  1. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Dec 1, 2015 -> 10:43 PM) He was coming off one season in the rotation and we had him under control for a while anyway. It's a completely different situation than being a free agent. i agree and he still didn't have to sign. my me thinking.
  2. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Dec 1, 2015 -> 11:25 PM) I think the Pirates lineup is deep enough to the point where he could be plugged in to the 6/7 spot and they could hope for the best. Also, they are looking to get better defensively at first. exactly and only for 1 yr. then their prize prospect comes into play. now with pedro, and money that team will need to award players, it is too much. 5 million, laroche who plays a good D, and another propect, pitching prospect. the sox will get alvarez and his 25+ hrs and a better producing dh than last yr dh.
  3. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Dec 1, 2015 -> 11:23 PM) $3 million is chump change in the MLB nowadays. yeah you are right. and they just throw money around like monopoly money.
  4. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Dec 1, 2015 -> 10:35 PM) Agreed. I would've loved to see him be a White Sox lifer, but that certainly won't happen now. The inflated contracts that these pitching free agents are getting is unreal and the Sox won't pony up the dough it'll take to keep him from going elsewhere. It'll be a very sad day when Chris Sale is in a uniform other than a White Sox one. maybe you are right, but he did take a huge discount to sign an extension with the sox. sooooo who knows.
  5. QUOTE (Baron @ Dec 1, 2015 -> 10:38 PM) That's the part I think some of them were counting on....or atleast that they would make more of an effort for Price In other news. With Greinke signing soon with the Dodgers or Giants....the bidding war for Shark will start. i agree. but with all the bs and greinke, even thou he stated he will not leave the west coast.... 30 mil????
  6. QUOTE (Baron @ Dec 1, 2015 -> 10:36 PM) It's stun with a little bit of "we didnt want him anyway" oh man, many thanks for the laughter..... typical.... i even screwed my spelling on that. i was still laughing.
  7. QUOTE (Saufley @ Dec 1, 2015 -> 10:30 PM) I thought I read on Rotoworld he has an opt out after 3 years. I think it is his and not the club opt out. Yea, I agree 38 is a bit too old for that contract really, i trust in what you are saying, but it doesn't make sense. 33-34 and an out opt. if he wants it. no team is going to pony up for a 34 and for what, 40 mil?? very confusing, unless it is a buyout option, still.
  8. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Dec 1, 2015 -> 10:28 PM) Except the playoffs last year showed the Cubs need a 1 or 2 SP bad. Lester is a year older and Arietta won't have a ridiculous once in a hundred years season again. Trading for top SP normally isn't 1 for 1 hitter for pitcher either. I guess they can run at Greinke, but have to imagine LAD will just match what ever is thrown at him, unless it's completely absurd. i read last week when all the crap about him and puig came out. in a side note, greinke mention with ref to his contract, he will not leave the west coast.
  9. QUOTE (Baron @ Dec 1, 2015 -> 10:27 PM) Honestly though the amount of surprised people on Twitter over this deal is hilarious. Especially by Cubs fans. can you help .... in which way... outrage or stun.
  10. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Dec 1, 2015 -> 11:24 PM) Nothing would've made me happier then to see him go to the Cubs. Then they'd be stuck with 2 overpaid aging pitchers that would severely hamper their payroll flexibility when their young studs get older and more expensive. Oh well... i wouldn't even want to think about it. 2 potent sp going into the playoff.... fvvck that,.
  11. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Dec 1, 2015 -> 11:22 PM) Ha ha, the values of Sale and Q just went up. I guessed Price would end up with the Dodgers but Boston isn't too surprising given their history of signing big free agents and their need for a #1. Up next next, Cueto to the cubs? J/K you just got me thinking on the rtn that Q or Sale trade could get the sox.... the price of their contracts, who wouldn't trade a hunk of their farm for them.
  12. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Dec 1, 2015 -> 11:22 PM) I was just sure he'd go to Joe Maddon. Lol money talks bs walks as always he was really going for the money... i am really surprise that the northside did not pony up for him.
  13. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Dec 1, 2015 -> 10:19 PM) I think LaRoche would be a lot better off back in the NL where he got to play defense everyday. He could fit in Colorado as a guy to hold a spot down in a rebuilding year if the Sox were to take on some money from the Rockies. Pitt may be interested if the Sox eat half the contract, the Brewers may be another option if they unload Lind at the winter meetings for prospects. They could try and turn a half season of LaRoche into more prospects at the deadline. The Giants would be a long shot if they end up moving Belt for pitching and then could platoon LaRoche with Posey. They always seem to squeeze a little extra out of veterans in the Giants org. for me, i think and maybe i am being obsessive on this, but it is pitt who is the best fit .
  14. QUOTE (JUSTgottaBELIEVE @ Dec 1, 2015 -> 11:06 PM) AustinIllini was certain Cubs would sign him because you know the Madden connection. Ha, cash is king i really thought that stl would be in the hunt. i guess they weren't.
  15. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 1, 2015 -> 11:14 PM) But the White Sox should totally trade Chris Sale. price 31 mil per for 7 yrs..... sweet for him. there is no way the sox would be able to do that and i wouldn't want them to. his contract is at an end when he is 38 yo.
  16. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Nov 30, 2015 -> 08:22 PM) That's a huge point you make about Alvarez being horrid on defense and the Pirates not having a DH spot to stow him away at. I don't think the Pirates will have a problem finding an AL team willing to take on Alvarez at 8M. LaRoche is a different story since he's essentially a first baseman with no power at a high cost. Hope I'm wrong but I just don't see him being traded. The only thing I can think of would be to trade LaRoche + 5M for Alvarez. To be honest, I think the Pirates can do better in a trade involving Alvarez. ding... ding... ding. the winner. that is what i would do as well plus a low tier pitcher to sweeten the deal.
  17. QUOTE (Knackattack @ Nov 30, 2015 -> 08:29 PM) I'm thinking LaRoche will bounce back next year to hit something like .250/.330/.430 w/ 20 homers. Konerko had a horrible year in the same fashion around that age and then bounced back to be himself again. Alex Rios had an abysmal year and then bounced back the next year. Adam Dunn had the worst season ever and then actually became a good DH. Players have bad years and LaRoche (as much as I hated this guy during the season) seems like just as good a candidate as any to be useful again. i hope you are right, for me i think it is wishful thinking. mark this for next season end.
  18. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Dec 1, 2015 -> 09:56 PM) Yep. Dumb jokes are my specialty. But back on topic: Park just signed a 4 year deal worth 12 million. That's not a bad gamble at all. I think Kang received similar. I can't see Hwang getting any more than they did so he could potentially be a solid gamble at a better price than the Twins and Pirates paid. Watch Hwang sign for 4/10 or 3/8 or 9. for me, i think it is a gamble at 12 mil.... no way, maybe 9 or 10. oh well.
  19. QUOTE (Vance Law @ Dec 1, 2015 -> 09:46 PM) I think he was making a joke based on the name. hi8is = hiatus geez... make me look like a bigger idiot.. but in all fairness, i would never have thought of that. .... i like the originality of it. nice.
  20. QUOTE (Dunt @ Dec 1, 2015 -> 09:41 PM) I 100% believe Ray will be the pick if he's there that may be a safe bet b/c of how the sox owners feel of the program. but last yr, that other player dropped at draft time. of the top of my head looking at this draft at this time. also with the understanding that there is still a full yr of college baseball to be played. Ray leads all positional players i think with his hit tools. what did they say a comparable 10 hrs, 15 - 25 sb and nice avg. but looking at the sox needs, and here is where i am different. Dalbec is the best player in power in the whole draft. comparable to kris bryant the sleeper is zach collins. climbing fast. he is the best power for catchers, maybe the 2nd best in the draft, nice throwing skills and can hit for avg. the big question is can he stay at catcher??? if he can, i will take him over anyone that is not the top 2 fav pitchers. this is a nice looking draft with some 3 tier players that can move if they had a good yr.
  21. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Dec 1, 2015 -> 07:50 PM) For a year or so everyone wanted the Hawks to trade for him. It was "look how good he is as Quick's back up!" Now, he's not very good despite playing on a poor team. In short: no. and i can accept what you are saying, i was just looking at the peripherals, and you know what, skills wise, he may be a little better than crawford, but crawford has that defense in front of him and the whole team..... that means alot. however, i was looking on how to gets a player who can compliment that first line, something like a saad.
  22. QUOTE (hi8is @ Dec 1, 2015 -> 06:25 PM) Dude. You have no idea. My wife whet bonkers... Had an affair with a fat girl and then holed herself up in a hotel room for 4 days doing God knows what, leaving me with my son at our house. Then she starts claiming I kidnapped our kid and was threatening to put out an amber alert. So I filled for a restraining order and got full custody. Ever since its been... Divorce. Lawsuits. Insane amounts of money being thrown away. The good news is that I re united with my first love who just so happened to turn out to be a cheerleader for a professional sports team. So that's going splendid - everything happens for a reason, so they say. f*** it You asked. man i am sooo sorry about all that. i hope the best for you.
  23. QUOTE (LDF @ Nov 29, 2015 -> 02:46 PM) that is still a nice rtn ..... the points does not tell the whole story but it is still a good trip. now i do not know on the validity of this rumor, but columbus and islander may have a trade happening with ref to hamonic ... now only time will tell if it happen. here i thought on a crazy idea of the hawks getting involve well i will own up, i guess that rumor was really someone creative ideas... here is a question. should the hawks look at moving crawford and pick up Jonathan Bernier - g from tor in a bigger deal. now remember this season Bernier is having a rough start. the trade is to lessen the salary cap for the hawks and help in any future players movement. now, berrier has some really good skills. but i know, not during the season.
  24. QUOTE (flavum @ Dec 1, 2015 -> 06:27 PM) MLBtraderumors has a non-tender tracker for tomorrow night's deadline. They have six Sox players that qualify for their tracker-- Avi, Flowers, Jennings, Jones, Putnam, and Turner. I would doubt any of these guys gets non-tendered. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/non-tender-tracker-2015-16 Could be some minor trades over the next 36 hours. a great find. ref dfa list... wow, they have some surprise there. i really don't understand this move, are they really going to dive in the market and expect to get a lot of players??? any ideas of this would be helpful.
  25. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 1, 2015 -> 06:15 PM) What does this mean then? I do have some players in mind for all 3 draft picks that we will get in the top 50-55. And my "excuse" that I gave about the Rockies is plain fact. plain freaking english... and i have problem with english. we are talking about and identifying players who may be there, also if not, he is a ACE player that is a good nod for the program... do you know what ACE is and who set it up???? who care.... i am done talking to you, before i get banned for my of my ENGLISh may use next.
