QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Apr 6, 2015 -> 06:47 PM) And then the pay gets even higher with even better benefits because they will HAVE to in order to attract people to do the job. As for the cars, they still do that. And the beater comment was perhaps confused with the jerks guy wanting them to drive crap. And please note I didn't disagree with you entirely. There are many abuses in the system. Vehicle and other confiscation just being one of them. Using swat teams and no-knock raids to deliver non-violent warrants is another. There are many. this will be my last statement.... at least for today. there are many faults in everything. is there a 1 fix all....... no. will the problem that is happening in lets say for this discussion, Calif be the same that is happen in a city in the Wy state. no. they all need to be address individually, peace. i am leaving to the sports bar to catch some ball. if i am not too drunk. i may be back tonite.

QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Apr 6, 2015 -> 03:47 PM) I wonder if Aiken skips the draft this year and comes back later. He could go to a four year college and be a draft eligible sophomore, rehabbing his arm, and building himself back up to #1 overall. He had $4M on that table last year that he walked away from, so he may not want to jump for less than that. i just don't know, i think he is just dropping only a couple spots. still will be gone at #8. this is according to the mock draft.

QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Apr 6, 2015 -> 05:35 PM) Somewhat related - the top 40 International bonuses of 2014: http://www.baseballamerica.com/internation...l-bonuses-2014/ White Sox: T-20 - Amado Nunez - SS - $900K T-27 - Jhoandro Alfaro - C -$750K T-27 - Ricardo Mota - SS - $750K The Sox tied the Astros and Rockies for second place having three guys on the list, the Yankees were far and away number one signing 12 of the top 40. nice that the SS and catching position are being address. -
excellent and classy.

QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Apr 6, 2015 -> 05:57 PM) That's a valid question, when is enough enough. But you don't want them driving beaters that break down when they are on the way to try and stop someone breaking into your house, do you? The over militarization of the police and the blatant abuses that occur with seizures in a lot of cases are very good topics to discuss. But saying that they should just go police because they WANT to? How f***ing absurd is that? As for the writing moving violations and letting the dealers get away, sounds like a conservative argument there, enforce the laws you currently have. you my friend are trying to rewrite what i wrote to make some points or to make your statement a valid one. cops were always people who wanted to help or make a point in doing right, that is also most prevalent when lawyers calls cops in and in trial questioning their integrity. now i will not use my own opinion to color all the PO dept's in the country a certain color, or accuse them of abusing their position. 10-15 yrs ago, the cops were using cars that were confiscated for 1 violation or another. they were in turn put thru a complete maintenance overall. so this beater or dilapidated condition, cars, esp for undercover are redone mechanically. come on, pls don't try to assume i am ignorant, i do not know what you are talking about, your point is beyond common sense. and if the cops will spend more time patrolling and doing their jobs instead of 10-15 cops at a time going for lunch or breakfast or mtg in a parking lot to discuss BS. work, to protect the citizens, if you do not want to put your life on the line......... QUIT ... go and become a priest or find a less hazardous job.

QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Apr 6, 2015 -> 01:48 PM) That they should do it because it is a good thing to do, and not a paycheck. in the old times, the mentality was the cops were underpaid, more stress and least appreciated until someone needs them. my brother was a cop until he died on xmas day 1999. so i come from a cop family. i am divided with this, at what point does it become necessary for them to get new yrly patrol cars and suv's, the police is suppose to be about keeping the street safe, but writing moving violations and letting the drug dealers get away. i know this for a fact, some patrols will avoid the risky area, b/c they claim they don't get paid enuf to risk their lives. but they sure loves driving in the new police vehicles.

QUOTE (oneofthemikes @ Apr 6, 2015 -> 12:57 PM) I wish Tucker was climbing draft boards a bit faster. I don't think his stock will realistically move him up to where the Sox will take a shot at him. He is definitely my favorite player on the board. He's the exact type of player that teams should be looking at. He's arguably plus or better at everything except power and I'm willing to bet he's going to grow into that too. Somebody is going to get a steal with this kid. Edit: I tweeted Jim Callis to see if Tucker is climbing and yes, yes he is. Jim Callis @jimcallisMLB 9m9 minutes ago Yes, could go top 5-10 picks @OneOfTheMikes: Any idea if Kyle Tucker might be moving up draft boards? If so, how high could he go? @MLBDraft great news.... i was still hoping he would be in the low first rnd when draft day happens. then draft him at 8 and slot him for the money. a great buy low. i am looking at this draft with this idea. this maybe the last time the sox draft in the top 10. so draft the player that would not have been there in the early 20's. that pick as i alluded to, may be the last pick early so get a great player. if the college pitchers are not there in cluding Aikens, and swanson is gone, get tucker. this will give the sox a natural 3 - 4 yrs of develop time and he can lead the next wave of young players. the older players contracts will be coming to an end. a win / win situation.

QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Apr 6, 2015 -> 02:37 PM) I have no clue who you are, but that is the single most idiotic thing I have ever read on these boards. which part, the poverty of the inner calling.

Had us beating Blue Jays and Mariners on our way to the Series. i like that a lot. first nat'l sport company saying something nice about the sox. now to make this dream come true.

QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Apr 5, 2015 -> 07:54 PM) That's a good start. I also think that no way should PDs have nice cars. They should have all the leftover worn-out crap with a mechanic maintaining the fleet. Chargers? Tricked-out Tahoes? GMAB. They should have to beg the community for resources and we should all vote. I also think it would be a nice touch if at the end of every interaction with a cop the cop would have to say "thank you for paying my salary. I gave up on all my hopes and dreams and so I'm just thankful every minute to have a job supporting the community and to not have to fight for a piece of the pie in the economy like the rest of you. If there's anything you need, like your grass mowed or your trash cans rinsed out here's my business card." I know that was over the top but the biggest problem to me is the entitled "lords of the community" tough-guy attitude that surrounds cops like a stench. Easy boys, we can sign the papers any day we like to head to the academy but we all don't want a free ride. Be appreciative to your community instead of acting like you're in charge of the s*** we pay for. radical thinking...... i love it. in my community.... those so called privilege cops eats breakfast with us, me, my cuz and 7 other apache's. we really give it to them... i still don't know why they still come to eat with us. weird.

if this team goes on a 6-o streak to start the season. i am going to be a royal pain. i just know it.

QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Apr 5, 2015 -> 08:43 PM) I agree that the pen is thin enough that it will likely need periodic boosts throughout the season. I don't see a role for Surkamp or Cleto, but I still have hope that Webb can find it in Charlotte and contribute this season. And in addition to potential boosts from Crain and/or Jones, here's hoping that a Sanburn, Ynoa, Montas, or some other power arm in the system can be a second half surprise. Drabek's stint will likely amount to a brief audition unless Coop & Co. really see something - it may end with Petricka's return. Of course, there was a lot of transition in the 2005 pen, with Cotts and Politte being the main full-season foundation. With a little luck, it can work out nicely this year too. i know i am being overly positive here, but this group can get over the hump this yr, and in decent shape, with the playoff and such. next yr and the yr after, that pen is going to look tough. i really have high hopes. i really love the 2005 comparison.

That slut stew sounds delicious!! you like that.... well good for you. i can't stomach it. the burnt roux mixed with burnt cajun spices.... it if not for me. but i am sure, these cajuns will have a hard time eating some real traditional mexican food.

i did a joke on my god children last night and today. i worked it with my friend and his wife. i was coming over around 9 pm and softly hit the windows and the outside wall. they woke up and got my friend and his wife who was pretending to be sleeping. they all look around and found nothing. now this morning they went to church and my friend was saying the kids were disappointed on not getting anything. so i left church a little early went to their house and drop off the easter basket and presents. now we went to eat and i came home. my friend called me and the kids were really tired but was sooo surprise that the easter bunny came. oh i left a old bottle of an empty rum bottle, asking if they would fill it for next yr for me. so my friend told his kids that the bunny prob was drunk last nite and fell to sleep. ahhh kids and their wild imagination. i can't wait to see what stories they are going to make up from this.

QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Apr 5, 2015 -> 07:17 PM) Sadly, though, anyone else we could run out as the last reliever is worthless (Surkamp, Webb, Cleto, etc.). We have an incredibly thin bullpen, and we need to pray Crain somehow gets healthy and that Jones can return for the playoff run. i think our bull pen will be ok. they are young, but i think they have the makings of developing into something useful. the problem is they are being put right into the firing line. b/c the team does not have quality core to start with. these should, imo have had another yr of grooming last yr. but oh well, i stop here. they just need to learn on the fly, and in the fire.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 5, 2015 -> 07:13 PM) I hope they see something that is correctible, because he seems pretty worthless. And speaking of worthless, thank God for Worth, IL. Without it the entire state would be worthless. that was as worthless of a comment that was needed.

QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Apr 5, 2015 -> 07:19 PM) Yea man that's how i look at it. I think the monster is at its best now. I always got the impression that KW rubbed some other GMs the wrong way. I'm glad Rick is in the trenches now- baseball seems to really like him. But who really knows. oh, i never seen you this hype..... it is contagious.

QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Apr 5, 2015 -> 06:57 PM) How do you actually get them to give you a carnitas taco? It seems like every time I go there, it's "we're out". One time I ordered carnitas and got carne asada. Is it because I'm a gringo? hell yeah, you don't know what when it comes to ordering. but in all seriousness at least yous guys are enjoying good food, i just came back from my friends family outing. my 2 god children were there. so i figure what the hay. they had, check this out, a pot of communal seafood gumbo. that is traditional gumbo with rice and sausage, with all type of seafood into a big arse pot. in there they threw gator, catfish, shrimp and turtle. served with a bowl of potato salad. ugh.... i tried it. i just couldn't eat the darn thing.

QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Apr 5, 2015 -> 06:04 PM) Nice post. Hahn unloads 4 guys for a 1 year rental and somehow that is an about-face for White Sox GMing. Yea thankfully KW isn't still the GM ?. Chris Sale, Quintana & Abreu are basically the reasons we did what we did this offseason. If these are such different GM styles, then who gets credit for those moves? Can't slam the FO for Gio & Swisher and then attribute the CFS, JFQ & JMFA moves to good luck. then how bout attributing is to the luck of the 3 major players calling the shot at the sox FO. JR, KW, and Hahn, each adding their little in the pot. like getting the right spices for a great dish. each being important as the other.

QUOTE (ptatc @ Apr 3, 2015 -> 02:23 PM) It's not the innings, it's the intensity of the innings he tries to throw too hard too often He is one pitcher you always read about "still throwing 98 in the 8th inning." This is the type of thing that wears a pitcher down. In the past there have been discussions of pitchers hsving down years after long playoff runs. It's not the extra innigs, although it could be for some, it's the I tensity of the postseason innings after the grind of the regular season. It's like sprinting the last 365 yards after the first 26 miles of a marathon. The pitchers need to do it because the competition is better but it is hard on them physically. and i agree with you on the most part. btw, i know i would be really foolish in discussing medical ideology with you pertaining to pitchers, so i will say, i took him to be another freak of nature, pretty much like Randy Johnson. didn't threw constantly hard in almost all games until he retired? then there are other pitchers who will need surgery b/c their arm can't take that strain.

QUOTE (beautox @ Apr 5, 2015 -> 01:48 PM) I like the comp of Furcal for Swanson. I would be ok with the sox taking him at 8, he appears as if he will be able to move rather quickly especially if in this system and that would afford the sox the ability to move Anderson mid season if there are possible major upgrade(s) to be had. after rethinking what you wrote, it may not be a bad idea, get Swanson, and if Anderson stumbles, put Swanson at SS. i wonder if Anderson can play 3b??

QUOTE (LDF @ Apr 5, 2015 -> 12:27 PM) 2 more new mock draft.... i think these do show the results of the injured pitchers. https://mlbdraftcountdown.wordpress.com/201...draft-4-1-4615/ http://sbb.scout.com/story/1534142-2015-mlb-draft-mock-2-0 this is the 3 or 4 th time i see Greg Pickett - of, being picked by the sox. can someone pls explain why?? am i missing something?? i mean over the weekend i am reading on blogs that he may be rising. but to #8??

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 5, 2015 -> 02:59 PM) Perception is different from reality. KW trades prospects that is perceived as ruining the system even though the prospects traded never turn into anything. Comimg off a 73 win season, Hahn trades 4 prospects for a potential 1 year rental. That is praised, but it is a total KW-like move. I am not trying to praise KW, he had his flaws, and as I stated I would love to see Hahn run his own show. But as was stated in previous posts, the titles and responsibilities have changed a bit, but the same people are making decisions. you make a good point and unless the fans has ears in those internal mtg, everything is based on a opinion. first kw would never had the ability to work with Rodon agent. those draft picks, while some may say kw could have made those draft picks, I am basing his success on how many yrs of draft results. i am not trying to tear down kw, ummm success, but i rather keep depending on Hahn short success. next KW trades of what ever kind of prospects the system had, it would have been a different story, if KW had actually did better then..... what ever you called his draft success. it was a win/win situation. sox got rid of a less than idea prospect for something now to use. if his draft results were better, then maybe those other trades wouldn't have been needed.
