QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jan 23, 2015 -> 05:18 PM) In my opinion, if Scott Carroll starts a game for the 2015 White Sox, something went terribly wrong. well the sox are not going out to get anymore quality arms and are hoping for some reclamation projected player. they shouldn't even pencil in Rodon in unless it is guarantee that he will and can perform well enuf. so who else is there. Beck, Erik Johnson, who..... this team is still thin.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 23, 2015 -> 04:39 PM) They have always been smart about that. They very rarely use the start skip, unless it is to rest someone. While they believe in higher pitch counts during games, they seem to be smart about managing the total innings over a year, and how hard a pitcher works over a period of time. To me, its seemed like it works because they have been remarkably healthy over the last decade plus. that is why having a pitcher like Carroll will come in. while he is not #1-3/4 kind of a pitcher, he will provide innings and keep the team in the game. that is what i am looking for in Danks and Hector.

QUOTE (ptatc @ Jan 23, 2015 -> 04:33 PM) If the Sox are smart they don't skip anyone and give Sale and Q who have been shown to tire at the end of the season more rest early on. With the hope of playoffs this year the Sox may want to decrease the starts a little. i have been complaining about this the whole offseason. what are the backup plans for pitchers who never had a full season without injury, now have to have extra innings to pitch b/c of the playoff. that is why i been spouting off on a 6 man rotation to rest the main pitchers. all this crap of, well the pitchers know how important playoff are and will dig deeper. that is bull if their whole resources are spent.

QUOTE (scs787 @ Jan 23, 2015 -> 04:25 PM) I got onto many a "arguements" here a few months ago about payroll, a lot of people here said there was no way payroll would excessed even 90 mill. Here we are at what 115? and people are disappointed? C'mon now. Theres nothing I can complain about in the slightest. oh come on, you know me, the glass is always half full. even when it is overflowing over the rim.

QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Jan 23, 2015 -> 06:11 PM) So hand breaded pork tenderloin sandwich or personal pan pizza for lunch? go to mexican town and pick up some taco of barbacoa, a half dozen tamales and 1 can of coke. don't want to fill up on soda.

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jan 23, 2015 -> 05:00 PM) And for the record, your English may be "broken", as some might call it, but I can understand what you're trying to say just fine. So...your English is fine. It's probably better than a lot of Americans. now back to my favorite 2 subjects.... food and sox baseball. yessss.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 23, 2015 -> 05:00 PM) Its not a problem, type how you want to type. If you want, just type your sentences and dont worry about the width and let the site format it when you post i didn't know it does that..... these new confounded new machine that is called computers.

i keep on thinking that there are several things that are outside his control that is affecting the game plan. one is the Rose question mark. meaning which Rose will show up, the mvp Rose or the not MVP. the other is i am sure he wants to be GM and he is given this group of players. are they the players he really want???

QUOTE (Tex @ Jan 23, 2015 -> 02:21 PM) Possibly not as much for Mexico, but definitely for the US. I'm interested why so many people dismiss the entire southwest US as being unimportant to our development. The wealth that we gained from that war was huge. It was the second largest landmass that we added after the LA Purchase. Our west coast would be a sliver up in Oregon. The western border would have been Kansas. That's a huge change for the US. being a smartarse and also being apache indian. i think the whole US is the largest landmass you white people got.

QUOTE (shipps @ Jan 23, 2015 -> 04:50 PM) This explains it then. Its a a little bit difficult to understand or read some of your posts because of it but its not a big deal. oh man i feel like shvvt now b/c all this time i thought i was suppose to be easier reading. sorry....

QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Jan 23, 2015 -> 05:47 PM) Didn't know that I "pegged" anything - pretty sure I did not. But Rizzo has been inconsistent. Abreu has been nothing but awesome - in Cuba, and in MLB, despite seeing every pitcher here for the first-ever time (pitcher's advantage), playing a much longer season in terms of games and months, nursing injuries much of the time (undoubtedly playing hurt for some of it), losing a ton of weight to transform himself into a 162 game player for the future, and, oh yeah, defecting and adjusting to a whole new world where he doesn't speak the language. No comparison, imo, when all is considered. and you forgot adjusting to the cold freaking chicago weather. i remember last yr he wasn't wearing a coat or jacket when signing autograph and talking pictures. i bet he was freezing.

QUOTE (shipps @ Jan 23, 2015 -> 04:42 PM) Not your english. Its the format of words that you are posting. ohhh all this time i thought it was my english, or lack of. the problem is, with my screen on my laptop, i can't judge the widths and i do not want the sentence to continue in length. so i try to control it for what i thought would be easier reading for you guys. if this was a problem, i wish it would have been brought up sooner. i would have worked on it sooner. so this is not easier reading???

this season is going to be what it is going to be. i hope everything turns out ok. next yr with 2 first rounders and some interesting FA, it is gong to be really interesting on how the bulls will address these holes.

QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Jan 23, 2015 -> 04:29 PM) I'd like to point out that Webb's mother passed away during last year's ST. No imagining how that can affect a young man. I believe that Lexi's bad '13 was not unrelated to personal issues either, and he was an established big-leaguer already. I think he has plenty of talent - time for him to step up. thank you.

QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Jan 23, 2015 -> 03:55 PM) I say sign a bunch of guys on the cheap and go for Moncada. IMO if this was me, i would sign all i can either this yr or next. i would sacrifice the ability to sign anymore for a period if it can really jumpstart the system. we need players / prospects. look at what the yanks did and the reason, to put viable prospect in the systems.

QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Jan 23, 2015 -> 04:17 PM) Actually, Rizzo was lousy in his initial callup in '11, then excellent for his first half season with the Cubs in '12, then had a pretty mediocre '13, followed by an excellent 2014. More of a SF Giants pattern, and it's an "odd" year. Abreu has already made the adjustments. He was late 90's Sosa in the 1st half and vintage Joey Votto in the 2nd when pitchers stopped giving him anything to hit. He's a special hitter. Rizzo is a good hitter. it is b/c of Jose A and the excitement of him as a player that got me really pump on this group of sox players and team.

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jan 23, 2015 -> 03:26 PM) I don't mean the way you use the language -- I can understand you just fine. It's the way you format things. In other words, what I mean is why do you write things like this? When it should be: In other words, what I mean is why do you write things like this? let me get this right, are you talking about my english or the length of my sentences???

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 23, 2015 -> 04:01 PM) Could it be the device he is using? I've wondered the same thing... b/c english composition and sentence structure is extremely hard for me, i was told in the late 90's to make short sentences so people can understand what i am writing. i am can't get the basic sentence structures and noun verb noun thing right. so i try the best to write where others can understand. i love sports esp sox baseball and these guys here are the best.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 23, 2015 -> 03:19 PM) You can do whatever you want, this is America. thanks. i am sooo relieved to hear that. whew. i was sweating bullets there. oops

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 23, 2015 -> 04:05 PM) 1) We did homework on the guys and pursued them as far as we could, but didn't feel that there was a fit, Regarding Yoan Lopez specifically, we felt that a 100% tax on overage charges didn't justify the cost of bringing him in. Had we done so, it would have cost nearly 2 times the value of his contract and would limit other potential signings we could make outside of him, so we just didn't feel that was the right opportunity. 2) We are always looking to improve the team and we have been in contact with a few players, but we can't say one way or the other whether or not we will obtain these players. this is my attempt of kissarse and brown-nosing. but i am serious. this is 1 of the best sites of posters who are willing to help. many thanks. can i respond to this or make a general statement as a counter??

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jan 23, 2015 -> 03:58 PM) Can I ask why you type like this? It's very frustrating to read at times. b/c i am extremely bad in english and english comp. i have gone to many tutors and classes to improve. this is the best i will ever get. something as simple as english for some is not as easy for others.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jan 23, 2015 -> 02:42 PM) Rick specializes in Mexican food, but he's got two world-class Mexican restaurants in Chicago (Frontera and Topolobampo) and he's had the long-running Mexico: One Plate at a Time that started on WTTW. I made this garlic sauce (prepared slightly differently but same ingredients) last night over grouper, it was delicious. ahh great mexican food, i use to just on the highway and go in my old neighborhood in the little village area and eat. damn LA. the best mexican here is taco bell.
