QUOTE (Tex @ Jul 26, 2015 -> 04:30 PM) Good analysis. In the back of my mind is a belief that the organization remembers the terrible backlash after the "White Flag Trade" and has vowed not to repeat it. good point and i agree. but the difference is, the white flag was totally unexpected and there was a possibility of making the playoff. this time around, the fans are on board and it is virtually impossible, by the longest odds, to make the playoff. we are practically asking the fo to make a smart trade.

QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jul 26, 2015 -> 02:16 PM) What matters is the actual value of the player and not their organizational rating. For instance, the Sox #10 is Nolan Sanburn and the Dodgers #10 is Austin Barnes. I don't think too many people would argue against Barnes being more valuable than Sanburn. I have no problem taking the comp pick if the Sox do not get a good offer but bare in mind comp picks are years away from helping the ML club if they develop. Imo, the Sox will get at least one player that has more value than a comp pick. Pentecost has not played yet this year due his having a second surgery on his throwing shoulder. I'm hoping the Sox can manage a Samardzija for Barnes trade somehow. nice logic and breakdown.

QUOTE (spiderman @ Jul 26, 2015 -> 06:45 AM) One thing to remember; this has been a team that has consistently played below .500 ball throughout 90+ games; a winning streak against a Cleveland team (after losing 5 of 6 against good teams) does not (and should not) mean management should come to any irrational thoughts . yess.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 26, 2015 -> 07:06 AM) That's not overwhelmingly old. Saladino has always been a "solid" guy. Figured he'd be the utility guy before they signed Beckham. Then again, Beckham was predicted to be part of the next All-Decade team at second after his rookie year. So let's just sit back and enjoy the ride. excellent post. snarky with humor.... what is that called..... ummm either way, it was very funny.

QUOTE (spiderman @ Jul 26, 2015 -> 05:35 AM) Reality is that the Sox will get one decent prospect, and not a team's top 5, maybe not even top 10 within an organziation. That's not to say a 3B prospect couldnt't be a piece the White Sox eventually need, but there are no blue chips or sure things coming back; they should have seen the market for starting pitching and the reality of their own situation back in June or early July. nice post. that is the true story of the sox under the ownership they have...... always too late

QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Jul 26, 2015 -> 04:02 AM) I don't want to call myself a pessimist because I would be incredibly happy to see the Sox back in the playoffs. My doubt is there are a lot of teams vying for 2 spots and this year as a whole hasn't been a good indicator on them being a playoff team. My worst case scenario is that the front office doesn't want to trade off players such as Samardzja and we fell flat on our face the rest of the year. again the only way we as fans can see how the sox are performing is this past 3 games. we the fans hasn't seen the true sox team. for as happy as many may be, i still think the team needs to stay the course of trading.
-
QUOTE (spiderman @ Jul 26, 2015 -> 03:58 AM) They aren't trading their entire roster; you have to have a trading partner, and the only guys would be Samardzija, and maybe a reliever. Obviously, it's hard to compete if you trade Samardzija though. It's hard to see the White Sox making a run either way with this offense. I do think most people on this board are going to be upset by the return that they get for Samardzija so I don't know that trading him is a guarantee if they want to re-sign him (if they feel keeping him makes them a favorite). it all depends on reality or fantasy. i just like to gage it against hou's trade and what is value of a comp pick.

QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jul 26, 2015 -> 04:55 AM) Exactly. The Dodgers could have interest in Micah since Kendrick is a FA after the playoffs end. I'm sure the Sox would have interest in Barnes. at this stage...... i personally believe is the the team and org has holes. some of the ready prospects in the minors that needs to be moved should be moved, to help in trade pieces. they are all not going to play for the parent club. so use them as pieces to sweeten the plg to help make the trade.
-
QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jul 26, 2015 -> 01:57 AM) Watch it be Samardzija/Danks/Putnam for Barnes, Ethier and A ball pitcher. Edit: this should have been posted in the crazy trades thread. an excellent way to think outside the box.
-
the sox needs to stay the course they have committed to. trading whomever they can. this recent and surprising surge helps us fans and should boost the team internally. we as fans knew this was a good, to very good team. now it is showing why we thought so. the fans and everyone also witness the holes the team has and which must to be fixed.
-
either way, might as well find out what the sox has in EJ. a AAAA starter or a starter on the major league level. like this, they can proceed with that knowledge before next season starts.
-
QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jul 26, 2015 -> 02:50 AM) Just to add to speculation. I wonder if Micah Johnson would be used as part of a package in a trade for a 3B, SS or C. a very interesting thought there. with how sanchez been hitting since the asg and he provides very good defense..... i can see micah as an extra valuable asset.

QUOTE (mataipaepae @ Jul 25, 2015 -> 08:04 PM) Sometimes teams will do this to gain leverage on teams they are dealing with. Give us more type tactic. Why else make this public so quick. They want to know that team to know they will keep him so pay up. nice strategy ..... can backfire.

QUOTE (Whitey @ Jul 25, 2015 -> 03:09 PM) Hawk repels more viewers than he attracts and he is nationally despised. That is not good for a team struggling to engage their fans. Who do they replace him with? I don't know, but this is a big country and there are plenty of up and coming broadcasters. Also, calling my comment on Robin racist shows you are looking way too hard to play the race card... I am saying Robin is plain, boring, and brings nothing special to the table. That's what calling someone vanilla means. if you want to think so.

this team is soooo freaking bi-polar it drives me nuts.
-
this is on me, but to me, it proves that team had the makeup to do something good. it also proves that the fans were right in seeing it as well.

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 25, 2015 -> 03:00 PM) Lol, I actually had to shut that interview off it was so bad. Not only was he mumbling, but there were these long pauses. He literally seemed high or brain-dead. or nervousness

QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Jul 25, 2015 -> 03:48 PM) Don't forget good ole Lorenzo Barcelo. a blast from the past.... the only pitcher that someone made a point of saying, he had the hugest fingers that his hands was too big to throw some of the pitches. oops double post on the hands. and he threw too hard. the sox were trying to have him not to throw so hard. couldn't do it.
-
QUOTE (Whitey @ Jul 25, 2015 -> 02:35 PM) Winning aside, this team does not have any players that the fans can really get into. Their coach is vanilla as can be, and Hawk is polarizing to the point that most Sox fans cant stand listening to him. I'd love for some major changes to start happening... Fire Robin Replace Hawk and revamp TV broadcast Trade Shark, Robertson, and Sale (or Quintana) to load up on young offensive talent what do you want in the tv booth, cheech and chong??? vanilla ..... his results as a coach has nothing to do with this kind of racial insult to us the fans and to us who are minorities. give me a freaking break. hawk still have to sell a product that is absolute horrible and he as to make it enticing. how can you do that kind of selling everyday of the season?? for your others.... i will let other post on that.

QUOTE (Mike F. @ Jul 25, 2015 -> 02:42 PM) They had a "friendly meeting" Yeah...right... Why couldn't they have one of these "friendly meetings" 2 months ago when they were still in contention? I don't buy that BS for a second. i don't either, alexei wears his heart on his sleeves, as the cliche goes. something was bothering him.... yeah they might have had a mtg but who else were in the mtg... any additional players, and who were the sox reps in that mtg. thing needed to be cleared and i do believe that. but it was something altogether other than friendly.

QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 25, 2015 -> 02:52 PM) So what happens if the Sox win the next four and the Twins lose the next four? It probably won't happen, but point being, there are teams still in wait-and-see mode--or at least they should be. The Twins are the second wildcard at 8 over .500, playing the Yankees and Pirates next. The rest of the teams behind them are at .500 or worse. The Twins falling back to .500 would make the rest of the season extremely interesting for many teams, and possibly make the 2nd wildcard winner get in with 83 or 84 wins. I'm not saying the Sox should bank on going 39-29 to magically get in with 83 wins, but I'd probably want to wait until Thursday or Friday to trade Samardzija. Right now, a lot teams are watching what the Twins are doing. crazier things has happen.... everyone knows that. for me, commit to the trading. don't do has in past decisions waited too long to make a move. perfect example are at least these 2-Dayan Viciedo, Alex Rios. they should have been moved before they were moved. rushing prospects.... they are too early, making trades or moving players, they are way too late.

QUOTE (ChiSoxJon @ Jul 25, 2015 -> 02:25 PM) I saw our Sox want 4 young pieces for Shark, this is unrealistic but how about Garcy Sanchez, Eric Jagielo, Dustin Fowler, and Ty Hensley from NYY? Franchise C, starting 3B, a TJ battled starter/former high drat pick, and lefty hitting OF in high A/29th ranked prospect i was extremely glad someone woke me up on jageilo vs trey.... i can deal with that now. but getting 4 back in any shark trade.... wtf is the sox FO thinking. yanks i will still maintain what i said with a major chg... i drop jageilo and i would want sanchez-cat, wade-ss and scevedo-sp

well it is official, the dodgers front office has told puig that he will not be traded ..... http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2015/07/dodg...-trade-him.html

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jul 25, 2015 -> 05:50 AM) Way late to the party, but holy s*** was Jurassic World terrible. I mean, just so many awful things: plot points, acting (Pratt...wtf?), some of the dialogue and pacing.... D+. Would have gotten an F if not for some cool call backs to the original. JW really sucked for me.... the female lead bryce howard something.... horrible, horrible horrible. her sister the mother of the kids.... equally horrible. ending 2 train reptiles .... come on.
