  1. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 2, 2015 -> 04:33 PM) I really hope Hawkins is 1. Not saying he will, but that would be great. considering how he fell out of favor and then redeemed himself. i can't wait for him and the rest of the prospect to start playing the way i think they will. yeessss
  2. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 2, 2015 -> 05:34 PM) All right, no calling him that until we change announcers. I was wondering what Harrelson had done to him and scared for a second. real nice.
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 2, 2015 -> 06:35 PM) In terms of a baseball salary, that is nothing. Even when you include all of the players making the $500k minimum in MLB, the average salary this year is $4.3 million. well, look at some players who made tall change and lost it all. either way, 1.5 is a nice little savings for him.
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 2, 2015 -> 06:22 PM) Scott Merkin ‏@scottmerkin 7m7 minutes ago Brian Anderson has officially been released by the White Sox well, i feel for him.
  5. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Apr 2, 2015 -> 06:21 PM) To me it was an easy decision at least on Penny because he had a disappointing spring. They want to see Drabek for a longer period of time, who has pretty good stuff, rather than exposing him to waivers again. niceeee , i forgot about Drabek. nice catch
  6. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 2, 2015 -> 04:09 PM) The Dodgers are paying players about $40 million to not play for the Dodgers next year. yeah and i agree, how bout Philly... they been trying to do the same but can't find any takers.
  7. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Apr 2, 2015 -> 02:33 PM) Why? If you have the money, you should spend it and use that resource to your advantage. And the Dodgers are going to be great to watch with Friedman running the ship, since one of the reasons they hired him was to bring an more economic sensibility to the franchise. i have no problem with that ...... well i lied. i do. but it is like the yanks of the 80's and 90's thinking that all they could do is spend the money to buy a ring.
  8. QUOTE (shipps @ Apr 2, 2015 -> 05:07 PM) If at the end of the season I look back and say to myself...damn that season sucked and didn't turn out how we thought it might then it wasn't a success. A win total or a playoff run doesnt have to define the success. I think they can have a successful season and not even make the playoffs to be honest. Be in the race until the end and just came up short but at the very least play hard, stay healthy, and have guys perform close to their projected numbers...with some development of young players along the way. many have made a lot of great sense. for me, with this team, i will consider a success if the sox makes the playoff. what ever happens in the playoff is a total new season. if this team bomb b/c of injuries, esp to key players, no one is to blame b/c the baseball gods didn't want the sox and the fans to be happy. if it was a close race at the end, there are some factors that may have went wrong, well, i will keep that to myself. now if there was some huge improvement in key prospects, a great draft..... at least i can look at that and be a little happy.. but the bottom line...... great baseball comes back to the side south.... yes.
  9. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Mar 22, 2015 -> 02:38 PM) Off the top of my head, I think it is $1.5 mill. A lot of guys this off-season signed similar minor league deals. i little nice chunk of change there.
  10. QUOTE (shysocks @ Apr 2, 2015 -> 05:19 PM) You didn't even mention the RIB HELMET? Rib Helmet ..... sounds nice. to me. i really missed the old stadium..... on the 3rd base line. there was a place that cook up some really great Italian Sausages, with beer cook green peppers and onions. ahh chi food at its best.
  11. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 2, 2015 -> 05:17 PM) Penny and Carroll have been reassigned to minor league camp. i for 1 is surprise at both. for Carroll, i was really hoping that he would make the team. i hope the best for him. for Penny, i owe the sox management an apology for now, i didn't they would have sent him down. now lets see how long he stays down or will he be back up in several weeks.
  12. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 2, 2015 -> 01:04 PM) Decidedly average, is the answer. But I can't really complain. Honestly, maybe I'm drinking the Kool-Aid, but I think the White Sox just make smarter business decisions than most teams. Chris Sale and Jose Abreu have two of the best contracts in baseball. http://deadspin.com/2015-payrolls-and-sala...dium=socialflow Team 2015 Payroll 1. Los Angeles Dodgers $272,789,040 2. New York Yankees $219,282,196 3. Boston Red Sox $187,407,202 4. Detroit Tigers $173,813,750 13. Chicago Cubs $119,006,885 15. Chicago White Sox $115,238,678 jeeze..... Dodgers.... now i really hope they bomb in their playoff attempt. anything over $170 mil. just crazy. i am really surprise at the sox. i really thought they spent more.... nice find.
  13. QUOTE (Señor Ding-Dong @ Apr 2, 2015 -> 04:13 AM) Better options for what? It's not like we're counting on him for anything. We're talking about a guy in AAA who we can call-up for a spot start or to be an extra bullpen arm if the need arises. I guess I don't even know what's being discussed at this point. I could understand the frustration if we had him penciled in the rotation, but that's not the case. This is a lot of consternation for a guy who will likely spend most of the season in Charlotte. i really enjoy a good life story.... Carroll provided it by trying to make the big league. well for me, i will still root for him, i really enjoy rooting for the underdog.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Apr 2, 2015 -> 02:52 AM) Mad Max:Fury Road looks insane man.... that was a wild clip. i may have to rethink of not seeing the movie. i didn't have faith the the movie was going to be good. i am glad i was wrong. nice find and thanks.
  15. QUOTE (beautox @ Apr 2, 2015 -> 09:40 AM) Personally I think the sox go Collegiate pitcher, and I'm very confident in whomever they select at 8. i am in total agreement. we as fans are the amateurs who really enjoy this part of the big entity called baseball. the pro's will have so much resource available and at their disposal to help make their choice easier. but at this yrs draft.... i just not sure if pitcher is the way to go. its is a long season to rethink the selection.
  16. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Apr 2, 2015 -> 04:51 AM) Protect him from what? His agent got him $10 million if he never makes the majors again. If he was a career minor leaguer, what would he make? Less than a million total? true, and i admit i misread what you wrote originally. i was referring to 2 way contracts.
  17. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Apr 1, 2015 -> 06:03 PM) Houston demotes Jon Singleton to AAA. That's why you can't criticize players for taking team friendly deals when real young. He could never make the majors again but will still be a heck of a lot richer had he not taken his deal. yeah but you can criticize his agent for not putting in a clause of some sort to protect him, in case of something like this or how the marlin owners screwed Mark B.
  18. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Apr 2, 2015 -> 01:26 AM) Thank you, thank you very much. I'll be here all week. damn.... now you ruin my freaking day.
  19. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Apr 2, 2015 -> 12:05 AM) By far the highest ceiling in the stsystem. I wouldnt put Fry before Micker because I see Fry as a reliever. he may well be, b/c the mlb having no faith in pitcher under 6'0 ft...... now if he was 6'3+ it would be a different story. fry sinker / slider lhp. when he was drafted by the sox, he was a 87-89 fb, curve and changeup with his best pitch is the changeup. now after last yr he ranges in the low 90's, talk is 93-91 fb. but he is still a generous 6'0 ft tall. but he does know how to pitch and in different situations. i like what i read..... but... well i already stated my but... so i won't belabor the point.
  20. QUOTE (StRoostifer @ Apr 1, 2015 -> 10:15 PM) I'm thinking more along the lines of when the Sox insert Sale into the rotation, that will be the order for the rest of the season. Unless an injury happens or Noesi/Danks struggle in which Rodon comes into the picture. I get what you're saying though. Its not like every team in every series will see all three lefties. Thought I had read Sale was going to have another start on Monday which would put him in line for his next start being the 11th. Don't get me wrong, not trying to argue. Just explaining where I'm coming from, I could be way the hell off for all I know. the baseball org usually redo the rotation when there is a break in the schedule, of at all, or at the all star break.
  21. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 1, 2015 -> 09:11 PM) If Montas and/or Danish take the next step/s, they're banging on the door already of Top 100 MilB prospect-hood. You've got guys like Trey M. and Engel/May with some interesting tool sets. And, of course, Tim Anderson goes into the season with a lot to prove defensively...with a possible position change on the horizon. Mr. Courtney Hawkins, this is your year to shine. If Hawkins, Barnum and Adolfo all impress, that will be the first time three legit power hitting prospects (and no, guys like Andy Wilkins weren't true prospects)...have been found (together) in our system in ages, not to mention interesting bats like Thompson and Matt Davidson with the possibility of a late surprise. nice ...... real nice.
  22. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Apr 1, 2015 -> 04:58 PM) I was going to say that. I think the top ten prospects in 2016 will be headlined by Adams, Adolfo and whoever they draft at 8 this year. I do think Martinez is a sure fire top ten prospect next year, I have him at thay 10 to 15 range. Alfaro and Nunez will be ranked as well but I dont know about top ten. I really like last year's international signing class. You heard it here, Micker Adolfo will be one of the best prospects in all of bsseball in due time. i will very much include Fry, before i see Adolfo get higher in the rank. that is unless Mickler comes out hitting. he is what 18..... no need to add anymore pressure on him.
  23. QUOTE (Señor Ding-Dong @ Apr 1, 2015 -> 04:41 PM) That's Micker Adolfo. His raw tools, like his power, is the reason he's been showing up on our top prospects lists pretty much since the moment we signed him. before i admit to that, i need to see some of those result of hrs.
  24. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Apr 1, 2015 -> 09:11 PM) I'm the complete opposite. Sox could have (assuming Shark signs extension) 4 starters with at least 5 years of control. Ones could stay the 5th starter while one of them develop for a year or two. with no intentions of being rude, but lets deal with certiancy, not what if or could be. Jeff S signing is not for this discussion.
  25. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Apr 1, 2015 -> 09:02 PM) If Aiken and/or Matuella are there for the Sox at 8 I will be ecstatic. Sorry to hear about both of them regardless, it sucks. i was planning on this later in the season, but now that Matuella is out, and it has probably been a while ago, he has missed at least a week, but i would not chance by taking them. they are talented pitchers and i really feel for them, their dreams coming to this. but there is 1 troublesome problem they both have that concerns me. that is genetic disorders and how will they respond to rehab, can it be repaired or fixed.... i am sure there are many more valid points that someone who is smarter than i can raise. but at #8, the sox should pick a healthy player.
