  1. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 7, 2015 -> 07:14 PM) Yes they do. Thats why even with the extremely high number of date rapes that take place especially on college campuses that very few are actual prosecuted. When its word against word with basically no evidence they get tossed. Its not hard to find the statistics behind rape and especially date rape. find it, b/c a lot of time the victims gets really embarrass on this and drops the charges.

QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 7, 2015 -> 05:52 PM) I can't believe Penny is willing to keep playing ball in the minors. Amazing how much these guys love playing pro ball. money.....
  3. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 7, 2015 -> 06:44 PM) They took her blood on sunday, not sure they would get anything other than the fact alcohol was ingested, unless there was video or photographic evidence of her passed out. they are talking blood to as a possible check of drugs in the systems. if drugs are found, then it will be up the people involve to determine what kind of drugs.....
  4. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 7, 2015 -> 06:06 PM) Huh? I was talking about the impending legal case. WIth alcohol and little to no physical evidence the cases almost always get thrown out. no they don't if the vic is claiming rape.
  5. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Aug 7, 2015 -> 05:41 PM) Sure it is. He represents a very visible organization and he is a very visible celebrity. Because of that, he is not in the same class of people that are so eloquently talking about their past hookups in this thread. Stop trying to compare the situations. They aren't the same, at all. and i am not even talking about that, show me where i said anything like that. i usually skip over that stuff. i am saying being judge and jury over something without know the whole truth is not something that most should be aware of. it is human nature to do that.
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 7, 2015 -> 03:19 PM) They also seem to get good nibbles on pitchers trying to recover their careers, which can be a life line to some cheap lottery tickets. maybe at the time of getting the pitchers, the sox didn't have one that was a AAA pitcher at the time. mostly AA and single A. they need to field a team. hence the old vets.
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 7, 2015 -> 06:36 PM) In Kane's case it is actually worse, because he has already put himself into multiple bad situations over the years. This isn't even his first time being the spotlight of a public incident. you are right, he may never learn. but this may be 2 totally different situations. kid needs to grow up.
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 7, 2015 -> 04:14 PM) It is like he is a high school kid, and needs someone to teach him about making good decisions. you got a point, but most times they will not learn until something like this.
  9. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 7, 2015 -> 04:11 PM) If they took her blood and there was alcohol and they dont find any signs of struggle or date rape drugs in Kane's house this is going to get thrown out regardless of what happened. I doubt there are any injuries on the girl that dictates rape. no it doesn't this is what i mean by someone who thinks they know the answers and is totally wrong. a women, regardless of age, regardless of sobriety, regardless of how much or howl little she has on, if she says no..... it mean NO!!! this has been taken to and backup all the way to the supreme courts.
  10. QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 7, 2015 -> 06:10 PM) Bottom line for me, even if he ran into someone falsely accusing him: Kane has power that goes beyond money. He will walk into a place and be the most interesting person in the room, people will want to go up and talk to him and want him to like him just because he is a great hockey player. Kane has decided to use that power to have sex with lots of random women at bars. Not once in a while, but continuously. And he may run into women who naively just think it's cool they ran into a hockey player, and as night goes along and it's clear he wants to have sex with them, it may make them very uncomfortable to say no. That's why Patrick Kane is not like your random stories at a bar. How long do any of us at Kanes age kept going to bars to try and meet women? Not going out with other groups of friends, but actually just trying to meet a stranger at a bar and hook up? The guys just a f***ing asshole. No matter what, he won't be anything more than that. whether he is guilty or not, how many guys would wish to be in that position to pick up a lady for the night. that even goes to married ones as well. that does not make him a arsehole but a man with raging hormones.... it is not anyone position to judge. i will wait for the proof of the courts to decide to further express myself.
  11. QUOTE (South Sider @ Aug 7, 2015 -> 03:41 PM) The point is that as a rich, high profile individual you become a target for someone to try and take advantage of when you agree to sex with a stranger. They know who you are, but you dont know them. As someone earlier said, as a person like Kane, you need to vet anyone who wants to become close with you be they friend or potential sex partner. We dont yet know what happened, but either way hes going to come out of this looking stupid. If he raped and its proven, felony. If he didnt, he looks dumb for getting mixed up with a scam artist. If he comes out of this he better quit drinking. I think the blackhawks would be within their right to request he attend AA and quit drinking. Its obvious that he, like all of us, become incredibly stupid when drunk. this to to dangerous for me to make any assumption. i will stick with the facts and let any so-called rumors go by with answering. this ability of social network can build its following. now for another part, social gatherings, this is how many people find their partners for life at these times and gatherings. again i just hope for the best. it is not going to be pretty.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 7, 2015 -> 03:31 PM) If that is the case, that is good news, because it means multiples of these guys are developing into major leaguers. as exciting as this org develop pitchers, yet, the hitters???? the sox does have assets to trade for players who can fix those holes.
  13. QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Aug 7, 2015 -> 02:26 PM) I don't think Abreu has the demeanor to be a big fighter. He seems like more of a lover than a fighter. The guys on the team I wouldn't want to f*** with would be Samardzija, Garcia and Flowers. i would add Avi to that list.
  14. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 7, 2015 -> 01:29 PM) In 2012 in a full minor league season tyler hit 9 HR. 2013, 500 PA season, 5 HR. 2014, season was cut short, was on pace for about 15 HR in a full season at Charlotte. 2015, 25 year old at Charlotte, 4 HR in 231 PA - on pace for about 9, although he got off to a slow start while recovering from injury. HR numbers from the minors don't translate directly but they're often instructive. He hits some HR on occasion but usually guys who hit 5-10 in most of their minor league seasons don't come to the big leagues and suddenly start hitting 15 without some additional chemical enhancement. I'd say that 15 HR might be something he could hit once or twice in his career if he had a long, successful big league career, but it seems like a stretch to expect him to come close to that very often. QUOTE (harkness @ Aug 7, 2015 -> 05:55 AM) Going by his minor league stats... he had one year where he hit 16 homers.. his batting avg has ranged from .245- .310 and that i my subtle point. with the idea of having a 3b who is a power hitter that many teams are looking for. so now it back to looking for a 3b man for next yr.
  15. QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Aug 7, 2015 -> 11:14 AM) I'm failing to see why this is a problem. What decade is it again? Do you really not think that nearly every professional athlete, musician or actor is not doing the exact same thing, even many of the married ones? If going to a bar and hooking up with a girl is a crime then lock us all up and throw away the key. while i totally agree with you, esp when a young man is hooking up or thinking of the big deed. there is still some uncertainty in this situation that none of us, knows. however with ref to tony's post, it is pov of having a higher ethical standard. but i will emphasize the fact that i keep using the young man phrase. the main reason, young men, regardless whether they have the world in their hands, the raging hormones causes men to go crazy and do stupid, illogical actions.
  16. QUOTE (harkness @ Aug 7, 2015 -> 04:36 AM) That seems about right. Really.... i thought about the avg.... but the power??? well that may put everything in a different light. thanks.

QUOTE (wsiskel @ Aug 7, 2015 -> 05:29 AM) More on Tago: http://dashboard.mlblogs.com/2015/08/06/da...-major-success/ "Former Dash right-hander Peter Tago mainly used a curveball as a secondary pitch during his first four years of professional baseball after being drafted by the Colorado Rockies in the supplemental first round, 47th overall, in 2010. However, upon arriving to White Sox Spring Training in February after being taken in the Triple-A phase of the Rule V Draft, Tago worked with Dash pitching coach J.R. Perdew and Kannapolis pitching coach Jose Bautista to develop a slider. The results have been staggering: During the four years Tago spent in the Colorado system, lefties bashed him to a .276/.406/.408 tune. However, across Kannapolis, Winston-Salem and Birmingham this season, left-handed batters have only hit .211/.302/.276. “It’s just an easier pitch for me to throw as far as secondary to lefties,” said Tago, who was promoted to Double-A Birmingham on July 25. “It’s hard and it’s not easy to pick up out of my hand as compared to when I was throwing a curveball previously in my career. “It’s based off the fastball – I can throw it with the same arm speed and same arm action as my fastball, and that is what gets the hitter to commit.” nice write up. great info you know, it would be great to get a great feelings on the coaches in the minors.

QUOTE (wsiskel @ Aug 7, 2015 -> 05:22 AM) It really is impressive and a huge organizational strength - top to bottom. Has as much to do with scouting and player dev. as it does luck. but with that success, i am getting very greedy and want to keep them all. it is going to be interesting off season.
  19. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Aug 7, 2015 -> 05:21 AM) But the point I'm trying to make, is that even if he is innocent, but it's proven they did have consensual sex, he still made a gigantic error in judgement, for the fact he got involved with a girl that was capable of creating a story like that. Was the drunken hook up worth it? THOSE are the "sacrifices" you have to make when you are a high profile star. You can't let yourself get into vulnerable situations when you have that much riding on it. You have to be smarter than that. He's a 26 year old adult, he's not a kid. That's the point I'm making, and why I'm extremely disappointed in Kane. i totally agree with this.... but there are past stories like this, the mike tyson situation comes to mind. well, all this is on their shoulder. many thanks.

QUOTE (wsiskel @ Aug 7, 2015 -> 05:11 AM) Barons RHP Peter Tago is a stud. 23 y/o former first-rounder of the Rockies in his last 10 games w/ Barons (and Dash): 17.1 IP, 9 H, 2 ER, 25 SO, 8 BB, 1.04 ERA, and 6 saves. another arm.... where and how does this team get all the luck for acquiring pitchers.

QUOTE (staxx @ Aug 7, 2015 -> 05:04 AM) Rodon/Fulmer/Adams/Montas/Danish/Guerrero/Lowry+Jay I absolutely love it. i hate to think of it, but i have a real nasty feeling some of those maybe trade bait for what this team needs.
  22. QUOTE (BigFinn @ Aug 6, 2015 -> 11:59 PM) Then you can use Micah Johnson as leadoff or in the two hole as your DH. Pickup Alexei's contract for next year, find a third baseman and right-fielder (you can use Avi in a trade for a third baseman). Now the 2016 team is starting to take shape. Back to catchers—one reason catching is at a premium is that there are more teams now than back in the 1960s. The same number of really good catchers have to be spread across 30 teams. The position is universally thin. i can see avi being moved to the dh role and another bat for rf. i know, what to do with adam laroche.
  23. QUOTE (harkness @ Aug 6, 2015 -> 11:38 PM) I like what I've seen from Saladino...he swings at strikes, is selective has a good swing. I'm hoping he is the answer at 3b... but that's a big need. Also if Avi can't be the guy we need another outfielder. Then there is LaRoche.. The thing is I don't think the Sox are that far away. can you envision him hitting something like 15 hrs and a avg of 270??
  24. QUOTE (SCCWS @ Aug 7, 2015 -> 12:04 AM) I agree but I would not switch this season. Sanchez's average is trending up and Saladino's is trending down. With each of them playing regularly, the Sox should get an idea of how their offense looks by Sept. I think each will settle around .240 hitters but Sanchez will be the better fielder and Saladino will have a little more speed and pop. Agree both cannot play regularly next year based on their offense so far. nice post, but for sanchez to reach 240, that will be ok with me. considering his avg this whole season. that means he had to have a great hitting streak to reach that avg. either way, i really like his future.

QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Aug 7, 2015 -> 02:53 AM) Great to see, so happy we didn't trade him for a rental bat (he would have been the most likely to go) and i would have had a real fit. a royal rant.
