Bleacher Report predicts 87-75 second wild card spot
LDF replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 31, 2015 -> 04:56 PM) They have him listed there because of Shark starting opening day. why, does shark and Soto have a special bound as a pitcher, catcher?? -
Mark Buehrle still a class act.....JB not so much

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Mar 31, 2015 -> 04:13 PM) I don't think so. A Sale, Samardzija (resigned), Quintana, and Rodon rotation is filthy. No way they go into a season with 4 lefties in my opinion. actually i was thinking when he b/c a FA. -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 31, 2015 -> 04:38 PM) I think you have Beckham Syndrome. If Viciedo were just the Blue Jay's failed prospect, no one would have a problem with bringing him in on a minor league deal. But because he is our failed prospect, somehow he is a complete lost cause. All you have to do is look at the reaction to bringing Kyle Drabek to see the difference. Drabek was a very highly rated prospect who has busted, hardcore. He has a major hole in his game, namely control, not to mention two major arm surgeries. But there was basically no opposition to the Sox claiming him on waivers. Sox fans have to take off those Sox colored glasses sometimes. you know, you may be right, but maybe he does not want a minor league contract.

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Mar 31, 2015 -> 04:33 PM) Why? If Something were to happened to LaRoche or Abreu, not saying Viciedo would be my #1 go to, but sure as hell better than Neftali Soto. He has at least proven he can hit 20+ home runs in the MLB. a pitch hitter, is a special kind of talent. they will need to put their aggressive hitting approach aside and try to hit for special situations. question, has DV proven to be that kind of hitter???

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 31, 2015 -> 03:59 PM) Honestly, I can't help but think maybe a trip to Charlotte would change his mind on the adjustments the team has been trying to get him to make for years. it is a waste..... the first yrs he listen to the coaches.... then he stop. why??? does he knows more than the coaches.... time to cut and run. i really hoped he saved his money.

QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 31, 2015 -> 03:03 PM) Dayan Viciedo is a free agent again. Have fun in Japan. and that me a reason he does not want a contract of anything but a guarantee mlb job.
-
QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Mar 31, 2015 -> 03:15 PM) I would definitely sign him to a minor league deal. unless he does not want to sign that contract.

QUOTE (LDF @ Mar 31, 2015 -> 03:57 PM) a toast with some sox kool aid, i am itching and dying to debate the BPA idea, but i will wait a couple more weeks. i would really like to see how the mock draft's will list the prospects.

QUOTE (Tex @ Mar 31, 2015 -> 12:51 PM) Do you believe that these guys went into SAE as racists or was it a result of being exposed to the racism and wanting to fit in? In other words, had they never joined that Fraternity would they still hold those views? you have to remember 1 thing, esp with me, i am a minority, i keep saying that b/c my point of view, my life experiences are way different than yours, and many other people. ex. i had a huge argument on this subject, personal point of view with a major players in the african american community, he, this person, later admitted i was right, but had a problem admitting it. b/c i was not african american. another point is, i was fired for 8 months b/c of the civil rights we were trying to establish and i got my job back, but i got it back by the federal labor board. so i really have a harsh opinion on civil rights and i wholeheartedly believe in that, the USA is not perfect but there are many rights that we in today's society have, b/c of this fight that was wage in the past, now i am retired and it still irks me, in today's age, their is still hatred based on race. nothing in life will ever be perfect, and i know this. here is a stupid event i did when i was healthy and young. believe me i done some crazy things, like when my lawyers and i, right after hurricane Rita, were coming down from the 4th floor of our town in city hall. now these racial white supremacy group were giving a hand symbol to me. now i got pissed, so i turn to my lawyers and said, let hit the town tonite, i want to pick up some white women and do the crazy thing, she never will want to go back to the white guys. my lawyers were shaking his head and laughing. true story, but you have to know 2 things, 1 i am half hispanic and the 2 i am half apache. so i can not keep my mouth shut even if i tried....... the challenge of a confrontation is too great. so back to your question, hatred, racial, religious or of any kind is a learned experience. societies and clubs, have a certain parameters and this club may have had a rep..... whether the school wanted to admit it or not. now, they have a right to org, to keep their agenda, but they do not have a right to force their point of views, their hatred on other by force of will.

a poster said, and i can't find the thread, that this yr draft has the makings of not be a good one. taking a look at it, depending on how the pro's describe it, i think it really nice in the top, lets say 10 picks. after that, well you can define it how you want. for me, there is a ton of really nice hs'ers that can, if they develop, as some expect, will be decent mlb'ers. superstar >>> well maybe not. but the kind of players that the big team needs to fill out a team. so with the sox picking at 8, for me, it would be a really suspenseful time, until draft day comes and goes.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Mar 31, 2015 -> 05:14 AM) He's touching 92 as a sophomore. That is impressive. I wonder about that elbow though. Kid has been throwing that plus curve since little league. Should be a Strasburg like prospect though. curve ball since little league. sssshhhheeesh i just don't understand it.
-
QUOTE (StRoostifer @ Mar 31, 2015 -> 05:08 AM) While that is a nice curve ball, I'd be kind of leery of a mid teen that's already throwing a CB and as often as he is. I kind of wonder if there's a correlation between the increase in TJ surgeries and teens throwing breaking balls more often. Not to sound old but even in HS the coaches didn't want pitchers throwing too many breaking balls, if any. i am from the old school esp without any medical support. so with the need to win, esp when someone is so young, teaching them different pitches, that is a recipe for disaster.

QUOTE (Jake @ Mar 31, 2015 -> 11:09 AM) In the context of an article that is all about how Buehrle doesn't like hazing, I don't see how that "f*** you" comment to the person who hazed him could be considered friendly how many times you or other have said that to friends in a conversation. this is how i sometime use to tease a friend, esp if we are debating something trivia -
QUOTE (Tex @ Mar 31, 2015 -> 10:13 AM) And I was stating the President probably has the authority, and should have. The buck has to stop somewhere and that is usually at the highest office in any organization. I do believe the decision may have been violated. Somehow one small point that I didn't think really amounted to anything became a focus, which it should not have been. Thank you for the apology, but it really isn't necessary and just is the nature of the medium we are using to communicate. If we had been talking and listening we would have zoomed past that in a couple seconds and realized we agreed on 99% of the issues. many thanks again. now for the important part.......

Petricka start season on the DL/ Beck to minors
LDF replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
opinions...... re Beck. how, in your own opinion, did Beck perform this spring? -
1 question. if Rodon come up and plays with the sox, either as a RP or SP. the sox keeps him on some sort of a pitch count, either way, would he still get fatigue?? i mean either mentally or physically, reason is, he still has yet have a full season of pro ball. just wondering.

QUOTE (Vance Law @ Mar 31, 2015 -> 03:21 AM) suffering from clinical pessimism i am going crazy over here. i just can't see why many are predicting a lower ranking than i. i must really be blind. that is the truth. i keep going over the roster and the sp and pen. i come up with a possible great season. -

QUOTE (ptatc @ Mar 31, 2015 -> 12:42 AM) I agree with LDF. JB was giving MB crap by saying get me a drink like the rookies had to do. MB was finally not a younger player so he got to tell him off. It's all fun and games. thanks ptatc. -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 30, 2015 -> 09:42 PM) We better not be picking #1 in 2017. i like it. quick thinking. well i meant the 2017 draft list can start with this profile.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 30, 2015 -> 05:46 PM) The only reason why I wouldn't be willing to take that gamble with a pick around #10 is if Coop said no. you got the wildcard there...... what does coop says.

this will be a great name to start collecting ..... many thanks.
