QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 30, 2015 -> 02:51 PM) Micah is doing a lot of White Sox holiday charity things right now. IMO, it's a sign he probably isn't out the door, at least they aren't dangling him. that goes to show he is a great org guy and would be a great pr / spokeperson for the org thru his deeds. i am happy and impress with him. good for him.

QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Nov 30, 2015 -> 02:43 PM) I think it's a reference to the Sox/Royals incident last season. Aside from the A's/Royals stuff last season, I think the previous Lawrie nonsense could be chalked up to immaturity. Not that he won't act out again, but he could mature and imo has. We've seen Sox players do stupid s*** too in the past. One thing to point out about the A's/ Royals incident is that the Royals were pissed about Lawrie's take out slide. Lawrie's slid low through the bag to take out Cain but again, Lawrie slid low to take out the feet and not the knees. Lawrie even showed concern for Cain after the play. that is baseball plain and simple. it is part of the game. now how he acts in the clubhouse, i will chalk this up to say, lets see if he has a history and is it bad enuf not to take that chance. different clubhouse, different environment. however remember, as i said if he is not a clubhouse cancer from the beginning.like a certain dodger player.

QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Nov 30, 2015 -> 01:49 PM) You have Anderson to play SS hopefully next year. Gordon plays 2nd and hasn't played SS in 2 years. Honestly Micah could be come Gordon if his defense improves and gets playing time to fully show what he can do. Also needs to stay healthy you make a good point, but lets look into this a little further. dee gordon, 1 yr at ss if able, will be determine in ST. then anderson is up, ss and gordon moves to 2b. assuming nothing else in this equation .... his bat is too valuable to forgo the lucky chance of getting him. but what the hay, this is all fictional ideas.

QUOTE (oldsox @ Nov 30, 2015 -> 02:14 PM) "Can't get big league hitters out" is an expression, Wite, not a literal statement. I thought with your Adminhood you would know the difference. I wasn't talking about his performance in 2013-14. Last season, he had a lot of trouble getting anyone out, especially after his first 30 days after being called up. He pitched 30 innings last season, so with your powers of deduction, he recorded 90 outs. He gave up 46 hits and 23 walks/HBP. And he was getting worse as the season progressed. Figure it out. He couldn't get MANY/ENOUGH hitters out, okay? i am not trying to take sides and find this exchange to be informative. but using last yr season, is not a good way to judge anyone. b/c last yr sucked hitters and pitchers alike.

QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Nov 30, 2015 -> 12:10 PM) Trading Micah would be the likely scenario, imo. Sanchez is perfect for the utility roll being a switch hitter with great defense. I'd still like to see if Sanchez's bat can come around but beggers can't be chosers so if Lawrie had to move to 2B then so be it. again you are 100 % correct.... maybe it is b/c you are agreeing with me. but in all honesty, i was thinking that the sox will sign oops get 1 player, and that will be Lawrie and for 3b. Sanchez has won that position from last yr play. MJ would be a great filler in a bigger trade that needed a player pkg to pull it off. but dang it, i would love to have gordon on the south side and playing ss.

QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Nov 30, 2015 -> 12:58 PM) What would happen to Sanchez and Micah Johnson in this scenario? Would they be traded? no choice for maybe 1 of them. maybe MJ being traded.

the more and more i see of John Tortorella, i am becoming a fan of his. he calls it as he see it, with out regard to any penalty from the league. with out being a racist, he reminds me of every Italians i know from chi. will be your best friend and watch out for their fiery temper. on this rant he is head on ....

i rewatch the ot win of la over the hawks. i still think it was exciting. the hawks had a chance and the goalie swatted the puck up and over the net ... i could have sworn that was going in. 2 mistakes by hawks, i forgot who, but the winger on the right side should have circle behind the net with the puck instead of forcing the shot. the last mistake on kane that allowed the winning score. but hey, it was a great ot and Darling look good.

QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Nov 30, 2015 -> 06:09 AM) Eh I like Frazier but at what cost? They want the house and I'm not giving it up for him. Would rather get Lawrie and save the prospects. We probably could get Lawrie and Cargo for less than Frazier. earlier it was said that cincy was blowing it up but now i have yet to hear anything on Frazier, i am wondering if cincy is waiting for the Chapman -rp to resolve itself. but i agree, it they really want significant rtn .... forget about it.

sp - Johnny Cueto and the amount he rejected. there are 2 different amounts that was offered, a contract in the 15-18 mil range and another in the 6yrs/120 range. either way, before last yr, i would have sworn that he was in the 25 per range or more. but after last yr performance, i thought the 6/120 is a fair price.

QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Nov 30, 2015 -> 03:54 AM) Before '15 he was average or better on defense. His K rate jumped last season as well. I'm thinking last season was an outlier when compared to previous years. Not sure what happened in Oakland to be honest but given the extremely thin market for 3B, I'd take the risk since he's just going on the age of 26 in a few months. I see him the same way as far as who the Sox had playing 3B. Lawrie is an upgrade over Gillaspie/Saladino/Olt. We would all prefer someone better at 3B but there's just not much available. i agree and my take was he was trying for the hr more, causing him to k more as well. ref to his stats, i too agree esp with the market.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Nov 30, 2015 -> 03:54 AM) Wouldn't starting on the DL be less of a risk, since it makes the player much easier to hide? he will need to start the season, off the dl and on the 40 man, when the season begins, then he can go on the dl, example is nate jones last season. the whole point of my suggestion is, his tools took a hit and he may be worth the hiding to see what the sox pitching staff has in him.

QUOTE (Brian @ Nov 30, 2015 -> 03:26 AM) I'd recommend bookmarking rottentomatoes.com. It's a good reference as to what is good and what you shouldn't waste money on. i understand what you are saying, but here is an example, you mention a positive review of rottentomatoes of something like 90+ for a movie. well you are correct, but when the poll of that movie was only 100 movie goers, it is not very convincing..... but i still understand your point.

QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Nov 30, 2015 -> 03:09 AM) Those aren't foundation pieces. Every team has role players that are expected to contribute in certain ways. Kruger on the PK, Shaw in front of the next, ect. Those are never going to be key contributors. What the organization has been very clear about from the start is building a foundation around Toews-Kane-Hossa-Keith-Seabrook. Those are your building blocks for the last 6+ years. Because they are expensive and the NHL deals in a hard salary cap, finding young, cost controlled IMPACT talent is key. You had that in guys like Saad, Byfuglien, Bolland, ect. But those guys get expensive, and decisions need to be made. That is when waves comes into play. When those players leave, the next wave has to be ready to replace them. Dano, Teuvo, Panarian, ect. And the cycle continues and continues. It's not a unique concept, and for all the flak you seem to give Bowman & Co, they have done a fantastic job of doing that, especially considering they have been picking in the 30's the last 5+ years. It can still be done with this next wave, but guys need to continue to develop, and you are seeing it on the NHL level instead of in the minors with some of these guys because of the cap crunch. Winning is expensive(and so is Bickell's awful contract). all that flak as you said was done before the season, since then i am cheering as i have always cheered with some questions on 1 player. in actuality i have defended bowman b/c no team in the nhl will want to help the hawks and tell me if that is not the case, unless bowman really overpays. if he over pays it will have to be for a young power forward. but what does rehashing my comments on bowman from the preseason has to do with scoring and the next wave. do not try to incorporate all this in one subject of me ranting on bowman. my lack of faith have always been on teuvo, and it still hasn't change and i said that dano and teuvo needs another yr of seasoning. but the team may not have another body to step in or do they.

QUOTE (TheFutureIsNear @ Nov 30, 2015 -> 01:05 AM) Draft is in less than 2 weeks and we have 40 man roster space to take someone. Here's some guys that have caught my interest so far and a couple of articles with some good info. Please post more guys that you are interested in or any more good articles you can find. http://www.baseballamerica.com/minors/2015...names-remember/ http://m.mlb.com/news/article/157830358/to...in-rule-5-draft Jabari Blash from Seattle seems like an obvious pick this year. 26 year old RF with legit MLB power. .264/.355/.640 with 22 HR's in 228 AAA PA's...and he had a .263 BABIP. That's pretty crazy. Struggled in 2014 but showed the same type of crazy #'s in AA in 2013. Someone might take a shot on him earlier than us, but a guy with 30 + HR power is always worth a risk. Tyler Goedell from Tampa is also interesting. Former sandwich pick as a 3B who is now a 6'5 180 lb OF with above average speed. Hit .279/.350/.433 in AA this year. This is what Kylie McDaniel had to say about him pre season: "Goeddel was a sandwich pick out of high school as a projectable 6’4 athlete that was young for his class. He’s had trouble keeping on weight and predictable problems staying low at third base, which could necessitate a move to right field at some point. Goeddel is an excellent athlete that will flash above average speed, arm strength and raw power projection with at least average tools across the board. He’s 6’5/180 right now and things haven’t quite clicked offensively yet, but he’s been league average or better at each stop of the minors and has been aged appropriately; long frames take longer to mature, so there could be a breakout looming." Balbino Fuenmayor is a gamble but 1 that intrigues me a ton. Formally a highly touted teenager out of Venezuela that earned him a good paycheck as a 16 year old. He struggled the entire time with Toronto and found himself in the Indy league in 2014. Well that must have woke him up because he was the Indy player of the year and got him a minor league contract with the Royals. He absolutely raked in AA for a .354/.386/.591 before being promoted. He continued to tear up AAA but tore his ACL after only 70 PA's in July. He's a risk drafting because he will start the year on the DL, but passing on the chance to get the next David Peralta would suck. TJ Rivera from the Mets has done nothing but hit in the minors (.338 between AA & AAA past 2 years) and is capable of playing any infield position. A little on the old side at 27 and might only be a utility infielder, but never hurts to acquire mlb level players for nothing. And then of course there is always the option of grabbing a guy that throws 95+ and sticking him in the pen and hoping for the best. i too like the blash write up as well, might be worth keeping if Avi is sent to the minors or trade. ref Fuenmayor, he is still recouping.... put him on the IR... and see what develops. ref rivera, i think he can a nice look see as a ut infielder and see what or how he does in the majors. re Wilson from Stl, another look see. re De Paula from San .... i think he can may be able to a an interesting player if he sticks as a RP with just a 2 pitch profile. re Guduan Hou .... 100 mph fast ball for a lefty..... oh yeah, control problems, maybe he is over throwing.

QUOTE (Brian @ Nov 30, 2015 -> 01:56 AM) LDF, do you look up reviews of movies before you go see them? It feels like you go see garage but anything with a good reception, you're weary of. good question, i have respect for the way you asked. the answer is no. i live in a small community, usually if i go, i go by myself. on occasion i go with a lady friend as i did with these 2 movies, yesterday and today. ref creed, i an not impress with stallone movie and usuall don't go and watch them, but he did a great job and a great movie. frankenstien well there were 2 really good actors, but nothing org or earth shattering. just a twist in the org movie. i saw 33 on a d/l and that was very good. a kind of a docu movie. but reviews i do not trust, i am very fickle in watching movies. this is on me and my taste in movies. btw i get into all kinds of movies from chick flicks to foreign movies. so i do not have a particular type of movies i prefer.

QUOTE (Baron @ Nov 30, 2015 -> 12:27 AM) Well with those two you get what you pay for. Mediocre-Bad baseball. and i am really not advocating getting anyone thru fa, but to trade for someone. this team / inept sox FO has to understand, there is no good options unless they trade for one. but and there will always be a but, but at what cost???

saw victor frankenstein .... no impress, i thought it might be something different, i do not know, maybe miscast. plus they tried the all the look in to the body anatomy that robert downing jr made in sherlock.... well now it is the this movie, plus igor..... nah the movie was all over in the plot.

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Nov 30, 2015 -> 12:19 AM) I'd rather go dirt cheap with Rollins on a one year deal than give Cabrera $10M+/per over 3 years. Financial resources should be directed towards 3B & RF, not the middle infield. if there was someone worth the money for 3b.... rollins... going cheap... i will wait and see on that.

QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Nov 30, 2015 -> 12:11 AM) You had to ask. I laugh at myself because I've been flip flopping back and forth on this today so the timing of your question cracks me up. I do know I want no part of Desmond. I like the idea of Asdrubal at SS until Anderson is ready and then slide Asdrubal to 2B. My hangup is that defensively speaking, I really like what Saladino and Sanchez both have to offer and would like to see if they have more to offer with their bats. One minute I like the idea of Asdrubal ( was all on board just a few days ago) and the next minute I'm thinking the Sox should spend the money elsewhere and roll with either Saladino full time at SS or Sanchez full time at 2B. I really want to give Sanchez another year at 2B and see if he can progress more with the bat, I absolutely love his defense and that he's a switch hitter. Plus, I love screaming the word "Dirty!" when he hits the occasional HR. If it were up to me I would try and pry Dee Gordon away from the Marlins. He isn't rumored to be available but I would see if the Marlins were willing to part with him and at what cost. One idea could be to trade for Lawrie, play Saladino at SS, Sanchez at 2B and make a play for an outfield bat via trade. Someone like CarGo might be affordable to the SOX and they could use his power from the left side behind Abreu. 1st bold, i am in total agreement. 2nd bold, i was with you until you mention cargo. agh. end/

QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Nov 30, 2015 -> 12:33 AM) What kind of SS would you want the Sox to get if they did indeed acquire Lawrie? Would you prefer the Sox to get a guy on a long term deal (like Ian Desmond), or a 1 year stopgap (Asdrubal Cabrera, maybe even Alexei)? ss from the mets org Gavin Cecchini or Luis Guillorme for a yr or 2 but my fav for right now is Jeff McNeil. when anderson is ready, move them to 2b or play the better defensive player. if not that option, 1 yr with Alexei at 5 mil or 6.

QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Nov 30, 2015 -> 12:04 AM) I would LOVE Frazier on this team but it is going to take a lot he could... but who knows. i been after Frazier since trading deadline. trust me on this. even in my mock fantasy trade options, i had him. but as you said the cost.
-
QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Nov 30, 2015 -> 12:27 AM) If Cinci's price is indeed through the roof, and I believe it is, then I hope the Sox pull something off for Lawrie. The Sox farm is not in good enough shape yet to pull off a trade for a player that had the second half Frazier had. Forget Frazier, trade for Lawrie and then find a SS. that is what i was going to post... something like that. remember if the price is not right, we walk. however the price is something that will be different from person to person. Cincy is rebuilding. pitching, of'ers, for starters.... that is what they need... maybe another RP as well.

QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Nov 28, 2015 -> 10:04 PM) Pass on Lawrie. Don't want his character in the clubhouse. what is it with his clubhouse character??

QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Nov 29, 2015 -> 08:14 PM) They need the next wave to start producing, absolutely correct. Dano & Teuvo specifically. Those two, no matter their age, were being counted on to produce at a high level this year and so far it hasn't happened. If those two were to get it going the entire complexion of the team changes. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Nov 29, 2015 -> 07:45 PM) Agree. My only concern now is getting more from guys like Shaw, Garbutt, Teuvo, Kruger, Kero, etc. Hossa has been playing well, the Anisimov line is on fire and Toews is Toews. Right now it looks like the scoring depth isn't there. in my opinion you are talking about 2 different waves .... the obvious wave is the elite or the higher end players. after that, 2 more waves. 1 wave is the shaw, kruger, garbutt, daley type of players and yes they need to step up. but with my first question, will Q system allow them to really be offensively thinking.... i answer should be no, they can make their own scoring chances. the next wave after that is the dano, teuvo etc.. i think they could really use another yr in the minors.... even teuvo who i am not a fan of. i do not see him as many on this board does. but that still doesn't mean he is ready to be playing in the big leagues.... however here is my final question, is Q and his system really holding them back?? they do not have the freedom to make those mental rookie or inexperience players type of mistake that they may make on another team. they are expected to play in a very regimented, very rigorous style of play. that is why many, not all players Q likes are in their mid 20's or older.
