QUOTE (farmteam @ Jan 19, 2016 -> 11:49 PM) Saw that. I was legit laughing out loud a few times. oh man that was extremely funny.... here is the link

QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jan 20, 2016 -> 12:41 AM) I really think the Sox missed out on a potentially good international signing in Hyun-soo Kim. Another ball player with high OBP potential and I think he will easily outplay his contract which is peanuts. Hopefully the Sox get after Hernandez and sign him. Couldn't be worse than fricken Avi. you know, you may be right, i was sooo pissed from last yr where they the sox failed on Kang.... i even posted it on a pm to someone.... damn i wish i could remember who.. i just was angry.... there would not be another kang for a long time to come. my other one i am looking at is someone i haven't even talked about.... but that will be for another time. when the cespy thingy is done.

QUOTE (shipps @ Jan 20, 2016 -> 12:16 AM) LOL You can cut the whitesox fan angst with a butter knife at this point. For the process of healing to start he just needs to sign somewhere already. with no offense, i just don't buy that. i think that if the sox gets someone who can help the team.... maybe not the way cespy can, but still help the team in a long run. i honestly am thinking the fans, esp after today, the fans will not be angry if the numbers are so out of whack and the sox walks. just my opinion.

QUOTE (Baron @ Jan 20, 2016 -> 12:17 AM) Mets should be fairly easy to outbid if the Sox actually wanted to i agree, eps if and the fact that the mets owners are stilling realling from the Madoff fiasco.

i have always hated him being discussed as a good fit for chi. i have always thought he was overrated and i have posted the stats per baseball ref. but i have stop that. i didn't want anymore heated discussion.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jan 19, 2016 -> 01:38 PM) Saladino for at least 2-3 months...or longer. ugh....i guess as fans, this is the best we can hope for. i just hope they the sox address the outfield position.

QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jan 20, 2016 -> 12:23 AM) I have no clue how his numbers would translate but I would take a chance on Hernandez. A left handed batting outfielder with high OBP potential sounds great to me and could slot well in the #2 slot in the lineup. Hopefully the Sox can make something happen. exactly.... nothing venture nothing gain. let me put it this way as well, the unknown commodity, Jose Abreu.

QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jan 20, 2016 -> 12:27 AM) In the end though, Cooper has just as much right to rip the fans as the fans do to rip the FO. As a fan, I am not in the least bit offended by Cooper's words. I see nothing wrong with people speaking their minds. true.... but they all take directions from the chairman of the board. but when the team has problems getting fans, as someone said, business 101.

QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 19, 2016 -> 09:06 PM) I'm glad I'm not the only one who hates Krasinski's face. He never did anything to me but I can't stand him. yeah but i got to admit i love his taste in women, esp his wife.

QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 19, 2016 -> 07:59 PM) 13 Hours was solid for a Bay movie. I'm sure he took liberties with some of the events and of course has some of the cheesy melodrama he always puts in there, but I enjoyed it. 13 hours was great.... but i finally came to the conclusion that i really like war movies.... that security team if from Blackwater.... the same group that was hired for security in our community b/c of hurricane Rita. another fact, i saw the documentary on the actual group and their perspective. there were 3 guys.... the main 3 guys on camera... it is well worth the 45 mins. lastly i rate this up there with blackhawk done. now with blackhawk done, i did so much research on the whole group. fantastic work. on 13 hour a funny tidbit, the next morning on a private jet on of the soldiers accidentally shot his gun. the pilots were furious on that.... it is in the doc ....

to everyone .................... many thanks for a great discussion.

QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 19, 2016 -> 09:10 PM) I re-upped my modest package after Frazier. This time, I'm just going to give away april/may tickets. God I hate going to games then. if you owned a business... a good tax write off to give them to your clients or customers.

24/7 Wall Street: Sox 5th largest declining fanbase in sports
LDF replied to Lip Man 1's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Jan 19, 2016 -> 08:59 PM) Wall Street Journal had a story today on the "15 Pro Franchises Running Out Of Fans..." The Sox came in 5th from the top (which in this case is the worst). Here is what they had to say numbers-wise: 5. Chicago White Sox > Sport: Baseball > 10 year attendance decline: 24.1% > Avg. home game attendance: 21,947 > Avg. capacity filled: 54.0% The only baseball franchises ranked worse than the Sox were the Indians (4) and Phillies (2) So you've got the Sox among the biggest decline in fan attendance over the last decade coupled with both Fan Graphs and ESPN.com stating they were the worst watched franchise in MLB ratings-wise. This is a franchise in major trouble. Mark this news is like someone pissing in my cheerios .... -
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jan 19, 2016 -> 09:05 PM) Fister, Latos, Lincecum, Cliff Lee with a wing and a prayer based on his elbow Gallardo looking for $15-17.5 million per year for 5 years. And the draft pick is lost. i am tooo confuse just concertinaing on will he or will he not to think beyond that.
-
for no one .... and everyone. someone made a great post on the attendance..... i think the sox has ..... go in, b/c of the attendance. the side south are in a war, whether anyone wants to think about it or not, they will be in a war for media attention, for fans attending, the commercial revenue and many other things, esp with the cable ratings and money from that venue. so in essence, they need to continue. the northside has done a great job but they are limited, the sox are only limited but the FO shortsightedness.
-
QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jan 19, 2016 -> 08:55 PM) I still think we need a RHP starter. If we sign Cespedes, who is worth a shot? I know we aren't in on a guy like Gallardo. What's left out there? I predicted Fister awhile ago. me too. but i will not mention it until later.
-
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jan 19, 2016 -> 08:56 PM) Both Cespedes AND Desmond this is a pipe dream and i know it. but if the sox does sign them, yeah i can see the sox being a playoff contender. why not. the only hole will be ..... the DJ and the manager.

QUOTE (ptatc @ Jan 19, 2016 -> 08:53 PM) I agree that haven't done well. I think it started last year. Previous to that I think it was a "win now" each year. I think it shifted last year. I'm never expecting all of the minor leaguers to work out. As a matter of fact, I'm expecting most won't. However, if you keep adding at least 2-3 each year some will work out and then they will begin to form a pipeline and be more consistent. It won't happen for a few years. However, good trades as they've done this year and short term FA deals as they did last year will help to improve the team as this happens. I have nothing against the FAs or even signing Cespedes, as long as they are short deals. Save the long deals for their own players, the ones they know. You knows I may be wrong and they find they really like Frazier and he wants to stay. you really make a good point. i think it is a must to sign Frazier and even lawrie to an extension.... so they can bridge the infield until the sox have prospects to take over.
-
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jan 19, 2016 -> 08:49 PM) That's one eventuality we can be 99.8% certain won't happen. a little confuse, the sox singing cespy or not signing cesp....

QUOTE (Saufley @ Jan 19, 2016 -> 08:44 PM) I loved it when he would be walking to the plate and in the background you would hear playing "Jesus Christ Superstar". that is funny................ a nice visual............

QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jan 19, 2016 -> 08:41 PM) Me too DA. If they wanted to rebuild I'm all good but whatever ya do don't half ass it. Go all in on a rebuild or revamping the team to take advantage of your core. For me, I like that approach. Try and win with your cost controlled young core. If it doesn't work, you can still move them in two years along with Frazier. ok i like what you and DA are saying, but let me asked this. the sox fixed the holes via fa's. and let the farm continue to rebuild, wouldn't this still be the right option??? next yr draft, eky on college players to continue to fix the minors..... i mean, we still have to gasp the golden key when it is there. the sox are too deep into this not to continue on the path they are taking.

QUOTE (iWin4Ron @ Jan 19, 2016 -> 08:37 PM) Get Cespedes and desmond and call it a winter. We are finalists for Ces so just make it happen. and maybe it will be me, but that will be a playoff contender. yes..... makes it all the better when i come into chi for a visit.
-
QUOTE (Saufley @ Jan 19, 2016 -> 08:31 PM) I loved Dick Allen, as a player, when he was with the Sox! I have to be careful how I phrase this knowing you guys out there. DA was the bomb ................ among my fav's as a player.... he was not your typical rah rah kind of player.
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 19, 2016 -> 08:18 PM) That Dan Hayes stuff yesterday was odd. And if people really thing the White Sox will sign Cespedes if they call 500 people and 450 say they will buy tickets if they do.... thanks for this little bit of info. if i was a doom and gloom kind of a poster, i will say the FO is hedging their next move on whether the typical fan will buy season tickets.... but as you said, who knows.
-
QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 19, 2016 -> 08:11 PM) Those that may complain about the contract are not the problem. After all, it was not their front office philosophy that mandated filling in all holes with FA/trades in a bid to be immediately competitive. But when that is your strategy, we can have opinions on how to best do that. Mainly because its infuriating to drive 3/4 way to a place and then say "Wellp, that's pretty far, let's tucker in for the night, I'm sure the festival will be there tomorrow" nice analogy.
