  1. So, I've been thinking. You know that saying you catch more flies with honey? Because who wants to catch them, really? I want to swat them down and kill them. So, why would I waste good honey on something that irritates the crap out of me. Just some food for thought on a loverly Thursday. What intellectual puzzles have you all been pondering today?
  2. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 01:00 PM) George W. Bush is not "From" Texas. He currently lives in Texas. He is From Connecticut.. I am not "From" California. I live in California, but I was born and raised in Indiana. Oh gosh, I'm sorry. . .
  3. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 01:01 PM) In fact, to lighten up the mood here, I think were gonna start putting up some more light hearted banners. This first one is a masterpiece made by Greasy. I *love* the new banner. It made me LMAO.
  4. QUOTE(SnB @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 10:40 AM) "don't worry guys, boston isn't a big college town." I actually quoted the first part of this line in my music perception class: This is a musical trilogy I'm working on in D minor which is the saddest of all keys, I find. People weep instantly when they hear it, and I don't know why. Oh, it's nice, what is it called? I call it, "Lick my Love Pump."
  5. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 10:33 AM) Yeah that is United. You should be all right then. Hurray! This day keeps getting better.
  6. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 10:21 AM) The best indicator would be did UAL have to give up their program as they have gone through bankruptcy? Anyone know? Is that United? I know my roommate still has her frequent flier miles with them--and they honor her credit card miles too. . .
  7. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 10:08 AM) If the bankruptcy court ie their creditors tell them to lose the frequent flyer miles, they won't have any choice. They are writing checks their asses might not be able to cash. I would seriously cry if they didn't honor my miles.
  8. Got this from the northwest. Damn right you're honoring my frequent flier miles!!!!! Dear Soxy, As you may already have heard in media reports, Northwest Airlines® has voluntarily filed for bankruptcy protection under Chapter 11 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code. The bankruptcy process will enable Northwest to continue its transformation into a new-era carrier in keeping with the permanent changes that have affected the airline industry, such as rising labor costs and a doubling of fuel prices over the past two years. Because we value your business and proven loyalty, I am writing to assure you that there will be no impact on the WorldPerks® program as a result of the filing. Frequent flyer mileage accrual, redemption, and Elite benefits will remain unchanged. Members will continue to earn and redeem miles according to the current WorldPerks program guidelines. The bankruptcy filing will not impact Northwest’s day-to-day business operations. We remain committed to serving customers, honoring tickets, flying a competitive schedule safely and reliably, maintaining our WorldClubs® lounge program, and all other programs and services. All bookings will be honored, and ticketing policies remain unchanged. Our existing marketing relationships with other airlines remain in place. The decision to file for bankruptcy protection is not related to the current strike by members of the Aircraft Mechanics Fraternal Association (AMFA). Our operation continues to run well and we have experienced no adverse impact on our operational performance as a result of the work stoppage. Customers can continue to book travel on Northwest Airlines with confidence. Although bankruptcy is never a first choice option, it does provide the most prudent means for a restructuring that will ensure the transformation of Northwest into a new-era carrier that is able to compete in the near term and well into the future. Thank you for your continued support of Northwest Airlines. For more information about Northwest’s transformation, please visit nwa.com®. We look forward to continuing to earn your business by providing the outstanding service you deserve. Sincerely, Doug Steenland President and CEO Northwest Airlines, Inc.
  9. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 08:47 PM) Not after I saw all the problems Nigel Tufnel ran into with it. But, see, this one goes to 11. . . I heart that movie.
  10. So, uh, what does that mean for Northwest?
  11. QUOTE(The Critic @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 08:42 AM) I wouldn't say anything to them. If you've grown apart, there's no reason to continue or renew a friendship that could never be what it was. Just remember the good times you had and let that person fade away. Trust me on this one.....this is a specialty of mine...... See, that was my thinking. But she somehow tracked me down, found my *new* school e-mail address, e-mails me and IMs me whenever I'm online. And she's so unhappy I don't want to be like, I don't want to be your friend any more--but she isn't really getting the ignoring hints either. . .
  12. What do you say to an old "friend" whom you haven't spoken with for years because you've become totally different and clashing people? But who is so completely miserable and lonely that you feel really bad for them? On a related note: I need more emotionally repressed/stoic friends (i.e. men).

    QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Sep 13, 2005 -> 08:02 PM) FWIW, a female dog is also called a b****. I don't see a female in Nuke's avatar so is it not assumptive to assume the meaning of the word? b**** is used in many ways, mostly without much tatse or class, but it does not always refer to women. Yeah, it's used as an insult to men by infering they are like women--so it's actually more offensive. . .
  14. QUOTE(Texsox @ Sep 13, 2005 -> 12:45 PM) ChiSoxy get 10 points for having a really cool friend who should be posting here. Eh, she's a Twins' fan. But all of my friends are cool. I don't associate with unworthy people.
  15. E-mailed it to a friend, and though her reply was worth posting: SoxyFriend: Um yeah. Interesting. Wow, could we emphasize stereotypes anymore? I think that the two should be combined. Everytime a footballer is spotted wearing Jimmy Choo shoes, you get 7 points. Gosh, I can't wait until I come up with a game that distracts people from the reality of their middle class American lives. Of course, what could I invent that would top religion?

    QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ Sep 13, 2005 -> 10:16 AM) aww I ain't that hard core....but yeah I figured I made enough posts for people to know my true feelings. I just figured since I'd never seen SFF here before I should clear that up.

    QUOTE(SpringfieldFan @ Sep 13, 2005 -> 10:06 AM) This is where, in the new spirit of Soxtalk, I just take a deep breath and quietly back out of this thread... You realize that post should be in green right? CC is the hardest core republican on the site. . .
  18. QUOTE(Mplssoxfan @ Sep 12, 2005 -> 10:44 PM) You could always google it! lol! An overview: http://www.334notout.com/ I could, but. . . Learned helplessness is a *wonderful* thing.

    QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Sep 12, 2005 -> 09:05 PM) The wing nuts group was made up back during the election time last year to describe the hardcore Republicans around here. I am the biggest Bush backer in the house and I thought it sounded kinda funny so I signed on. I don't know about that. . . But you are the Bush backer with the biggest GUNS in the house.
  20. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Sep 12, 2005 -> 08:53 PM) At least you get to have more fun, er something. Eh, I actually don't mind. I consider marriage a lifestyle choice that isn't for me. So, my friends can pledge their undying souls to people and I will enjoy their free cocktails and dinner.
  21. QUOTE(SnB @ Sep 12, 2005 -> 08:51 PM) you don't have friends, remember? I know you are but what am I?
  22. No relatives?!?!?!?!?! Hell yes! Sign me up! EDIT: In reality, the free ticket will be used to go to another wedding in my friend's never ending quest to remind me of my singleness. . .
  23. WOOHOO! Got my new credit card (switched to a Northwest Airlines Card--as I usually fly with them) and, after I make my first purchase I will have enough miles to get a free round trip ticket to anywhere in the Continental 48!!!!!!!! Hurray!
