well, i finally got done watching the movie Everest, wow, a very intense, for me, movie. great and i was disappointed it never appeared where i live. i am now catching up on most of the individual characters on wiki .... here is a link, i think this is the real people. http://www.videomoviles.com/0ui3sJpJFSM/tr...s-and-rob-hall/ edit ..... the real buck weathers. https://www.google.com/search?q=Beck+Weathe...bVr7zdOIKuNM%3A https://www.google.com/search?q=Beck+Weathe...bVr7zdOIKuNM%3A

QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Nov 30, 2015 -> 10:16 PM) If, big if, we emptied the farm system it better be for an impact bat to hit behind Abreu. very true, however trading with Atl, their GM is one of the savviest gm in most of baseball. the sox would get fleeced.

QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 30, 2015 -> 09:42 PM) The story pivots so much from murderous isolated contest where goal is to survive to a wide-spanning "win a civil war". In reality the third book could have been 5 unsuccessful books but eventually you run out of reason for her to be in the games. In lord of the rings, you have a single goal (destroy the ring) that can have so much happen along the way. In Harry Potter, its kill voldemort. These are simple acts that are your ending. Hunger Games could have resolved with the civil war being a handwaving moment "everyone rose up, the city fell in days", but instead they made the plot the civil war and it was a mess. The movie could have changed that but it didn't have the guts. even for me, i could have lived with the civil war, but the other side stories were sooooo weak and boring, i found my self skipping.... long drag out for the sake of getting a thick book with pages. then the ending, cmon, it was brutal and the unexpected death. it was just all bad writing from a 1/4 way in. i am talking about the final book.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 30, 2015 -> 09:26 PM) I could argue Puig has more talent because he can be an impact defender to go along with being an impact bat. Both were terrific early in their careers with Puig's only down offensive season being in an injury prone 3rd year. This is a talent and I'd love it if the Sox bought low for once, however, I'm also not that up to speed in what just happened (off the field). Sounds like the guy truly is a mess though. true and if i was trading for him, hello drug test for everything.

QUOTE (knightni @ Nov 30, 2015 -> 10:00 PM) Is it possible that Micah could be a decent LF? i think he had elbow surgery and knee surgery. http://www.csnchicago.com/white-sox/elbow-...t-micah-johnson i didn't know about the shoulder. but i concern as well the sox FO is his throw from the OF may hurt his elbow again.

QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Nov 30, 2015 -> 09:41 PM) But then the offense that Sanchez played for the rest of the year also could tributes to the Sox record when they were putting up one of horrible the offenses for the year. You keep saying you want a dee gordon when Micah can be that much of a player offensively then sanchez. My whole point of my argument that no one is getting is until either Sanchez or johnson has totally flamed out that I would not trade either of them cause they plain and simple need the depth of them cause neither right now is a perfect candidate to be the 2nd baseman. The both have flaws but need the depth in case one can't cut it to see if the other can. first bold, i hate to break this to you, but there were other players who contributed to the lousy season that was in 2015. no offense intended. just you would like to know. second bold, micah can be better offensively is not the question, it is the defense. it was the defense that sent him down, it is the defense that will keep him out of the lineup. the question of dee gordon is a wish, and still has nothing to do with mj, sanchez and saladino defense and starting or being kept as a ut. lastly, you are correct on the depth, but for this case, if mj is not on the team for whatever reasoning, then there is L. Garcia, the forgotten player in this discussion.

QUOTE (TheFutureIsNear @ Nov 30, 2015 -> 08:32 PM) I think people really need to come to grips that guys like Saladino, Thompson, and probably even Sanchez are all nice guys to have as backups, but aren't going to be good starting caliber players. Maybe Sanchez can be a league average 2B, but even he is probably better off at UTL. The sooner this is accepted the better and i agree, even this will be an attack on TT faithfuls, but that is the honest truth, he is no better than a 4th of'er who will be expected to play a full season as a regular.... if the sox doesn't find anyone else. sanchez, saladino are ut's as you mention. don't get me wrong, i wish i am wrong in this.

QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Nov 30, 2015 -> 07:30 PM) Yes I know what he is saying and what you are both implying is a hypothetical. How about the reverse hypothetical were you can't find a better 3rd baseman and the Sox traded away Micah and they have Sanchez hitting like crap and need to upgrade him offensively but can't do it within cause they traded the little depth that had now they have to go outside the organization to fI'll it. That's what I'm getting at to not trade the little depth the Sox have for middle infielders you have an opinion that your think is right. let me reverse this thought process on you. in your scenario, you will need to take in consideration several variables that will need to all happen. 1. you will need to assume TT, replacing Avi will be hitting better than Avi. 2. you will need to assume Lawrie is hitting his weight 3, you will need to assume Laroche is north of 250 avg, 4. you will need to assume the combo of flower and Alex will be hitting north of 230-250. now if sanchez is not hitting, then the sox can deal with a weak bat, now if there is any failure in any of the above 4, the sox will have another season as last yr. it is plain and simple. mj defense is or was horrible. enuf that last yr, with the record they had, they had to fine a replacement.

QUOTE (spiderman @ Nov 30, 2015 -> 06:26 PM) Who would want an aging 1B/DH type who is coming off a bad season? Even if there were interest, the White Sox would have to take back a similar contract OR pay for him to play elsewhere. They are probably better off using him as a 1B and DH 4-5 days a week. I'm still in full support though of making him earn at-bats (i.e. if Micah Johnson can hit, he should play, and that can eat into La Roche's DH time), but between 1B/DH, he can still get a good amount of at bats since this team does lack something he can provide in his power. that is not the sox way, esp with the sox ownership and most importantly, the size of his contract that they will expect to eat.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 30, 2015 -> 06:08 PM) It isn't logical you could get something for LaRoche or even much salary relief if it is assumed he will be as horrible next season. If it only saves them a million or so, they are better off seeing if he can bounce back. Baseball Prospectus really thought he would age decently last year. He had one of his highest walk rates and lowest k rates in 2014. Maybe it was just the adjustment to the AL and to DHing that threw him off a bit, but unless there is some real savings, getting rid of him just to get rid of him makes little sense to me. He is a highly respected teammate. QUOTE (iamshack @ Nov 30, 2015 -> 06:11 PM) Fair points, but the question of whether LaRoche's contract should be basically swallowed whole is directly linked to the competitive position of the team. If they don't make a number of other moves, it doesn't seem to be very wise to eat the money just to move him elsewhere. If they make some moves, such as acquiring another bat and making LaRoche's roster spot useless, then they can move him. There is a chance he bounces back and either gives us a much-needed bat, or else turns himself into a tradeable commodity in July. Bottom line is, with our current roster construction, there really isn't anyone he is taking PAs from, so we may as well pay him to play for us rather than someone else and hope he turns things around. both makes a great counter and it is logical. but my point is with his contract off the books, it may open a whole realm of possible trades and / or a possible strategic dh signing. there are still several team that are undecided on their RFA. but either way, the main point will be the possibility, (and yes it is not a guarantee) of something opening up with ref to moves. excellent counters.

excellent, for the first 10 home games in the NHL, chi leads the group. http://www.mynhltraderumors.com/2015/11/30...-games-2015-16/

QUOTE (iamshack @ Nov 30, 2015 -> 06:51 PM) At this point I am inclined to keep him. This shouldn't be amongst the first moves we make...this move should be defined by the other moves we make. ok, i may not agree for this reason, at this point, if the sox can get out from under his contract, so much the better. even if the sox will pay, what, 3 mil of his salary. the risk is too much for me to accept that gamble. furthermore, even if he can hit a little better than last yr, no one can say his offensive stat will be his normal let alone above avg, something that i will need to see to accept. \ lastly, look at paulie last couple of yrs as a sox, loos at his stats. that is what i am expecting to see. and i hope i am wrong.

QUOTE (raBBit @ Nov 30, 2015 -> 05:38 PM) The stipulation on injuries is that a player can only be drafted if he has been active in the last 90 days. but the main question is, why is he on the waiver list. but this is a rhetorical question.

QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Nov 30, 2015 -> 05:54 PM) Trading LaRoche would be a good thing. Mark but the main question will be to whom??? what team would trade for him.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 30, 2015 -> 04:30 PM) The last book could have been written by a 12 year old it was so bad. It was a how can we tie this up and get out of this franchise type of book. oh man that was harsh, and you are killing me. here i am trying to be nice and mr. positive and you are coming up with this. but i agree, and the same thing with maze runner and twilite and many other books. i agree, but at least it is over i wonder why these authors can't write a good ending???

QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Nov 30, 2015 -> 04:19 PM) I really don't think either should be moved honestly. If the Sox don't upgrade that position then you need a fall back plan. Micah has the chance for better offense and Sanchez is the better defender. If the Sox say go with Sanchez next year and he can't hit worth a lick then you have Micah to back him up. Sox can't afford to keep thinning the middle infield anymore . outside the pitching in the sox org, that is the only position that may have something of a serviceable player who may entice another team and maybe as in a pkg.

QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Nov 30, 2015 -> 04:22 PM) We got it. But you're still wrong. You don't DFA young, cheap relievers with a good arm and MLB experience when they have options and you have plenty of space on the 40 man. If they're looking for guys to clear from the 40 man, there are a few that would go before Webb, who is probably pretty safe right now. the 40 man now stands at 38.... me i can dfa smith, olt, davidson and i would even go with a laroche, (depending on his contract structure.) and carroll as he was last yr.

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Nov 30, 2015 -> 04:24 PM) I thought Mockingjay Part 2 was pretty bad. Not as bad as Part 1, but still bad. Shame cause I really liked the first two movies, but those last two were disappointing. i am a very harsh critic when i come to reading and enjoying the book vs the movie. as i said, 1 and 2 were gook, #3 was ok and #4 was a closure for the series. at least it wasn't like twilight the book and moves of the end of the series. over all i can live with the all thing as entertainment. glad it is over. now maze runner the last movie was way better than the book and i have confident that it would do it justice.

QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Nov 30, 2015 -> 02:47 PM) I think Micah's bat is much better, but then again, his defense is terrible. Sanchez is already an elite defender, but only has an average bat. I think with more experience though, he can become a serviceable hitter. ref sanchez, it is more like he can, in later yrs be a ut kind of a player, but for now a good stopgap kind of a player at 2b.

QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Nov 30, 2015 -> 02:50 PM) Any AL team that gives Cueto a 6 year/$120 million or more deal is crazy. He's way past his prime, especially if he stays in the AL. Maybe he'd be worth that contract to an NL team, but he was basically like Samardzija in the AL. more like on the sox a good example.
-
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Nov 30, 2015 -> 01:34 PM) Nah. He'll get more than that. yeah you are right, its just that i am not impress with him to justify what it would cost to sign him.

QUOTE (knightni @ Nov 30, 2015 -> 02:13 PM) Mockingjay Part 2 was a decent film. The whole series of films was actually pretty watchable. 3 stars out of 5 i agree. esp with move 1 and 2. they did the book right. it was a very enjoyable watching, overall.

QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Nov 30, 2015 -> 03:42 PM) If one of Johnson/Sanchez were moved, I can't decide who I'd rather see traded. Both have pros and cons. I'd probably lean towards keeping Sanchez and trading Johnson if push came to shove, but I really don't know. i agree, i would move johnson b/c sanchez defense is already has be spotlighted,

QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Nov 30, 2015 -> 03:38 PM) I think it would be pretty hard about trying to pry him away. I saw stuff that the Marlins are trying to extend him a contract. and you are right, but the marlins have problems with 2 players right now, one of which is their #1 sp..... if the deal is there and they can get a few players on the cheap who can be part of their team now and in the future, the owners will go for it. just my thinking.
