Klimov did a f***ing amazing job with the facial expressions. To this day, I think Flora's face when he sees the Byelorussian citizens burned in the church is the most powerful anti-war thing I have seen. For a first time actor to give a performance that good is absolutely astonishing. I had a feeling you might have seen this, Brando. I tink I'm one of the 3 people in Indiana who have actually seen this movie.

Ignorant Call-Ups
It's kind of hard calling up J Reed when all spots on the 40 man roster are filled. Unless KW is some sort of magician, this was the right move to make. And a healthy Jamie Burke is much better than an injured Joe Borchard.

Sheets or CC??
This is a joke, right? Won't happen, end of story.

Mike Ferris??
Ferris has Oakland written all over him....except he's a Junior. Interesting guy, can hit the crap out of the ball.

Konerko
Odalis Perez: 2-3 3.05 ERA 11 GS .671 OOPS Away from the Ravine: 5 GS 35 IP OBA .193 WHIP That's hard to resist, but it'd be difficult to find someone cheaply to produce an .880 OPS.

Weaver may not go #1
Gautreau has been poor at best throughout his stint in the Padres organization. As of now he's hitting an impressive .216 in AA after hitting around .250 in Mobile last year. If anything, Josh Barfield is the Padres 2B of the future, but even he is struggling mightily in AA.

Whoa, stop right there. Maybe Jose has had more DP opps than Konerko? Other factors? Let's break out the stats once again, 2003 style. http://www.baseballprospectus.com/statisti...dp_rate2003.htm Jose had 96 DP opps and only hit into 9 DPs. In other words, he hit into a DP 9% of the time when given the opportunity. Konerko had 100 DP opps and hit into 28 of them. An atrocious 28% of the time! And accoring to the NETDP statistic, he was the worst batter to step up to the plate during DP situations, with a score of 14.97 In 2004, offensively, PK is only worth three more runs than Jose according to VORP (Value Over Replacement Player; think AAAA guy). Now, Paulie is 2nd in the AL in VORP for 1B, Jose is a respectable 5th. EQA wise, PK comes up with an impressive .302, around 4th for AL 1B. Jose brings around a .288 EQA, 4th best in the American League for SS. Maybe Jose is a little mroe valuable than you thought.

There's paulie Walnuts with those walks again.
That's exactly why I took them out and counted them as hits. But that's just being naive that every player would make no errors. One can only dream, no?

There's paulie Walnuts with those walks again.
That's EXACTLY what I was looking for. Mucho thanks.
