  1. QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 27, 2015 -> 04:32 PM) I'm just looking forward to his 33 starts, and hopefully some postseason baseball. If he signs before November, it's gravy. i totally agree with you...... come Nov, what ever happens, happens. where is the time of a player going to a club he thinks will win it all.
  2. QUOTE (bmags @ Mar 27, 2015 -> 04:14 PM) I am taking the train, however, grills are difficult to bring on the CTA.
  3. QUOTE (Mike F. @ Mar 27, 2015 -> 04:30 PM) I love Nate Jones. I hope he recovers and makes a contribution to this team. He could make a big difference if he's healthy. all i have to say, if Jones comes back as expected, then Cain, and all the prospects, this system will have THE Strongest pen in the entire MLB. not to get the baseball gods pissed.
  4. QUOTE (staxx @ Mar 27, 2015 -> 04:03 PM) I doubt it, there are ways to strengthen tendons/ligaments through strength training that have been shown in research. Also, he could have easily strengthened the muscles around it. but i am still a little lost on this medical info. adding to the ligament, in other words, making it bigger, will secure or strengthen the area. making it more secure or strengthen, is that the same thing??
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 27, 2015 -> 03:58 PM) Paul Sullivan ‏@PWSullivan 2h2 hours ago Samardzija said he's not looking for "top dollar'' in his next contract. http://fw.to/0ScHz5X that was the impression that he gave before.
  6. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Mar 27, 2015 -> 04:53 PM) i get that they looked extremely bad in the process of what happened, all I am replying to is LDF saying that Houston needs to come out and say something. There really isnt anything they need to say anymore, they already took their PR hit. "We wish Brady the best in his future endeavors" 6 months ago is really all that needed to be said. Saying anything right now just looks like rubbing it in and makes them look worse. i may have given you the wrong impression with my post. i am sorry, what i was intending to convey is all it would take is for Hou to come and tell everyone "see we told you so" it would be great for Hou not to say anything at all, even if asked by reporters. take the high road. i truly believe no-one on this site will wish evil on players careers, on this site. ...... well, i may be the only one, but that is for a other post.
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 27, 2015 -> 03:48 PM) Tickets? just like the old days. since i have been gone for something like 8-9 yrs, how have the opener been like, re tickets
  8. QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 27, 2015 -> 03:39 PM) Morosi is a troll http://www.foxsports.com/mlb/story/chicago...s-bryant-032715 "one of the best arm in the system" i wonder if Q, Jeff S will have anything to say about that. this writer took the last game Rodon pitched and embellish on it.
  9. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Mar 27, 2015 -> 03:23 PM) Going over this made me feel even better than I did before. Aside from Semien, we really lost nothing of substantial consequence. It was straight upgrades all over the board. I don't know if this year will be the year, but I'll be damned if I thought we'd be able to get this much better this fast while mortgaging so little of the future. i like the post and yeah, they the sox FO deserve a lot of credit for the work, the good work they did to revamp this team. it is great talking positively about the sox. danm i wish i was back in chi, i most definitely have invested in season tickets. of all the players we lost, as you said, i will miss the The Hound (Bassitt).
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 27, 2015 -> 03:52 PM) [/b] All depends on how well he responds to surgery. Ask Gavin Floyd what TJ has done for him. interesting point of view. now it seems as it is a forgone conclusion that the pitcher will come back the same or better. i remember, the industry was unsure of those pitchers, b/c it was relatively a new idea, without a history of results. those results, since then has been very positive, but it is not 100% fix all. look at some pitchers needing to get a 2nd procedure, and as you said, look at G. Floyd. nice post you made.
  11. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Mar 27, 2015 -> 12:58 PM) It's risky for a contender to have John Danks and Hector Noesi in the rotation. Rodon still has things to work on but there's no doubt in my mind that he's already our 4th best starter. in so with all due respect yes, very much so. but Danks contract, imo was deserved and then got hurt. if the sox had replacement in the wings, then let the owners release him and eat the money, then bring him in the org somehow. Hector, i would like to see how he does, he deserve this yr, the way he rebounded and perform last yr. this club is a playoff contender but the team doesn't have those extra players to plug in.
  12. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Mar 27, 2015 -> 02:08 PM) bump because here's a new one http://m.mlb.com/cws/video/topic/9105476/v...;adbpr=53197137 now that is the kind of commercial i am talking about. edgy, innovate, and create a little excitement. well least for me.
  13. nice read. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2015/03/offs...Trade+Rumors%29
  14. QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 27, 2015 -> 04:26 AM) I would be shocked if Sox take him. I think they'll take someone closer to the majors well, according to MLB rumors, this morning, some suspicion of Bos may take the chance to draft him at #7.
  15. QUOTE (staxx @ Mar 27, 2015 -> 04:14 AM) Well, the small ligament issue is a null point right now since he had the tommy john surgery. It all depends on what tendon they used and whether it was an allograft/autograft. You're likely looking at a typical TJ timeframe/prognosis, but I could be wrong. many thanks, so in other words, they can replace the small ligament with, what i am understanding a bigger one, interesting.
  16. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Mar 27, 2015 -> 04:28 AM) Sox fans=Not fooled by snazzy marketing campaigns One thing matters. First place, and looking like you can make a legit run into the post-season. but i keying on those fair weather fans, those fans that sit on the post. the real fans, as you said, will not need any fancy crap to entice them to come out.
  17. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Mar 27, 2015 -> 01:17 AM) I don't see how the hit they took last year applies now, since the concerns they had with his elbow proved out and he is now having TJS. They don't have to say anything, there is no road that needs to be taken high or low. They saw something, it worried them, they lowballed the player, he refused the deal and bet on himself. Unfortunately he lost his bet and Houston looks better for letting him walk away. a cold hard look at reality.... i like it. i guess my dislike for Hou and how they do things is skewing my opinion. thanks
  18. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Mar 27, 2015 -> 03:16 AM) Well this goes back to my scenario from a couple months ago that many on the board weren't down with. I would draft Aiken. If he chooses not to sign, White Sox could potentially have 3 1st round picks in 2016. Either you put Aiken into your farm system or you get to load up like crazy next year. i like this idea, alot. but i hate to be a killjoy, this pick may be worth something to help the team, the major league team. ~~~ edit, how is next yr draft
  19. QUOTE (Bruce_Blixton @ Mar 27, 2015 -> 01:46 AM) From that list I'd go with Matuella, Bickford, a toss up between Kirby and Aiken and then I'd go with Buehler and even Funkhouser before Allard and Fullmer. Don't really like the size of Fulmer, he could light it up like Stroman but I'd feel more comfortable is the Sox took someone with a bigger frame and more projectability. As to the original question posed regarding Aiken, I wouldn't choose Aiken unless he gives us a steep discount which I think is extremely unlikely to happen. I'd rather take someone that has a clean history and similar projectability than someone coming off of TJ surgery, but I'm skeptical of the conventional wisdom that TJ surgery is some kind of cure-all for pitchers. nice post, my concerns with Matuella is medical, pretty much like Aiken was last week. a very good point about the TJ cure all comment.
  20. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 27, 2015 -> 02:08 AM) Possibly because the Sox could be signing advertising contracts for the season during the offseason based on interest levels. i never thought of that, quite possibly true. however, i would like to think the real reason, the sox spent money and went out and totally revamp the whole lineup and roster. improving the product that will take the field. another thing which is more obvious is Jose A. now if they can create some really great commercials.
  21. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Mar 27, 2015 -> 01:16 AM) Houston doesn't have to spin anything. They were worried about his elbow and they were proven correct to worry. They have had nothing to do with him Hou took a huge hit at the time, i guess if they want to not take the high road, they can say in 1 statement, " we had some concerns" or "we told you so"
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 27, 2015 -> 01:12 AM) If we could get him for underslot, I'd do it. at #8, Aiken (after surgery), Kirby, Allard, Matuella, Bickford, or Fullmer. who still has the higher upside??
  23. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 27, 2015 -> 01:11 AM) There is also a very real chance that because he has been away from the game and real training staff's since the middle of last summer, he hurt himself in a million different ways, such as trying to prove to everyone that he was worthy of still being the #1 pick. another good one, i guess this goes to show how the media will take this and run with the excuses for and against. good job.
  24. all the fans who are sox fan and not, knows of the improvement of the team. now, overall, i am still stoke on the players. however, reading about the final 2 spots on the bullpen, can that derail this team?? i mean, i am trying hard to really find a fault in which the soxs needs to address, now we all know Penny, is not a factor imo. but the backend of the pen.
  25. let me say it this way, either way, the stats in which the Forbes uses, will still show an improvement in fan attendance regardless of the win-lost record.
